Awesome article - excellent analysis - Steve Deace begrudgingly climbs aboard the Ron Paul Train.

Looks like Tom Woods had some impact on Deace.

Luther's Pen Pal has a pretty good comment at the bottom too.

Another pretty good article here:

Introductory excerpt:

by Steve Deace

Should Ron Paul win the Iowa Caucuses, the media narrative is the Republican Party establishment will go scorched earth on the quirky libertarian Texas Congressman, just as they did Pat Buchanan back in the day.

But unlike that successful kamikaze mission of yesteryear, this one won’t work. In fact, if the Republican Party establishment chooses to go down that road they might just propel Paul to the nomination.

That’s because Ron Paul isn’t Pat Buchanan, and the environment this go-around is dramatically different than it was back then for two reasons.

First of all, Paul’s campaign apparatus is dramatically superior to anything Buchanan ever had. His Iowa Caucus campaign is a well-oiled machine, and the envy of the entire process. They’re running the best commercials. They’re the best organized. They’re the most loyal. And look beyond Iowa, too. Paul wins straw polls all over the country, including CPAC and even at the 2011 Values Voters Summit. I know several of these people who are the masterminds of Paul’s organization, and these folks don’t put their phasers on stun when it comes to their opponents and know what they’re doing. They’re not kooks, they’re sharp cookies and losing is not an option in their strategy. They have no problem burning down the entire system, because they distrust it anyway.

Or I guess not . . .

Deace just officially endorsed Gingrich. I am confused. Here is Tom Woods' response.

If the Republicans offered a candidate who would say out

Yes, if, as reporter Deace suggest, the Republicans, or Democrats for that matter, offered a candidate whom I could be sure was dedicated to stay out of my bedroom, my home, my family, my business, my job, my hires, my school, my body, my wealth, my investments, my charities, my purchases, my sales, and my foreign country preferences, AND he was as handsome as Romney, as glib as Gingrich, as black as Obama, and as principled as Paul, then I would switch, with regret, from Dr. Paul.

Some crazy

comments on that Steve Deace blog. Wowee.

When a true genius appears in the world, you may know him by this sign: that the dunces are all in confederacy against him. ~J. Swift

Here again,

"In fact, no insurgent candidate in modern American political history has had an organization this professional and well-funded."

Here again, the magic of bottom-up spontaneous order is marveled at when perceived from the outside. (The Ed Show clip currently up featured Ed also speaking of the marvels of the campaigns organization.)

The vast majority of us - I presume - are not "professionals" at all in this, but amateurs, bringing connecting with each other through our passion.

This whole election cycle has gone so much better than last, so much great news, so much new support - and yet it is this comment, this perception - of how "well organized" this grass-roots campaign is - that really gives me the glimmer that we can win this thing!

Because its not just a campaign, its a microcosm of the potential we all have together.

My thoughts

Last election we had about 120 million people vote. There are 300 million people with maybe 250 million of voting age. That is still less than 1/2 the people voting. The reason I believe is most people rightly see the two choices as pretty much the same thing.

But. If someone like Ron Paul is running on a real liberty platform I think we will get people pouring out of the woodwork to cast their vote. It would be a landslide. The most difficult part is to actually get the nomination.

Time to INVESTIGATE the investigators of 9/11. PROSECUTE the prosecutors. EXPOSE the cover-up.

he is right about one thing

as for me I am very willing to let the GOP burn if Paul is not the nominee. I'll even donate the marshmellows. I think we need to hammer this home as much as possible. GOP - Ron Paul = Obama Win The GOP cannot win without us and we will not support any other candidate.

And many Republicans are

And many Republicans are starting to wake up to the fact that their leadership has sold them out. The Republicans Establishment is no better than the Democrat Establishment. It's just like professional wrestling.

The more the Establishment GOP attacks Ron Paul, the more Republicans they drive into the Paul camp. There is nothing they can do at this point. Too many people know.

And as I have said before, it's no longer just Ron Paul. His message has awakened millions of Americans, many of whom have always looked with suspicion on the Republican Party. The GOP Establishment is as corrupt as ever, but they are losing control. Rank and file Republicans need to throw these traitors out.

His message has awakened millions of Americans

It's nice that we got some

It's nice that we got some good press, but I still think Deace is an idiot.

From the article:

"This brings us to how to defeat Paul.

Paul is a man with powerful ideas, some very good and some very bad. If human history has taught us one thing it’s that bad powerful ideas can only be defeated by good powerful ideas.

