Foreign Policy and the Military-Industrial Complex

According to the recent PPP poll our numbers with seniors are problematic; primarily a result of Ron's foreign policy position which the neo-cons constantly harp on. I think we ought to develop a video that parallels Dr. Paul's message with Eisenhower's farewell address in 1961 warning of the military-industrial complex. Something along the lines of:
1) Bold words: "5 Star General" show photo of Ike.
2) Bold words: "Supreme Allied Commander, WWII" show photo
3) Bold words: "2 time Republican President" show photo.
4) Bold words: "Think he knew something about the US becoming perpetually involved in a military based economy?" Cut to a clip of Ike's speech.
5) Show number of wars/conflicts since 1961 and stats on growth of military spending since '61.
6) Show clips of Ron Paul connecting foreign policy/military spending with our economic woes.
7) Close with the question: "So was Eisenhower just too extreme or did we ignore this great man's warnings?" or "Still think Ron Paul's stance on foreign policy is too extreme?"

I think our ads

need to directly address the mischaracterizations made against Dr. Paul as well as tap into the mainstream thought...

"They say Ron Paul doesn't want Iran to have nukes...
They said Iraq had weapons of mass destruction..."

"They say Ron Paul is anti-Israel but they give 3x the amount of foreign aid to Israel's enemies..."

"They say Ron Paul won't protect America... but they built a billion dollar embassy between Iraq and Iran and have done nothing to secure America's border..."

"They say Ron Paul will cut too much out of America's military budget, yet they profit from body scanners in airports and contract private military contractors at taxpayer expense"

"Who are they?" Then list people and corporations along with the monies they have made from war..."

Problem w/ Ike

The problem with Ike is that while his predictions about the military industrial complex were prescient, he intervened in Korea under just a UN resolution, so I don't know if that's a shining example. I would use it, but not dwell on that alone. Also consider USMC Gen. Smedley Butler who wrote War is a Racket. There is also the youtube of Gen. Wesley Clark talking about a foreign policy coup.

Korean War

It was Truman who got us into Korea. Under Ike a truce was negotiated that established the 38th Parallel as the dividing line between north and south.

Logic dictates that: Wrong action has to lead to wrong results; and right action has to lead to right results. Period. No exceptions.

Hey Thanks!

I'm glad to be corrected. You're right.

I think it's a great idea -

I think it's a great idea - here's a video that I think is relevant, not sure if any of it could be included though..
