*Dope-slap!* Why didn't I realize that the VoteBuddy idea can apply to primary elections as well as general elections?Submitted by kvc on Tue, 12/27/2011 - 00:03
Back in the 2000 race I established VoteBuddy.com to advance a strategic voting idea. The idea was for a recalcitrant Republican and a disillusioned Democrat to get together and agree that they'd dump the major parties and vote for a candidate they really believed in. It's a wash where the flashy horse race is concerned -- +1 vote, -1 vote. But there are now 2 votes freed to vote according to conscience.
Just now I realized that this same idea can apply to the GOP nomination too. Let voters who reluctantly support Romney or Gingrich (because they think Ron is unelectable) pair off and take away one vote each from Romney's and Gingrich's totals and then add 2 votes for Ron!
It might even be a good topic for a TV ad. "I'll dump my disgusting candidate if you'll dump yours!"
