Next money bomb...

Think about it. Money bombs take time to organize. The reason why Dec. 16th was so effective was, we had more than 1 month to collect donors. Plus it really went viral.

So the next money bomb, Vijay's on MLK day, is January 21.

freeatlast2008.com

So far, 830 people are registered for it. How many people do we anticipate will be registered for it on the day of the money bomb?

We were talking 18,600 registrants for Nov 5th, and as I recall, 33,000 or so for the Tea Party.

Maybe we should just call it off. It may be better to focus on just supporting the campaign and grass roots.

I don't think having a money bomb that fizzles will do the campaign any good. In fact, it may lead to a number of news stories, like - "Most Recent Ron Paul money bomb a dud".

So the Jan 21 money bomb is only 19 days away, with only 830 subscribers.

I don't know, but unless we really push it, it will raise, maybe only 1-2 million dollars, which won't be bad, but it won't be much to write home about, either, in this world of ever-increasing expectations.

So if we're gonna do this, we have to start doing it now and well.

The Two Big Money Bombs Were Unique:

All money bombs are very important but there is something that differentiates the major ones (two so far) from the smaller ones (many). A rallying cry.

Think about it, the first success was for Guy Faux (V for Vendetta) and the second commemorated the Boston Tea Party. We need to put our thinking caps on and come up with another Money Bomb that taps into our passions and puts the promoters (video makers) into high gear again.

What historic events that exemplify our cause could be used for another money bomb? Any thoughts?

There is no such thing as a money bomb failure!

I have never registered for money bombs and donated in them all.

All special days when people give money for this purpose have great power.

Money Bombs aren't about the money but about people all comming together at a specific time with focused intent. Even if everyone gave 10 cents and prayed on a specific day it would have a great impact.

Take your negativity somewhere else.

thanks zamboni

Our video keeps climbing and lots of folks are lining up behind this. We are fast approaching 2,000 youtube views and have honors in 4 categories thanks to dedicated, positive people like you. With a little help, we can make top rated for the month and that will take care of the publicity of the week long event. We have less than 2 weeks to get the word out. Thanks!

Mike,
With boots on the ground in Iowa, we're on a mission!

The Law of Diminishing Returns

The law of diminishing returns in economics, law stating that if one factor of production is increased while the others remain constant, the overall returns will relatively decrease after a certain point. I realize I will get some criticism for pointing this out, but please read my entire post first.

This is why Ron Paul's pay day is a better why to move forward. By taking the variable out of the campaign, you actually increase production ( fund raising) . Initially the money bombs severed their purpose, we proved Ron Paul's support was real. But most likely we have gotten as much mileage out of this, media wise, that is possible, with one more shot over the bow when all the candidates report third quarter fund raising later this month.

IMHO, the risk of a money bomb not meeting expectations far exceeds its benefit. Money is money no matter when it comes in, but steady money weekly to the campaign is far more beneficial to the campaign than peaks and valleys. 100,000 supporters willing to give $50 per week, would net $20 million per month or $60 million for the next quarter. The money bomb, if its needed should be reserved for the last week in the next quarter. People that do not have $50 a week to donate could band together and fund raise. I mentioned in an earlier post scratch off fund raising cards.
Google it, a 90% return and for a donation from $1 to $6 the donor receives $150 of national store coupons. BTW, I have nothing to do with this business, but scratch off seems to be one of the better fund raisers.

In any event, assuming we win the primaries, we still will have to beat the Democrats, maybe Bloomberg too; Hillary has a $140 million war chest.
So $20 million a month between now and next November is not far off the mark to build the type of war chest the campaign will need.

Original Money Bomb

was a weekly event. We signed up to donate $25 a week to provide a steady income stream. They scheduled the Nov 5th one to coincide with the This is November 5th event to maximize the dollars----very effectively too! While there is a lot of excitement watching that counter spin, I do think a steadier income could very well better serve the campaign now that we've broken the records.

After the early States, they won't be able to ignore him anymore so we don't have to prove that he's a 'serious' candidate.

In it To Win It !

There is a site already up for this, it needs support. Consider it a weekly mini bomb: http://www.ronpaulspayday.com/
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ymbz6XrkXzQ

This is a great idea. Maybe we can use the money bomb concept to gain donor support to the weekly mini bombs? Instead of Troy goal of 20,000
donors at $25 , let's raise the bar during the Freedom week campaign money to ask donors to pledge weekly in the future. Remember 100,000 donors averaging $50 a piece, whether is $5, $10, $25, $50 or more would ensure the campaign $20 million a month.

40,000 people donate an average of $25.00 per day for 7 days= 7 Mil. That's all it will take. Or you can donate one lump sum on one of the days. Some will donate more, some less, but we can get to that average. We have done it before! One million per day is the goal!

Donation ideas? I thought maybe people could donate $17.76 (has been suggested before) per day. If everyone donated $17.76 per day from the 15th midnight to midnight the 22nd it would equal $124.32. You can donate all seven days, or one lump sum (Say $125 or $100 on your day of choice). Everyone could donate what they are able. That would not only give more people a chance to give, as people get paid on different days.

