If you count

the CIA interventions on this timeline from its creation in '47 to the Gulf War, averaged out you'll get about one a year.

That could account for alot of "blowback".

Steal his car

Ask him afterwards if he was pissed it was gone and you drove off with it without his permission. Then ask him what he would like to do to you after you took his car.

If not his car, something he really likes.

This video explain all.

Brilliant article that explains why we love Dr. Paul:

Tell him to rent "Red Dawn"... movie from the 80's

It was kitschy and all, but the point is a real one.

I loved this movie when I

I loved this movie when I was in highschool! Partly because I was a Neo-Con hawk but also because it's a really cool movie. I frequently refer to the "Red Dawn Scenario" when discussing the 2nd ammendment and other topics.

Go over to his house, refuse to leave

and start eating his food, take over his tv controller and boss him around a little.

When he reacts point out that this is blowback and it happens when someone or some country intrudes into the lives of others.

"The deepest sin against the human mind is to believe things without evidence." Thomas H. Huxley

Yeah.. that sounds like the pattern

Moreover, tell him that he has to "vote" the way you say, and PAY you for your time there in additional to room and board, or else...there will be problems to pay at home and in the community:

the neighbors will find his garbage in their yard,
the neighbors will discover he has been pilfering their mailbox, newspaper and other deliverables,
the police will receive frequent reports of noise disturbance, family disruptions, violence, etc.
For some reason, his utility and other bills will disappear; he will begin receiving phone calls for disconnection of services (or no notice at all), and his credit will suddenly plummet..
He will receive threats on his life and his family's life..

But you, of course, know nothing about that. You only have his best interests at heart, and have documents to show that you are assisting him with his serious financial needs, and his family and social problems.

If he tows the line, these things will suddenly stop.

This is the "small scale" analogy to the Economic Hit Man.

i was just going to say, kick him in the nuts. blowback.

ron paul 2008

Now THAT would drive the point...

"home"

WOW

very insightful, thank you

i might just have to purchase his books

Just tell him, "watch what happens to FOX this weekend!"

That's a real-time example...lol

????

Ask him if he's ever stepped in an ant bed or punched a hornet's nest. Blowback is undeniable.

A small look at the history of the U.S.

If your friend really wants to know he needs only look at specific historical facts that are taught in college, not those thaught in High School but those taught in college, I wish they were not different but they are drastically.
For instance, Ho Chi MIn from Vietnam, went to the treaty of Versailles and asked to see The Preident and the Prime minister of England concerning The French being in Their country, He did this to try and excersice the self reliance rule of the treaty, the U.S. and England would not talk to him, this was doen several times and still no reaction until he spoke with the communist and received money to start an offensive against the French, and eventually the U.S. because the French pulled out leaving us holding the ball, we would have pulled out but President Kennedy would have seemed weak to the russians. Blow Back is us not listeneing in the first place our arrogance caused us to go to war, if we practice what we preach we would be ok but we do not.
Blow back is us giving money to Osama Bin Laden to fight the Russians in Afghanistan, we armed him and then now have to fight him. Blow Back is the U.S. giving money to Saddam Hussien to fight the Iranians then we fought him, getting the picture?

michael

links or other info

i've never heard that before, about vietnam. do you have links or other info supporting that. that's pretty good stuff.

Read the book

Blowback by Chalmers Johnson.

I am reading it right now out of curiosity.

It brings to mind a history professor I had that was saying a lot of the same stuff. At the time I didn't pay any attention to him (mainly because every other word he used was profanity...) I understand a little bit more why he cussed so much.

Take his lunch and park your car on his lawn......

and ask him to he got mad at you...

its the best example i can think of...and it is experiential learning!

Use Ron Paul's recommended material

This site contains a list of books and videos that Ron Paul recommended to Rudy Guilani when he denyed blowback during the first Faux News debate.

http://rudysreadinglist.com/

ps I really like the "intrusive neighbor" analogy that was suggested earlier in the boilers20 comment. Just need to find a willing actor.

Do you need to convince on that subject or on Ron Paul?

I don't believe that, 6 years ago, the terrorists were committing blowback. I live in Europe and I was convinced that they wanted to capture Europe to obey their will. But that was 6 years ago. Now the Islamic world is split and, with guys like Sarkozy elected in France, they know that they will never control Europe.

My point is:

1) Since the war is over in the minds of most Americans, you can convince a pro-war person to vote for Ron Paul based on any number of his other policies besides being anti-war.

2) You don't need to convince anyone that the WOT was not worth fighting in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004 and even 2005. We are talking about whether war in 2009 is still worth fighting. There comes a time in all wars when you give the enemy a way of saving face and work with them.

