Thomas Sowell = Pimp for CFR

The traitors are pouring out of the woodwork...

"Not all voters want to be realistic, of course. Some treat elections as occasions to vent their emotions. They tend to vote for someone they just happen to like, and regardless of whether that candidate has any realistic chance of being elected.

The support for Rep. Ron Paul seems to be of this sort. But does anyone seriously want to put the fate of this nation in the hands of a man who can casually brush aside the danger of nuclear weapons in the hands of Iran?

There are no guarantees, no matter whom the Republicans vote for in the primaries. Why not vote for the candidate who has shown the best track record of accomplishments, both in office and in the debates? That is Newt Gingrich. With all his shortcomings, his record shows that he knows how to get the job done in Washington."

I'm as dissapointed as the rest of you..

..maybe even more so. I love Thomas Sowell and this news hurts bad. HOWEVER, like I said before, we need to remember that just because people disagree with Ron doesn't automatically mean they are a pimp, or a shill, or a traitor. Thomas Sowell has done more to advance the ideas of liberty and small government than anyone this side of Milton Friedman. There are obvious examples of traitors and media members who are paid to think how they do. Thomas isn't one of them. The guys just disagrees on foreign policy. I'm not sure why it's so hard for some of you to see that not everyone agrees all the time with Ron. In the interest of not making ourselves into the same close minded cult members who elected Obama, I suggest we not continue such disrespect towards people who don't automatically agree.
Thomas Sowell's hawkish war stance comes for an in depth study of history far superior to most of ours. I disagree with him on Iran, but he has schooled many audiences with his knowledge of why some European countries had to be saved by the US during WWII. It is that knowledge of societies and how they handle threats which shapes his view. Unlike Mitt and Newt, who both dodged military service, Dr. Sowell was a US Marine. He isn't a chickenhawk, a traitor, or a pimp. He is a realist, a libertarian, and an honest man. We don't gain any credibility by treating such a man so rudely simply because he isn't on our side in this.
When Ron wins the nomination, it would be wise of us not to alienate all his possible supporters by being so disrespectful.
Vote this comment down if you wish, but know this, Thomas Sowell was speaking out against government waste, the Federal Reserve, and socialism when most of us weren't even a twinkle in our father's eye.

Free market capitalism isn't right for America because it works better. It's right because it's free (and it works better).

Thomas Sowell isn't a 'pimp for the CFR',

he is a pimp for AIPAC. He writes his main columns on Jewish World Review. If you want to be successful as a black conservative, ie Sowell, Watts, Williams, Cain, you had better bow to the Zionists. Here, read this and/or watch this video interview with a Jewish journalist who was trying to negotiate Israeli/Palestinian peace, and met with Sadat, the president of Egypt to help establish it. He said the Zionist have infiltrated and taken over politics in America. http://www.veteranstoday.com/2011/12/18/how-zionism-infiltra...

Very disappointed in Thomas

Very disappointed in Thomas Sowell. He was very influential in putting me on the road to libertarianism, by helping me understand free market economics. Definitely not happy with this. BTW, does anyone know whether Walter Williams has endorsed RP again like he did in 08?

I was supprised when I heard that Walter Williams

backed Paul in 2008 because I thought he was a bit of a hawk too. It's a shame because other wise I like both of them.

You should NEVER call a black man "boy"

CHANGE THE THREAD TITLE.

Done

Enjoy your political correctness blowback.

BTW-

You should never refer to an African-American male as a "black man".

Since my ancestors came from

Since my ancestors came from Europe does that make me a European American?

He didn't call him "Boy" he called him "Water boy"

I appreciate and advocate cultural and racial sensitivity, and I don't think it's racist to do so. I would agree that calling a black man "boy" sounds offensive at worst and at very least ignorant. However, calling someone a water boy is completely different.

The "racist" minefield being what it is in this election

you don't want to give the impression that you thought of a black man and, just off the top of your head, the first phrase that came to your mind was some kind of "boy."

Yea they should be treated

Yea they should be treated different. There should be two standards for figures of speech. One for black people and one for everybody else.

It was obviously not intended to have any racial conotation.

"Why not vote for the

"Why not vote for the candidate who has shown the best track record of accomplishments, both in office and in the debates? That is Newt Gingrich. "

Uh, because he's an authoritarian douche who's already talking about jailing judges who interpret laws different than he thinks they should? Because he wants endless war and a police state at home? Because he's the intelletual influence behind Obamacare-force everyone to go out an buy insurance?

Why don't republicans just admit it-they don't want freedom anymore.

I'm very disappointed in Sowell.

Very Disappointed in Sowell.

Very Disappointing.

Sowell talks about treating elections as occasions to vent emotions, yet Thomas Sowell proceeds to do just that. He advocates voting for someone based on popularity. He ought to know better. Advocating for popularity over principle is irrational and nothing more than emotional venting. There is nothing rational about supporting candidates that for any practical purpose are no different whatsoever than Obama. Romney and Newt and Obama all ignore the Constitution, support or supported socialized medicine, Fannie and Freddie and other GSEs, the Dept of Ed and federal takeover of education and in actually federal takeover of nearly everything, bailouts, raising the debt ceiling, continuing deficits, expanding government, the income tax, NDAA, the Patriot (aka Soviet Act), SOPA, and other enabling acts, and on and on.