Instead of trying to cram milquetoast flip-floppers down voters’ throats, the Republican Party needs to champion candidates who have good powerful ideas about how to return to the roots of the American Revolution—which begins with the premise individuals have liberty and rights from God alone, and the role of government is to protect those God-given rights and then get out of the way to allow liberty to flourish."

....

Umm....is this man joking or what? He thinks that the way to DEFEAT Ron Paul is for the GOP to "champion a candidate who has powerful ideas about how to return to the roots of the American Revolution." So....Steve, what you'd like to see, in order for Ron Paul to be defeated, is for the GOP to nominate someone exactly like Ron Paul?

Derrrrrrr

"Alas! I believe in the virtue of birds. And it only takes a feather for me to die laughing."

I caught that too

The truth is some people believe in freedom ..

.. except for that "one area" where they really (when they get right down to it:

Don't.

And that's exactly where that's coming from.

What that one area is varies from person to person, but behind every person that's "... he's got me 95% of the way there, but on that last 5% FORGET IT"

HaHa

Thats exactly what I was thinking! Is he being stupid on purpose just trying to see if people will catch his monumental contridiction.

No - he has very big concerns from

a strict Christian World View that he does not feel the Ron Paul has answered - and it took me a while to feel comfortable with Paul because I have those concerns too.

It wasn't till I spent more time watching Paul and understanding that his world view matched mine that I was able to throw myself fully behind him.

LOL

Derrrrrrr.

Deace will burn you and Ron

Deace will burn you and Ron Paul.
Believe me.

That's the strangest

That's the strangest endorsement letter I've ever read.

haha

I am in total agreement with last sentence.

Deace is a good man - just not fully informed.

He is very knowledgeable in the scripture though.

I love it

Reboot is right. Liberty for all!

I'm not a big fan of Deace, but we need all hands on deck.

This guy is confused

He proved that he wanted Ron Paul but not THE Ron Paul. He wants to have his cake and eat it too. Ron Pauls don't come on a party platform and they certainly don't come with Ron Pauls' platform. This is the problem with our system. Here's my comment.

"the Republican Party needs to champion candidates who have good powerful ideas about how to return to the roots of the American Revolution—which begins with the premise individuals have liberty and rights from God alone, and the role of government is to protect those God-given rights and then get out of the way to allow liberty to flourish."

Umm I'm pretty sure you just described Ron Paul there dude. Sorry he's not young and pretty like your "perfect candidate". He does have the unmatched charcter and conviction to live up to your challenge though. He is the embodiment of that phrase in your article. Who are you trying to convince, and why do you want someone to "defeat" Ron Paul. Your "perfect candidate" doesn't exist, but I'll take the guy you described...his name is Ron Paul!!

The way I see it, either way the system is going reset

what we are fighting for is who is controlling the switch. This country is going for rebuild one way or another, I hope we Ron Paul supporters are at the healm of the ship. It is make or break time, things are going to speed up on the neocon side even faster from here. We ain't seen nothing yet. We are against all the money in the world, but then again, we don't give a shit about their money, the freedom train has no bounds, money couldn't buy the support Ron Paul has, and that is the difference. We have the fire, the same fire our Forefather's had, only now there is millions of us. We won't be stopped, but the ending will be crash landing, and then we can restore what was lost. Keep up the great work everyone!!!!

Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom must. like men, undergo the fatigue of supporting it.-Thomas Paine

The R3volution requires action, not observation!!!!

He's almost there but not quite..

"They have no problem burning down the entire system, because they distrust it anyway."

Not only do I NOT have a problem with it, I want to watch it burn, I want to bring hotdogs, marshmallows, chocolate and grahams so we can have a cookout and make s'mores!

I want some liberty minded bands to come so we can all dance to the tunes of Freedom with our bellies full in a mad pursuit for happiness!

I want to watch Rome burn for all the right reasons and take solace in the fact that I was there with a match.

you might want to clarify that comment

Talking about burning things down could bring you a knock -- or just a battering ram! -- on the door, these days.

Obviously, sensible people will know what you mean, but we have to remember the government.

What is begun in anger, ends in shame.

The sad fact anyone feels the need to make such a comment, as

yours in warning, is all the more reason it needs to burn.

If America is so far gone that such a musing would bring a 3am knock, battering ram, or a hail of automatic rile fire into your home, then America is already lost, and it's all over but the fat lady singing.

The present system is NOT what is legal and authorized. It is a criminal cabal and it must be brought down. With or without the marshmallows.
