Walter Williams for VP?

I thought economist Walter Williams might be a good running mate for Ron Paul. I would love to hear what everyone else thinks about this?

No. Walter Williams is one of the smartest men in this country

HELL YES he would be a great running mate. He is like Ron Paul as he TELLS the TRUTH.

Wow....would that be a first where we had a president and a vice president at once who did not lie.

Long live liberty, peace, and justice!

I don't know if he ultimatley is the BEST possible choice

But I love reading Walter William's stuff and listening to his interviews and lectures. Brilliant guy who makes economics interesting and understandable.

I tried to get Williams interested in running

for president in 1992 and he said he had no interest. He said that his love was teaching and that, on the day he dies he hopes he will have taught class that morning.

Of note, however, is that he will be fill-in host for Rush Limbaugh on Friday and wouldn't it be great if he chose the occasion to endorse Ron Paul. If he feels uncomfortable with a formal endorsement he could at least speak at length about why Ron Paul's economic policies are the only candidate's worth considering.

New Hampshire and Ecuador.

forget williams

and Rand Paul is no Ron Paul!

As an economist he can play a valuable

role in a Paul administration. Williams is not an experienced administrator, and at this point after all the 'newsletter' smearing, I think his appointment as VEEP would be seen as pandering.

This is what I would want in the Paul Administration...

VP: Rand Paul (He brings conservatives who dislike Ron aboard)
Chief of Staff: Jesse Benton
Press Secretary: Ben Swann
Defense Secretary: Douglas MacGregor
Head of CIA: Michael Scheuer
Homeland Security Secretary: Robert Pape
Fed Chairman: Jim Grant
Treasury Secretary: Peter Schiff
Secretary of State: Dennis Kucinich (?)
Secretary of Veteran Affairs: Adam Kokesh (?)
Supreme Court: Judge Napolitano

Don't forget that we gotta get Tom Woods in there somewhere

Ron Paul / Rand Paul 2012
A Father/Son Doctor Duo Challenging The Statist Quo

Still lovin that homeland security

Astounding.

Thomas Woods

I think Tom Woods would make a great Press Secretary!

Although, I've always thought Jessie Venture would make a great Press Secretary too. Watching him answer questions from the media is always hilarious!

Attorney General: Judge Napolitano

Then Supreme Court

Don't Vote For Ron Paul for anything less than
Re[love]ution & Renaissance
Dennis

Or

Defense Secretary: Jessie Ventura

I'd be surprised...

if Ron Paul chose anyone other than his loyal and trusted friend from North Carolina, the great Rep. Walter B. Jones.

The Judge

But wouldnt it be a hoot to find a Democrat with the same values as Ron Paul? That would get a lot of attention. But really..my #1 choice is the Judge...(I want to hear FAUX ignore that!!!)
I do however hope Adam Kokesh gets a job with Dr.Paul.

I believe in Hope & Change..I Hope the government will Change

I'd rather see the Judge appointed to the Supreme Court...

...and I really like Walter Williams as a pick for either VP or as a Secretary of State.

A Presidential Running Mate For Ron Paul...

I think Judge Andrew Napolitano would make an excellent running mate for Ron Paul. Judge Napolitano would be the one to help fight for us and the constitution. He is a great supporter of Ron Paul too.

Secretary of Education

I heard Professor Williams say that he'd gladly accept an appointment as Secretary of Education contingent upon the primary purpose of the position being to shut it down!

Incidentally, I wouldn't mind him being VP, either, and was hoping for just that last election. Now, I prefer The Judge.

Dream Cabinet

Vice President: ?
Attorney General: Kenneth Cuccinelli (Virginia)
Fed Chairman: Jim Grant
Head of CIA: Michael Sheuer
NSA: Wesley Clark
Treasury: Peter Schiff
Press Secretary: Jesse Benton/Gary Howard
Defense Secretary: Douglas Macgregor
Speechwriter: Tom Woods
Council of Economic Advisors: Walter Williams
Cheif of Staff: John Tate/Jesse Benton
Secretary of State: Jim Demint

I'm prettey sure he already stated

that Walter would have a place in his cabinet and that may have been Secretary of Treasury.

LOVE that ticket

I love Walter Williams and love the idea of him as the VP ticket. But unfortunately for Williams, and us, this nomination race is gonna run through May, maybe June, perhaps as late as September - leaving very little time to spare afterword vetting a running-mate. I predict Paul will select a running-mate that has already been or that needs very little vetting.

I like Williams very much.

and in my neocon days I loved it around this time of the year when Williams filled in for Limbaugh many times over. He makes much sense and speaks his mind, which can be a both a good/bad thing in politics.

NO

and No again.

A brilliant guy and interesting choice...

but a little too obscure and academic for the general population to latch onto. The correct Walter would be Rep. Walter B. Jones (NC), Ron's long-time loyal and trusted friend. A humble and principled man of great conscience.

Nope.

I'd like someone like Gary Johnson who I at least feel comfortable with as #2 guy. But don't count your chickens yet. We have a tough fight ahead of us. Let's win Iowa and NH, and then talk about these things.

Would people here support

Alan Keyes?

nope. also, somewhere on this

nope.

also, somewhere on this site from late '10 or early '11 is an interesting chain of e-mails between a DPer and Alan Keyes. It wasn't pretty. They were discussing various matters. props to keyes though for actually debating him. but yea...no keyes possibility for vp.

If You Want to Learn More

about Walter Williams here are links to his PBS documentary called Good Intentions. The footage is dated but the message is still really important! It's broken up into 3 parts on youtube and is less than an hour long. He also has written a lot of great books! He would be a great VP and he could finally put to rest this RP is a Racist Crap!!

Seems like there was some talk

about Mr. Williams in 2008. Might even have been from the campaign.

Someone with a better memory help me out here.

like him but don't think...

he'll be asked. he'll certainly be asked to play a role in rp's cabinet or in some capacity.

i think the vp nod will either go to napolitano, gary johnson, or perhaps kucinich.

It's hard finding the perfect VP

I'm not sure who should be his VP, but I'd like to see those guys you mentioned, as well as Peter Schiff, Walter Williams, Thomas Woods, Michael Scheuer and a few others join his team.

Although, I think Napolitano has rejected a VP offer (if I'm not mistaken), but has expressed interest in a position on the Supreme Court, if offered.

From a purely political point

From a purely political point of view I would say that we are on the verge of a bunch of left leaning people coming over and voting for Ron Paul because they are so angry at Obama. If you want to lose those potential voters then the quickest way to do that is to get Walter Williams on the ticket. Williams is a great guy and a good deep thinker but nothing infuriates and provokes hatred among people on the left like a black conservative. Everyone who was considering Ron Paul would instantly recoil in horror and go back to Obama.

Williams is great on

Williams is great on everything specifically economic. But I have been unable to find his foreign policy views, which I long ago somewhere read were standard interventionist as to the mideast, though I would appreciate it if someone could correct me on that. But for that caveat, Williams is a powerful debater, very passionate and would quickly drive back anyone foolish enough to assert to his face he would be just a token black in a Paul administration.
