I Can’t Renew My Drivers License

“Proof of residential address is now required. This must be a separate document other than a driver’s license or ID card.”

After celebrating my 30th birthday I trucked myself down to renew my drivers’ license, and much to my surprise, at the empty “take a ticket” dispenser was this sign, which was going to present a problem in renewing my license.

So, what if you don’t have a residential address? Can you drive without a house or apartment? What if you are living in your car? What if you do not have bills that come to your household? What if you lost your home and are trying to find a job, and your car is all you have? Isn’t this unjust? Isn’t this unfair? Isn’t this unconstitutional?!?!?!

I decided to avoid the confrontation last week at the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), and thought that I would go online to try and see if I could circumvent the harassment and embarrassment that I technically don’t have a residential address. The website to apply online asks about my credit rating, my marital status, my occupation, and my education. To be honest, why does any of this matter?

Instead of hitting the “SUBMIT” button, I have decided that I will not renew it. After all, it is unconstitutional to require a license to drive. I am a free being with the right to travel around. And, I am not hurting anyone else by doing such. I am not a criminal. Why am I being treated like a criminal?

I am so sick and tired of living in this fear and feeling that I am doing something wrong. I am not doing anything wrong. And, many people who are going to be stopped by this sign pictured above do not deserve to feel like THEY are doing anything wrong. Just because you have hit hard times and have nothing to your name does not make you a criminal. I am not a criminal. And I will not live in fear.

Now, please understand that I understand that it’s not a ‘right’ to drive a car but a ‘privilege’ which is what we are taught when getting our drivers’ licenses. Driver training and knowledge is IMPORTANT and something that our state government should enforce initially in an effort to keep our roadways safe. The real point of this is, that after that, there should be no other restrictions unless you hurt someone else. Things like the DWI check points don’t stop drunks from driving, they are mainly setup as revenue generators to harass lawful drivers while the drunks drive on. Task forces to monitor the general public should stop and the needless information gathering is really about imprisoning law abiding citizens rather than public safety.

We really need to challenge the “law-makers” and enforcers of law more often because we are supposed to have the right to do that. Oh wait, no we don’t! The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) says that if I don’t conform or cooperate I may be detained without a day in court for a possible indefinite amount of time. It’s amazing that we make it so easy for law enforcement to come pick us up because they think I could be doing something wrong. Why are they able to make the call without due process.

America, its time to step up and vote to stop people who are oppressing us. Just in case you have forgotten, they are PUBLIC SERVANTS and WORK FOR US! So, you will get to work with me in the process of educating my law enforcement and community about the constitutionality of a drivers’ license.

And if I get thrown in jail, we will have available for you “FREE TISHA” t-shirts.

Can't mail you your ticket. that simple.

This is the core issue for them. When they send you their camera ticket you have to have an address. I will not say what I think, because this is that exceptional place called America where you have to be careful what you say. When will people stop with the lies about peace, voting, and jesus?

Strange how we have 2 sets of laws

one much more restrictive for citizens driving licenses, and another less so for immigrants who cross the border.

The USPS will not deliver mail to my home so I got a po box.

But the DPS will not accept a po box so my drivers license says -----
15 Ml W. HWY 90
Uvalde , Tx. 78801

I don`t live on Hwy 90 I live 3 miles down a private road. They will have fun finding me.

It is hard to imagine a more stupid or more dangerous way of making decisions than by putting those decisions in the hands of people that pay no price for being wrong.

bad part is if they run her plate

they I believe will be able to tell her license is expired, and they will pull her over. I hope her car looks nice, and when it comes to tag renewal then it is a whole nother problem.

My state's DMV listed "BREEDER DOCUMENTS"

My state's DMV website posted that you had to supply a BREEDER DOCUMENT in order to get a drivers license. This was not a typo. I contacted them when I originally saw it in 2009 (that verbiage has since been removed) They told me that meant "a birth certificate or anything like that". I asked them WHY DIDN'T YOU JUST SAY BIRTH CERTIFICATE? What is the native language (or mindset) of the person who came up with the term BREEDER DOCUMENT? She told me that they just cut and pasted the text from the REAL ID information that was forwarded to them.