Don't let anyone tell you that permawar is a historically proven strategy for success. World War Two was over in 3.3 years after Pearl Harbor was attacked. That means we should have "won" this war by Christmas of 2005...which was about the time the Neocons started to regulate the Internet on us.

After the Ostia terrorist pirate attack near Rome in 68BC, Pompey was given dictatorial powers "temporarily" by the Roman Republic to eliminate the terrorists. Pompey pulled an Afghanistan War-style move and wiped out the terrorists within months just like the US military would do in late 2001. But then he pushed for and got another war against Mithridates, etc, etc.

Pompey went on to circle the Black Sea and capture Jerusalem all of which had nothing to do with terrorist pirates.

Ostia was the 911 of ancient history.

In 2008, the Neocons want to continue to "confront Islam". For instance they want to continue to promote feminism in Muslim countries and recently tried to foist Bhutto on the Pakistani people.

Ask your friend if he is OK with continued war in 2009 and 2010. If he says no, tell him that 2009 is when Ron Paul would take office.

President Bush still has a year to fight "Islamofascism" if he thinks that is the right thing to do. No need for your friend to vote now for an extension of that fight instead of looking at other issues.

foreign policy

he like ron paul for other reasons but won't back him because he doesn't buy into the whole blowback thing

Then bring out the heavy guns: radical feminists in Congress

Micah,

No matter how much a heterosexual male wants to fight "Islamofascists" and (like me) doesn't buy into the blowback theory, just send him to a site like www.online-dating-rights.com where he can learn about how John McCain and his campaign manager Sam Brownback passed a law forcing American men to have background checks before being allowed to say hello to foreign women online. Julie Annie would make it illegal for American men to sleep with adult women in other countries (he wants to stop "sex tourism") as if the US government owns it citizens. Romney said "That's tough" when asked what he feels about men being falsely accused of abuse and rape because of new laws like VAWA that make it profitable for their accusers.

Your friend is digging in his heels on the "blowback issue" because you are directly confronting him with it.

You can get around that issue with other subjects which, I guarantee you, are more important to him than fighting "Islamofascists".

BLOWBACK...

This whole Ron Paul thing and all of his supporters are "Blowback" to the status quo...

it's called getting even

it's a very basic response.

my advice: go worship at a Muslim mosque and I think you'll decide that people are the same; they love their kids; they love life and yearn for freedom.

propaganda is used to create wedge issues which divide an otherwise united people.

remember the Gulf War and "smart bombs?" why is it that our bombs are smart and their bombs are dumb? once you start seeing through the BS, you realize that it's BS.

my best friend is from jordan

and worked for king hussain.his uncle was a general in the jordanian army. you have no clue how sneaky the american and isrealis are cia etc. the middle east loved america until the 67 wars when isreal took land from egypt syria jordan. the imans went around telling the people that they forgot mohammed and thats the reason god is punishing them. before that they wore mini shirts and western suits. it is blowback. the brits lied to these people telling them when they get rid of the turks they will be free lol. they have been stealing the oil since the 20's and putting in puppet regimes that will do as their told or else. america is the biggest mafia organization in the world its nothing but a gang. who are the real terrorist? i us to think the same way until i met this person in 1993 and my whole idea of the world has changed. everything this man told me was going to happen in the middle east has happened just the way he says. he is 58 years old i told him he should start his own you tube channel and post commentary about the middle east. he is truly a genius and i appreciate everything i have learned from him. ps he is christain jordanian just got off the phone. you know what he said butto is right osama is dead and if the terrorist wanted to get her why did they wait for her to come back to pakistan they could have killed her in europe she had no body guards. who do you think pressured her to come back? you got it the usa. wake the fuck up. everything is a lie.

Easy

Just turn the situation around for him. Iraq invades us because we have WMD's. They take out our government and insist that a dictatorship is WAY better than a democratically elected government. Militia groups pop up all over the US trying to get our country back from the Iraqi forces. The Iraqi forces start training a US military to fight against the Patriot militia groups. Iraq builds bases all over the US and patrols the streets. Etc. Etc. Sounds scary right? Wouldn't we hate them? Sorry if that offends anyone.

bravo man good job

eom

Agreed...

This is one of the easiest ways to do it. Turn it around...

Give him an example.

Heres what I did with a friend of mine. I ask him what we would do if Russia started building bases in the US and started pushing us around??
He said that We would not like it and we would go on the offensive, because we are a proud people. Then I told him to think about what he had just said. His face went blank, and then he started asking questions. He is now a Ron Paul supporter. Just think this guy was a neocon subscriber. Alot of people don't understand what we are doing around the world.

Simple

The "opposition" doesn't give a crap about "how right and noble" your actions are.

This is basic human interaction.
