Another convert, another $450 for the causeSubmitted by Elsensei on Tue, 01/03/2012 - 14:58
A buddy of mine just called, an electrician who wired my house addition a few years back. We've kept in touch ever since, and I distinctly remember arguing politics with him during the last election. He was fairly resistant to the message of liberty and Ron Paul as a candidate, though he was a gun owner so given time I knew there was hope.
Fast forward to a few months ago, southern california had a power outage and I hired him to wire my house to accept a generator. He never sent a bill but I knew payment was owed.
The conversation went like this:
Hey, Roger! What's up?
(jokingly) You ***hole. Thanks to you I'm now a ron paul supporter. I sent him $250 the other day. He is the candidate I've been searching for. I can't believe it took me so long but I read up on him and read some of his writings and the guy is so spot-on it's unbelievable. I've been telling everybody about him.
It was very satisfying to see a seed planted four years ago had sprouted and grown into an oak.
I'm truncating the conversation for brevity. But
as my friend Roger went on and on about his anger at how obviously the MSM was trying to suppress RP, how in Roger's opinion Mitt Romney was the one with "electability" problems, how he'd rather vote for Obama than see Newt in the white house, how while some people are wishing we had a third party in this country, he knows that the problem is that we haven't had a second party for 30 years, etc, I managed to break in long enough to say, "Roger, the best part is that no matter what happens, now you're awake. You'll NEVER go back. And by the way, what do I owe you for the wiring work?"
Roger: about $200, but I'll make you a deal. Donate that money to Ron Paul and we'll call it even.