The Great American "Carpetbomb" of Money multiple day event, Starting January 15th, 12 A.M eastern and ending on Jan. 22nd (MLK Day 2008) at 12am eastern. Each day has a special significance, from civil rights and freedom of religion ( National Religious Freedom Day), to the anniversary of the beginning of the first Gulf War, and Ben Franklin's Birthday. Keep the video moving! It is on the top page!

http://ronpaul2008.com

Background:

Originally, I made a video about freedom of conscience and encouraged people of all faiths to support the effort to preserve religious freedom and the true INTENT of the founding fathers regarding separation of church and state (government could not impose or prohibit religion) using select quotes from Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, and our man Dr. Ron Paul. (Jan. 16th is National Freedom of Religion Day). Some thought it narrow in scope. I suggested that the scope be broadened.

Since January 16th, 1991 was the date the first Gulf War began, I suggested,
"Let this January 16th represent the beginning of a change in foreign policy, the turning of the tide toward individual liberty, and freedom of conscience! Support the effort on January the 16th!"

Others were concerned that the event would overshadow other events.
One person suggested that Jan. 17th be celebrated, as it was Ben Franklin's Birthday, and there were others suggesting that we have a fundraiser on Jan. 21st in honor of MLK.

Eventually, the compromise was to use Ron's own words in IOWA,
"Peace, Freedom and Prosperity" and that sounded good. There is no better message than Ron Paul's message. Isn't that why we are here?
We have decided to unify our message and support each other's effort.
We urge you support this message which is Ron's own.

We have made history with our previous fundraisers. We can make history again. We can't do it without your help. We all have to reach in our pockets and make freedom happen. We have already made history. Seize the day of your choice, or seize the week! DO what you are able.

Spread the word, make videos, get involved, stop the negativity, we are on the front page of youtube and climbing for the week.

I wouldn't do anything until

after New Hampshire. Then when the results are better than expected, it will renew hope. (Not that most of us need it)

There is no money bomb scheduled...

as far as I can tell from surfing the web just ideas for one. The info you discuss about a date in January was just an idea that did not take off. No worries though the energy and excitement for a new money bomb is just around the corner.

Enough with money bombs

I think for now Paul has enough money and we should focus on getting votes and supporters and when he needs more cash we organize a money bomb.

More Money Already Asked For

The campaign has already asked for more money. If they had $23M more in funding than they currently have in the bank, they have the Super Tuesday projects to spend it on.

Money Bomb

I don't think having a money bomb that fizzles will do the campaign any good. In fact, it may lead to a number of news stories, like - "Most Recent Ron Paul money bomb a dud".

That may be a factor.. plus everyone is totally wiped out by Christmas, New Years and Thanksgiving plus digging deep for the last one. Give us all a break and let us get our finances back up to par before goading us even farther. No one wants to see Hanity smirking about Ron's internet bots bottoming out. That would be a disaster. or O'Rielly ranting about Rons support bailing. This is not going to help.

The National Hq has paid fund raisers to raise funds, let them earn their keep for a month or two and give us a rest.. There is much to do in the grassroots.. it all takes money.

We will be heading for Texas tomorrow which will cost about $1,200 in just gas, this is important to get the word out and gather support in Ron's own home state. It is imperative that he take that state in the primary's. We have our work cut out for us. We will be in Magnolia at the housepainting party. Everyone check that out and if you are within driving distance come on out and be a part of history and media attention.. After that there is another event " A Line in the Sand" in Tyler, check that one out too.. Nancy Falstar has put hours and hours of planning on this event..it will be a killer fundraiser with all of your help. After that we will be in San Antonio for the Rodeo and all points in between.

Keep everyones spirit up and keep everyone motivated with doing things not pushing for more money than they have to give. That is depressing and disheartening for a lot of people and it shows. We almost bombed out this last one. Just barely squeeked past the $20 million mark...

Remember Ron's own words... HAVE FUN... let's do it.

To all the money bomb organizers

How about changing the name of your effort to "feed the grassroots day" or something. The money on that day will go to the grassroot organizations only. The money needed will be lesser, the efforts funded will be many and varied.

There will be very little chance of failure and it will be catchy. If you make a website for this, I will spend 2 hours every day drumming it up on all the Ron Paul websites. promise!

Web site

There is a "RONPAUL GRASSROOTS NATIONAL CAMPAIGN" website already being put together. We need some reliable people who are pretty well known to be on the steering committee and we will be set. It will show case different events, provide funding for them and give the Grassroots some well earned credit for the work we are all doing.

How can I help you?

I really agree that grassroots needs the money now. We can't starve what got us here by overfocusing on HQ.

All we need to do is make a website..

like many of the other money bomb websites and decide which grassroot movements are going to participate on that day.

I think people get too worried about things such as who should be put there, what if they will run away with the money etc. I think we should just go ahead and make a website.

Then ask the few grassroot campaigns if

1. They would want to participate
2. If they can have a post on their website summarizing their achievements till now and future plans.
3. Commit to a donation goal for the plans that they are already working on.
4. Commit to updating the amount raised every few minutes to 1/2 hour on the moneybomb day.
5. Commit to stop accepting donations on the moneybomb day after the goal has been reached. They can resume again later.