If you have a 50% chance of being guillotines and a 45% chance at firing squad and a 5% of escaping, do you vote for the guillotine because it yields the best chance of winning? Apparently Thomas Sowell does. That is not rational. Popularity does not trump principles.

And his fearmongering about Iran is nothing but emotional venting rather than logic and reason. The entire opposition to Dr. Paul is based on nothing more than irrational emotional appeals. “Oh Iraq has WMDs and will invade America and take over the world.” – How ridiculous was that, and the WMD claim turned out to be a lie. Now the boy who cried wolf is at it again “Iran is a threat to the US and will invade America and takeover Israel and create a New World Caliphate.” Pure emotional venting and complete abandonment of reality, reason and logic.

Shame on Sowell who I used to admire.

Sowell helped make me a neocon, when I briefly was one.

He's brilliant. He really worked my brain over and had me thinking the whole idea of blowback was irrational. (based on his flawed assumptions, in a purely artificial construct, it is!)

But this is no big surprise.

Get on there with your comments! I just submitted this!

I just freakin JOINED facebook to get on there and take Sowell to task. Any FB users? You know what to do! Here is what I wrote:

======================================

Thomas Sowell paints Ron Paul supports as merely "liking" him.

No, Mr. Sowell, it goes far beyond that. Why don't you ask the "boots on the ground?"

Gingrich's "boots on the ground", or the biggest campaign contributors, are a green energy company, an ethanol company, and a real estate company. Romney's biggest contributors, his boots on the ground, (with only 10% coming from actual individuals) are TAARP bailed out to the tune of $10 Billilon Goldman Sachs, then Credit Suisse, then Morgan Stanley!

Ron Paul's biggest contributors? The Army. The Air Force. The Navy. In that order. And as those organizations can't contribute, this means these are all coming from INDIVIDUALS!

Which boots on the ground are you going to listen to Mr. Sowell? Special interests? Or our troops? Just who else is qualified to know more about foreign policy more than they?

Time to INVESTIGATE the investigators of 9/11. PROSECUTE the prosecutors. EXPOSE the cover-up.

I was really pissed off about

I was really pissed off about this one in particular. I always admired Thomas Sowell, and given his accomplishments in life I probably always will to some degree, but this guy is who really turned me onto free markets and helped me understand it alot better. Its a shame, he's a brilliant man, too bad he's ok with borrowing into oblivion as long as its to send my generation to die in the middle east.

And isnt the primary the time when you're supposed to vote for the person who most closely represents your ideals? This wasted vote/gotta vote for who can win is just bullsh!t. If all republicans voted for the one candidate who actually represented traditional republican values, Mitt would be begging Dr Paul for a cabinet position right now.

I have to return some videotapes...

No click from me..this guy is obviously not worth reading. He might get my panties in a wad, and that is most uncomfortable.

thomas sowell; just another neocon liar for hire.

dr. paul doesn't causually anything!!! saying that dr. paul "can causually brush aside the danger of nuclear weapons in the hands of iran" is NOT accurate, and sowell knows it.

just because you prefer to try peaceful remedies to a situation before going to war, does not mean you are ignoring the situation. i can't believe so many americans buy this garbage.

nr

I guess I was a 'neo-con' when I admired . . .

this man--or not totally awake or something, even though I was libertarian leaning for years--

perhaps it was because when I was 'introduced' to Sowell there were no wars going on--

I don't know, but I am disappointed.

it's hard to be awake; it's easier to dream--

it's ok. it's in the past now.

a very very long time ago, i actually listened to limbaugh. but even then i knew that much of what he said was BS. i have always hated the bushes and thought limbaugh lost a lot of credibility by supporting the bush crime family.
these neocon 'conservative talk show' chickenhawks are experts at deceiving people by mixing together truth with lies, and mixing true conservative principle with neocon (closet liberal) garbage.

nr

Just a few of Newt's "accomplishments" in DC

Voted in 1979 to establish federal Dept. of Education

National debt higher at the end of every fiscal year he served in Congress

Voted for Lautenberg bill and Gun Free School Zones Act

Why turn away? For conquest, intervention, murder

How sad, Mr. Sowell. You have provided such a beacon of freedom for me -- for decades. Why turn away? For conquest, intervention, murder, the dictator's myth of omniscient, omnipotent, altruistic subjugation? And for that we must accept a crushing state, less freedom at home, mucking around in countries and cultures we don't understand, and decades of blowback as those whose families we collaterally damaged, or who are tortured by our dictator "friends", justly dedicate their life to our deaths?

Don't Vote For Ron Paul for anything less than
Re[love]ution & Renaissance
Dennis

couldn't get past first paragragh. insulted that because

i support RP i'm voting with my "emotions". won't even try to address that cop-out.

It's a shame, cos his book on

It's a shame, cos his book on the housing bubble and debt crisis puts the blame fairly and squarely where it should be, with the Govt, the Fed, FM/FM, EPA, etc. And on race, surely Sowell should have a good word for Ron, given how much he has written on the subject. How easily people are blinded by the spin about Iran, as shown by Jack Hunter's interview elsewhere reported.

Traitor is the wrong word for

Traitor is the wrong word for Sowell. He was always a hawk on foreign policy so he is being fairly consistent here. It is interesting, however, how, like other hawks, he is willing to support a candidate who is an enemy of the free market in the service of American Empire.

Do you prefer Backstabber?

The stated goal of the CFR is to end all national sovereignty.

Only a TRAITOR would KNOWINGLY support a CFR member for President.
