Thing is

he's been saying what you suggest he should be saying for many many years now, repeatedly, and at 76 years old, I'm sure you can imagine that it gets beyond tiring having the same crap thrown at him, after he's already, clearly, expressed himself on the issue, countless times. This isn't the first time he's been confronted on it. They asked him about it the day before on CNN! Same question, same answer. He can't be any more clear. But the MSM is getting what it wants by this sinister tactic. They want to create the illusion that he's not answering the question, and sadly, a lot of people fall for that narrative.

"I never submitted the whole system of my opinions to the creed of any party of men whatever in religion, in philosophy, in politics, or in anything else where I was capable of thinking for myself." - Thomas Jefferson

Don't be a blind true

Don't be a blind true believer man, seriously. His campaign has botched the handling of this and there's no excuse for it. Dr Paul's a victim of bad advice. Those of us who love Dr Paul with all our heart and AREN'T blind, want this to be resolved and it WON'T if we put our heads in the sand and act dumb, chanting slogans.

Your statement actually SUPPORTS what those of us who continue to criticize the campaign's handling of this. HE KEEPS HAVING TO ANSWER THE SAME QUESTIONS, meaning, THEY HAVEN'T BEEN SATISFACTORILY ANSWERED.

egapele's picture

NO, there's nothing else for them to feast on!!!!

How many times does he have to address this? This is the ONLY thing they have and it's a dead horse already. Ron Paul and the campaign have already been there, done that.

I Assume This Wasn't Aired Live, Was It?

If it wasn't live, he can leave any time he wants.

What do you think? http://consequeries.com/

Who will hold NYTimes accountable for its insensitivity?

One of the newsletter quotes that is being frequently quoted was basically taken straight from a NY Times article from 1993 - which the newsletter cites. Who will hold the Times accountable for its insensitivity?

...the interview wasn't over. There is no point where the interviewer says, "thank you for your time" or any other indicator that the interview was concluded. I'm only saying this because I don't think this video shows that Ron didn't just walk away as CNN claimed. I am a die-hard supporter, but I am not blind. He blew this one. This whole issue bothers me. I know Ron didn't write those awful things, I'm not saying that. I'm mostly worried about his weak response to all of this. The average, non-political person will think he is lying just by the way he is reacting to interviewers. He should just come out and let everyone know that Lew Rockwell was responsible and distance himself as far as possible from him.

Can't disagree more...

He did walk out of the interview, which to me is fine. I would have too. I would get very irritated if someone was trying to smear my name and call me a racist with their only proof being a loose, insubstantial "guilty by association" fallacy. Also, he was very sharp on his replies, he illustrated just how weak CNN's research was. They had no proof of him making a million dollars off of these letters, plus he pointed out just how minimal the offensive material was in comparison to the rest of the pieces written in the newsletter. The interviewer wore her heart on her sleeve at the end of this interview, you can hear it in her voice that she felt like crap for badgering him.

the interview was over the moment she kept harassing him about crap he'd already, clearly, cogently, IN ENGLISH, given her answers to. Ron didn't blow anything. CNN blew their facade of professionalism and inept interpreters of this event blow common sense. It's clear, she badgered him repetitively about the same issue, to the point of redundancy. I can go into how this is akin to asking someone if they still beat their wife, but I'm tired of posting that over and over again. I agree with TMOT. You give these media (w) hores way too much credit. If someone asked me if I beat my wife, I'd walk (not storm, as clearly he didn't) away too. How you get the Ron blew this one is beyond me.

"I never submitted the whole system of my opinions to the creed of any party of men whatever in religion, in philosophy, in politics, or in anything else where I was capable of thinking for myself." - Thomas Jefferson

He blew it in the sense that he could have said he was through with his explanation of the subject. Instead, he took the more comfortable way out, which took me by surprise. If asking a few questions is badgering, what would you consider fair? Perhaps CNN is responsible for endlessly asking him about it, but only a few moments were dedicated to this issue in this one interview. I think Ron's answers were acceptable, and if he felt harassed, he could have taken control of the interview instead of walking away. Regardless, CNN clearly does not like Ron, screw them anyway.