I think the above should cover all aspects. I am just thinking aloud here, but it seems a sound plan to me. The people who make the website will just function as marketers for these grassroot efforts...for free!

The date could be set for preferably around the 10th-15th of this month.

Even the Duds are Successes

People keep expressing concern that money bombs which don't meet their goals could result in negative publicity. We have had four money bombs and NONE of them have realized their goals and NO negative publicity has been generated.

So I don't understand why people keep expressing this negativity.

Even our "duds", such as this past Monday, bring in more donations and new supporters than any of the other candidates can generate. We can expect the MLK money bomb to do as well as New Year's Eve and possibly better, depending on the active support generated by Iowa and NH.

If you don't want to give any more money to the campaign, or are maxed out, or are between paychecks or for whatever reason, then don't participate. But why - why - jump on those who do want to participate in this way? How is this negativity helping?

Fund Grassroots instead!!!

HQ is flush with cash. Some people question its choices. The problem may be that most of the money is centralized with a small committee....

But that is not how we got here. We got here via decentralized effort. Lots of minds thinking up lots of ideas. But these other efforts are dying on the vine as we continue to throw money at HQ.

Please, consider funding a grassroots project of your choosing, that you believe has the best chance of succsess.

I am funding:

And looking for other opportunities. But that's just what I think makes sense.

Please do not lock up all of our funds in just one stock. Diversify our portfolio!!!

Troy and I have put together

Troy and I have put together an event called Ron Paul's Pay Day which is a series of smaller bombs based upon a bi-weekly pay schedule. With the vast amount of proposed money bombs we felt a sustained donation level might work better for the time being. We also support the money bombs, but we thought this idea would give people the option to donate in smaller amounts more frequently.

If you are interested check out www.ronpaulspayday.com.

Crunch Time

I wouldn't worry too much about the money bomb being a dud for a number of reasons but most importantly:
#1 Reason - Primary Events
It is crunch time with the early primaries and I believe most people are in a wait & see mode. If Ron Paul gets at least #3 or #4 in Iowa tomorrow, it will be a very telling signal that we should continue to push money bombs and grow this campaign. I believe Dr. Paul will win New Hampshire, but like most of us, we know the polls are inaccurate, but we're not sure the extent.
#2 Reason - Blimp Project
I truly believe that the Blimp project is also very important as it generates a buzz and the media cannot ignore this as Blimps are one of the most noticeable means of advertisements. I live in Indianapolis and get to see the blimp at least 3 times in a year for the Indy 500, Brickyard 400, & the Formula One Race (I believe they canceled that event) along with the Indianapolis Colts - New England games and playoffs. I always remember the blimp flying around.

I believe in this movement and helping Ron Paul become elected as it's the first time I felt that we had something very special going for us. Ron Paul is much much bigger than Ross Perot and the grass-roots campaign is beyond what Mr. Perot could purchase. We are experiencing history right at this moment and I look forward seeing the post-Iowa events tomorrow and hear the drumbeats of another MEGA MONEY BOMB that will eclipse $10 million in a single day.

Important Issues

Important Issues:

1) The biggest boost to money bombs is NEW SUPPORTERS. This is only accomplished by boots on the ground, mouths on the phone, dvd's, standing outside in the cold, talking to people.

2) Many people have maxed out. They can give again after the primaries are over because it's officially a new campaign.

3) Too many money bombs. Confusing for people. We need like one money-bomb per month. We don't necessarily need "themed" bombs.

My 2-cents. =)

Every Friday, TGIF money bomb

Every one likes to make a big splash versus a little ripple, so how about every Friday we all pledge $20.00. That way we are not waiting for a huge event, and the campaign keeps a fresh pile of cash to paly with!

I got this moneybomb in my mail today

I'm maxed out but I thought it was more appropriate to the Revolution.

thats not the next money bomb

the next money bomb is a carpet bomb from january 15-january 22nd-Its called "One week for Freedom"

There's plenty of time, and this post in general sounds negative. Lets keep it positive people, we've been doing great so far.

hilarious

this is so funny. there are way too many themed opportunities. I have to plan ahead to be dumping $ into something other than my budget. If we start to 'fail' it will be because no one is leading this effort. I know we've done extremely well as a 'campaign' without central planning, but it's getting thinner and thinner as we have more ideas..

If you've got money to give, give it now...

Don't wait for the money bombs to give. If you've got a spare few dollars, give it now. What the campaign needs is sustained income. We did a great job of raising a ton of money with the prior bombs, and it went a long way...but RP has 48 more states to go after NH and IA. He'll need a sustained supply of donations to keep up the push. Any amount will do...I give based on my ability at the time. If I can spare $100, I give it, but more times than not, I can only afford $50 or $75...it just depends. If I could give my limit, I would.

I believe another money bomb is a bad idea. For one, so many of us are tapped out from the previous ones. Even the December 31st money bomb did not meet its mark. We are past the point of diminishing returns. We need to focus on true grass root get out the vote activities. I think his bank account will get us to Super Tuesday. His success at the polls will bring in the cash from here. Lets focus on that.
