UPDATE How Many People Have Heard YOU Talking about Ron Paul Today? Let's Commandeer the Local Airwaves with Kindness!Submitted by ItzDaTruth on Tue, 01/03/2012 - 13:55
Hello fellow Daily Patriots! I hope you all have had happy, heartfelt holidays so far and are are all looking forward to a bright and shining year ahead for LIBERTY!
After spending Christmas out of town, and taking care to only talk politics to receptive ears within my out of state friends and family (all of whom were MORE THAN RECEPTIVE towards Dr. Paul, to my amazement!), I got back yesterday and am so excited to get back to building the foundations for electoral success for the good Dr. here in El Paso County, Colorado.
To that end, in your own local communities, I cannot overemphasize the opportunity we all have to win the hearts and minds of the masses via a strategic use of our local radio and television airwaves. Clarity of message, calmness of delivery and honesty with regards to the intent of the call are all key factors that people pick up on, and not everyone is built to be an orator. Nevertheless, a simple message, honestly delivered will touch people, even those who don't have the ears to hear it at the time it is delivered.
Today I again had the opportunity to represent the campaign on the show of the oh-so-confused-neocon Richard Randall, on Colorado Springs most listened to AM radio show, heard by about 30-40,000 people per morning. I have spoken to Richard both on and off the air over the years, and while I certainly bemoan much of his political philosophy (or lack thereof), we have always maintained a respectful ongoing discourse with each other.
Today was no different, as while I was on the air he allowed me ample opportunity to speak, respond to questions and even to criticize both he and the role that he has relegated himself to in the media: that of an echo-chamber operator! Yes, I said that ON AIR!
The key to open discourse is ALWAYS mutual respect, and while he may not respect many of Dr. Paul's views (he began twisting Dr. Paul's words as soon as I was off the air, along with those of other callers), he does have a level of respect for me, and all it takes is one bridge to begin crossing even the most immense chasms.
So, those Patriots out there gifted in oratory, and especially those tempered with some humility and patience (no war of words is won with any ONE exchange), I challenge you all to take up arms and FIGHT FOR OUR AIRWAVES. Local talk radio hosts are ALWAYS more responsive and respectful to their callers and listeners (on average) than national hosts, which when coupled with the increased ease of getting on the air locally means that clear and passionate speakers are going to have a much better opportunity to effectively spread the message.
One last piece of advice: ORGANIZATION IS EVERYTHING, so ORGANIZE EVERYTHING! Know what the topic is (but prepare for curve balls), know what you want to say, prepare to get frustrated sometimes, and ALWAYS CALL FOR BACKUP! Listening to a conversation is an singular, passive, linear means of absorbing information: meaning that people can only listen to one thing at a time, only engage the information when they disagree (aka "think critically"), and can only be exposed to new info as the conversation naturally progresses. What this means is that the most direct, logical, and CONSISTENTLY-HEARD views are going to stimulate the most responses from the listeners of these shows, who are of course who we're really after anyway, right?
Stack the deck on these hosts, or should I say: reset the scale with regards to the honesty of the content broadcast on the air in your area. Before you call in, send out text blasts to all you friends whom you trust to speak on Dr. Paul's behalf asking them to join you in fighting to reclaim this country.
Finally, I will update this post just as soon as the podcast
of the show is posted (I know: post or it didn't happen!), so that those who are interested can hear just how powerfully the conversation is changing. Bellow is the letter I sent Richard in response to him having me on. Never back down in your convictions, and resist always the temptation to lash out from anger. Again, Peace, Love and Goodwill towards all is the message, lets live it! This is how we win the hearts and minds!