Currently top issue at r/politics:

CNN will feel this.

The interview is like when

The interview is like when you go to a woman's house to pick her up, but you have to wait a while on the couch. There sitting next to you is the woman's little daughter. The daughter is asking questions about whether you like her doll and what clothes you think she should put on the doll. However, every time you humor the kid, the kid contradicts you are second guesses you. What an infantile "reporter."

Clearly, as the old folks used to say, Gloria "wants blood." She would not be satisfied with anything less.

Walter Block  posted “I hate Ron Paul”, the other day on the LRC Blog.

(The link to his article was here at the DP).

I sent him this comment:

Pleeeeeeeeeeeassssse... I need to be unhooked, de-Pauled, rehabbed.
2012 is the end of the world and I am not getting ANYTHING DONE!!!
I am a Spaniard living in Switzerland, married to a Guatemalan.

Nothing to do with the U.S., right?
Yet, I cannot get on with my life!
This man is ruining my existence in his attempt to save the U.S. (and the world, for that matter) from collapse.
He will kill me while to preserving the future of mankind.
At work, at home, 24/7... I cannot stop looking for the latest news on Ron Paul!

Not that I could have written any books instead, but I want my life back!!!

Much Love
AKA "American Mary"

This is his great answer (Note: no de-Pauling data)...

Dear Maria:

I feel your pain.

Best regards,

Any of you know any Ron Paul Anonymous in Geneva area?

PS. By the way, I have a young Iranian student sharing the apartment.

She is the sweetest thing and so much like any American young student!

And last summer I was nanny for a month for an Iranian family staying at the hotel. The kindest people you know. Sweet as they come. We are still in touch.

I love you guys!!!

Ron Paul completely ROCKED this interview. This was an amazing interview even though it was clearly a hit job. No wonder CNN had to edit it to TRY to make him look bad.

I hope CNN gets scolded for this!

I loved how he made HER answer some questions...

When she said we were attacked on 9/11 he asked "by who? (which country?).

She says " a number of countries!

"So should we go attack each country? he asked

She was finished at that point. Dr. Paul had her dead to rights on that issue.

THAT was a teaching moment. If she has any brains she would become a Ron Paul supporter after this interview because he was so solid on everything.

"We have allowed our nation to be over-taxed, over-regulated, and overrun by bureaucrats. The founders would be ashamed of us for what we are putting up with."
-Ron Paul

This woman is a media sellout

This woman is a media sellout talking-head who knows exactly what she's doing- She will never be a Ron Paul supporter, she's actively working to undermine him.

CNN has a history of this.

I hate Fox News too, but this is why I don't understand the singling out of Fox News over other MSM. CNN is just as bad if not worse than Fox, as this hit job points out.

They did this same thing to the WWE after the Chris Benoit double murder suicide incident. They interviewed John Cena, one of their wrestlers, and asked him about steroid use. They deliberately edited the video to make it look like he was admitting to the use, but the answer was to a different question. WWE was angry, to say the least:

"A true competitor wants their opponent at their best." Lao Tzu

Double murder suicide??

I thought that was Newt's campaign strategy...wasn't aware it was also a wrestling move ;)

ah... probably too soon. I

ah... probably too soon. I think the comedy rule is you have to wait ten years or something to joke about a tragedy. But politics is a lot like pro wrestling. lol

"A true competitor wants their opponent at their best." Lao Tzu

When she says it's her job

What she means is it's her job, as she sees it, to oppose Ron Paul in every way possible, not to report fairly. There is another side of Ron Paul's record that they are not telling and that is his record of voting and his public opposition to racist government policies against minorities.

CNN should be ashamed

And I'm not even talking about the newsletter questioning.

