Info For Homeschoolers

Mike Huckabee seems to have claimed the unofficial title of champion of homeschooling, in large part due to his endorsement several months ago by the Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA).

As this is our first year homeschooling, our limited knowledge of HSLDA is how they protect the rights of those who choose to homeschool, and they appear to do a good job of this. However...

Their endorsement of Huckabee instantly caused some homeschoolers to complain. Since then, you may have heard that some of Huckabee's policies in Arkansas later in his governorship actually made homeschooling more restricitve. And he was recently endorsed by the New Hampshire NEA - odd for a 'champion of homeschooling.'

So why did HSLDA support Huckabee? I ran across comments by the former PAC director of HSLDA Ned Ryun. It might shed a little light on the issue if you or anyone you know is a homeschooler.

By the way, there are several recent posts in the left hand column detailing why Huckabee may not be a homeschooler's best friend.
