Wanted: Tips for Michigan Slim Jim Distribution!

0 votes

Hi all!

I FINALLY got my slim jims delivered today ... I have a few hundred of them to distribute and I'm looking for creative ways to do so. In the past I know that some clever ideas were posted here, so I was hoping that some of you who have distributed on your own could help me with suggestions!

Some I have heard already:
- Insert in newspapers
- Hotel Rooms

Would love to hear what some of you have been doing! I live in Michigan and with the primary rapidly approaching I could use all the help I can get!

Thanks :-)

Personal Touch

Try all you can to directly hand them to a registered voter. Gocer, wallyworld, kmart, etc. Gun show

If you leave them at someone's home stuck in the door, put a small hand written note. get some post-its and stick on them.

That way they know you're not just a paid campaign worker, but really believe in his message.

Places to put slim jims if u

Places to put slim jims if u dont want to talk to people:

1. Bathroom stalls and sinks.
2. Tape them to traffic light poles in towns with high pedestrian traffic (that would be princeton near me)
3. On sunday when everyone is in church, go around the entire parking lot and put a slim jim on every windshield. When the service is over everyoen will come out and all of them will have a slim jim.
4. Place them in front of, or beside ATM machines.
5. In front of cash registers so that the cashier can't see but the next person in line will.
6. On the counters in starbucks or panera bread
7. At your local library. There are usually places to place non-profit literature. Look for a cork board or table.
8. Benches inside malls.
9. Put them in these: http://www.uline.com/ProductDetail.asp?model=S-12191
10. Tape them all over opposing candidates campaign signs

Get Prepared!

Your post has inspired me

to get some gunowners slim jims and do the same at my small town hardware store that sells guns and ammo. In fact, I need to take my 22 in to be repaired and I will see if they will put some on their gun counter.

My plan

Do a mail box drop with 3 Slim Jims (separate issues of course) and rolled around them is a letter. The letter is addressed to the residences and kindly talks about Ron Paul and asks them to read over the slim jims and go to certain websites for more information. The letter should be personal.

Federal offense

It is a Federal offense for anyone other than the owner of the home or the U.S. Postal Service to open, close, etc. a mailbox. In other words, keep your hands and literature off of/out of mailboxes. No exceptions.

Newspaper boxes are OK. Screen doors/ storm doors are OK.

This is directly from the campaign.

Oh wow really?

Sorry, I didn't know. This suggestion was actually what I was planning on doing. Thanks

Very true.

On another thread a troll was encouraging people to put bumper stickers on cars in parking lots! Needless to say--many people don't want to deface their pride and joy with bumper stickers! This would certainly cause "blowback"! In fact, I was one of them--until Ron Paul! I proudly have 2 Ron Paul bumper stickers on my rig.

An Idaho Supporter

Took some gun owner slim jims and passed them out at Cabela's and Sportsmen's Warehouse parking lot. He said he passed out 200 in short order and folks were glad to get them.

I've had some of the most

I've had some of the most fun/interesting/heartening moments when I'm at the mall, grocery store, or movie theater. Just strike a friendly note in line or at the counter and people will often ask about Dr. Paul. I wear a "retro" I support Ron Paul button and always have a supply of slim jims (The Hope are my favorite for general use- its a good picture of Dr. Paul.) I've been doing this since before Thanksgiving. The growth in acknowledgement (awareness) of Ron Paul gives me so much hope.

Someone should suggest to the campaign that they give a button with slim jim purchases. We could call this effort "walk arounds" or "walk abouts".

I love hearing about those

I love hearing about those spontaneous stories .... I have a second order coming (hopefully soon) with one of the retro buttons also so I will be sure to have that on everywhere along with a supply of slim jims.

I'm not doubting when I ask this, I guess I'm just happily surprised: Are these spontaneous little "conversations" with people really as common and as positive as has been indicated on these forums? I am so happy to hear that - and so happy to hear that people are eager to hear the RP message!

passing out slimjims

Im here in Michigan and just got another case of the original flyers when you go to any store park far away and put them on cars to store. PLace them on the driver side window btwn rubber and window This will be right in front of them when they come to their car not windshield people turn on wipers & its gone You can hit parking lots and pass out alot in a short time this way GO R P!

Pass them on to restaurant workers

Restaurant workers love to hear this! plus Young typically anti war demographic that the Republican party has lost.

RON PAUL Says:
No Taxes on Tips
It is an outrage that waiters, waitresses, and other service-sector employees have to pay taxes on the tips they earn. The IRS makes an estimate of how much service-sector workers will make in tips, and taxes them on it even if the taxpayer did not actually earn as much as the IRS' estimate!
Tips provide a substantial portion of the income of many service-sector employees, many of whom are young people just trying to make a few extra dollars to get through school, or single parents often balancing two jobs while trying to make enough to raise a family. This tax amounts to nothing more than the federal government punishing these employees for working hard and doing their jobs well.
I have introduced H.R. 3664 in Congress to end this problem. The Tax Free Tips Act of 2007 will exempt tips from federal income and payroll taxes. Ending taxes on tips will give workers an immediate pay raise, letting them keep more money to put toward things like a house or car payment, their retirement, or their own and/or their children's education.
When you give someone a tip, you should not have to simultaneously tip the federal government.

I actually tried that one ....

On somebody I know who waits tables at a restaurant and her response to me was something along the lines of -- most waitstaff doesn't claim all their tips anyway, so the tax issue doesn't matter. What apathy, eh? Pffffft!

they are ignorant.. they are

they are ignorant.. they are taxed at 8% no matter if they claim or not

Grocery Store = Gold Mine

Grocery stores are awesome places, you meet your neighbors (near and far) and most people are more receptive in a public place than when you're at their doorstep. (not to say that people aren't nice at their doorstep, but they are more inclined to be on their best behavior in public)

which slimjims

did u get?

I got some of the "Hope for

I got some of the "Hope for America" and some of the "Ron Paul for President". I figured these were broad enough to appeal to everyone (since the others were geared toward students, gun owners, etc.)

I ask people that I know

I ask people that I know this question:"Have you decided who you are going to vote for President?" If they reply "no", then I ask. "Have you heard of Ron Paul?" The undecided are the easiest to share the message with.

Door to Door

Get out and meet your neighbors!

I'm in Michigan too. First

I'm in Michigan too. First I recommend you join your local meet-up at meetup.com. Another very easy way is to snag a huge stack of free papers (Metro Times, Employment Guide etc) and start stuffing them. When you done, put them back. I also keep some in my purse and in my car always. You can go door to door in your neighborhood. Also, I highly recommend if you have the "No tax on tips one" go into every restaurant you see and give them to the cashier or your waitress.

I give a tax free tips one

each time I tip. Make sure you give a generous tip! :-)

Great site!

Thanks! I was not aware of this page .... should be lots of help

Hope that helps

I think the simplest thing to do is to speak to someone with the aim of 'introducing' him to Ron Paul, and not be pressured about 'converting' him/her. That is difficult, often counterproductive.

I would only try to 'inform' those who have already heard about him and I would do that by asking him 'what have you heard about Dr Paul (not Ron Paul).

just a few quick hints.

what are the slim jims

what are the slim jims exactly, i always hear about them but am not entirely sure. Are they the little pamplhets, food, what?