Here, Ron was exposing the two-party system for what it was - a HUGE point. I would have absolutely loved this to make the news instead.

Notice every time Ron says something of truth, Gloria says, "but..." and then asks another stupid question.

Obviously, Gloria never got the answer she wanted in this line of questioning either. She wanted Ron to say, "Republicans are good, Democrats are bad"

Then Ron talks about the government auctioning process, and them stealing the people's money. Correct me if I am wrong, but did they cut that part out when they showed this clip? I remember watching the original clip, and when Ron said "auction", they didn't play the sentence before where he introduced the idea of what auctions even meant - since the audience is no doubt clueless to this way of looking at it.

It just goes on and on from here.

Ron, you did a great job.

WOW if this is the best dirt

WOW if this is the best dirt they can dig up on him, he is even a better man than I thought before!!!

exactly what I was talking about in my 2007 lecture

This sort of egregious misreporting of Ron Paul by the mass media is exactly what I was talking about this 2007 lecture - http://blip.tv/paul-levinson-on-media-writing-science-fictio... - good thing we have online sites like this to report the truth!

Completely misleading.

I couldnt understand why he stormed off until i saw the full thing. CNN should apologize publicly.

We all like Dr. Paul so we

We all like Dr. Paul so we are quick to give him a pass knowing his record. But too many people on here are lying to themselves if they think the public will be so knowledgeable and forgiving (the same people that will vote this post down). Walking out on an interview, no matter how rude the reporter is being, doesn't play well. Mark my words, RP will never do it again. The campaign will have their strategy in place now, but it's disappointing they didn't already have one.

The questions about the newsletters are legit. They exist. They were published under RP's name. He can't just dismiss this. The public won't accept that and the reality if you need to win over that public to win an election.

"In reality, the Constitution itself is incapable of achieving what we would like in limiting government power, no matter how well written."

~ Ron Paul, End the Fed

You of course are correct.

You of course are correct. Those giving you crap about it would be ALL over Newt and Mitt under identical circumstances... "Dude, Newt's so busted, look how defensive he gets..." I can hear it.

This ISN'T Dr Paul's fault IMO. Slowing down and showing a little sympathy toward those who find the newsletters concerning is advice his ADVISORS are supposed to be giving! I mean, if Dr Paul disavows them, then tell the damn interviewer you AGREE WITH THEM, that he hates what was written in his name AS MUCH AS they do. Start from THERE and THEN they can listen. Otherwise you get a response much like this chick gave, "I mean it's a legitimate concern, right??"

God, I mean every guy that's had an argument with his girlfriend should know this stuff. Even if they're ultimately overreacting, they just wanna know you SEE WHERE THEY'RE COMING FROM

The questions may or may not

The questions may or may not be legit, but he didn't walk out on the interview unless you mean it in the way that every interviewee eventually walks away from every interview when it is over.

Of course he walked out. He

Of course he walked out. He lost his cool. What he needed to do was turn it around and keep doing so. "Yes, I made some mistakes not approving all the words that went out under my name. I disagree with and disavow those statements." Next, you give the reasons why your record speaks far louder, "Look at my record. I changed my mind on the death penalty because I concluded it to be racists. The war on drugs is racist. Wars where minorities and the poor are sent to die for the elites are racist. All of these things I have spent my career trying to change." You keep giving that answer every time she asks until she looks stupid. Instead, he gave weight to the attack.

Like I said, the non-thinking Ron Paul supporters would vote this down and they have. They are every bit as bad as the blind sheep following Obama. If you can't take an honest look at where the weaknesses are you can make them better.

This is marketing 101 people. I have been doing it all my life. Ron Paul's greatest asset is the voracity of his supporters. The problem is that also seems to be his biggest problem. Blind religious devotion is what we are fighting against so when it pops up here I'm very disappointed.

This video proves there WAS NO walkout!

Awesome video.