I am a woman

married for 41 years to same man, and I had to get marriage certificate, because my birth certificate had my born name and didn't match with my social security name, being my married name. Geez. Didn't have it, as it was destroyed in a flood. So I had to order a new one. This is the first time in 41 years that someone had asked to see my marriage certificate. figures, need it to drive.

I had the same problem.

I've held driver's licenses in five states. The last time I tried to renew my license, I had my birth certificate. If the name on your license is not the same as the name on your birth certificate, you have to bring a marriage or divorce degree to explain why your name changed.

I simply told them this was ridiculous and walked out.

Real ID?

Some states resisted complying with the Real ID act. Some didn't.

Don't you know you might be a terrorist who wants to use your DL to get a plane ticket?

What do you think? http://consequeries.com/

Please remember

that while it will be great to get RP elected for a much needed change in this country, he will need like minded people in congress to help push for his proposals and get them passed. That cannot be overstated. I jumped over to casida2012.com and signed up via email so I can donate to her campaign in the near future. If Ron has almost no support in congress, which looks to be the likely scenario since most of them are corrupt and morally bankrupt, then it will be up to us to help get in people like Tish to get things moving. PLease keep that in mind.

What state is this?

Driver License is now the Real ID

A looong time ago one only needed to prove they could safely handle a vehicle and if true they were granted a Driver License ascertaining the fact. No photo needed, no SS# needed and could be renewed by mail without anything other than a request for renewal. Since then the DL has morphed into a national identification document. Hence the requirement for all the personal information that has nothing to do with handling a vehicle. So the Real ID is now a fact in once-free America. What many miss is this new national identification document is now tied into the totalitarian ObamaCare which in turn is tied into the IRS and health insurance requirements. It is my belief all these tightening nooses were constructed to locate every single slave or taxpayer so they may be all plucked and controlled. Your problem with the DMV has little to nothing to do with safely handling a vehicle but everything to do with processing, cataloging and tracking once free Americans.

right to travel

there have been numerous court cases decided that americans have the right to travel. the roads are owned by the taxpayers, not the government. the vehichles that they are talking about in the state codes, are buses, trucks that use the highways for business, (trucking companies) those that charge for their services. if you research right to travel you should be able to get the info you need.

Don't just walk away

Tell them your situation and find out what your options are. Yes, they can and probably will call security (they did when I confronted the non English speaking lady working the desk at the federal building) but they are public servants.
I had to show my birth certificate among other stuff to replace my social security card so I could get my license.
Don't give up, your vote is not a privilege.

I don't understand the

I don't understand the phrase: "It's not your right to drive a car...it's a privilege" Who makes this up? If one buys and owns a car..a mode of transportation. It is one's RIGHT to be able to drive it. If one is charged and convicted of a criminal offence in the operation of a vehicle then one loses their right to drive a vehicle...but to convince people that it is a "privilege" allowed unto you to drive your own purchased vehicle, it is another step to bowing to a master for such privileges that may or may not be bestowed upon you.

When your vehicle is paid off,

you still don't own your vehicle. My cars were paid off in Alabama and Pennsylvania. If you have what you believe is the title of your vehicle, read the top portion. What you have is a "Certificate of Title for a Vehicle." I tried to run this down, I wanted the actual title to the vehicles. I'm still investigating what or who actually has the title to both my cars.

you don't own your car

The state owns your carand why you register your car with the state you reside in.

Technically, legally you can

Technically, legally you can drive your car all you want without a license. Where you can get into trouble is driving on a government road without a license. So if you want to drive from one end of your driveway to the other you don't need a license.

In fact in my state of Az a drivers license,Registration and Insurance are only required if driving on an "Improved" road meaning a paved road. All dirt roads are unregulated. If you have a water truck or water hauling trailer, nothing is required but an orange triangle on the back and can be operated on any road.

It's your right to use your property. If you own a car, you shouldn't need the government's permission to use it.
