HuffPo: Why Young Liberals, Like Me, Will Vote Ron Paul

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- I've lived in Iowa my whole life, and as a senior political science major at Coe College, I understand the importance of being politically active. But the moves made recently by President Obama and Congress, coupled with some of the outrageous statements made by mainstream Republican candidates, have me nervous as the Iowa caucus fast approaches; whom can I vote for? Not a president who believes it is OK to assassinate American citizens overseas, or a president who would repeal all of the progress made to protect the environment and the rights of gays. Third party? Or just don't vote - a show of no confidence, like the Occupy Movement was doing? Then I realized there was a third option.

I worried about breaking the news to my friend Reid, a hard core liberal.

"Don't be mad at me," I told him, "but I'm afraid I have to vote Republican this coming election."

I'll read a story that is on HuffPo

but I won't go to HuffPo to find and read stories.

Fine. I clicked and went to

Fine. I clicked and went to make a comment and still my email is permanently deleted. AND for no reason I can tell. I do not post against the rules on any site,,

I went to occupy Boston,

and I knew from talking to the people, that many of them would end up voting for Dr. Paul.

Dr. Paul is THE protest vote, and about 75% of Americans are angry at their government right now.

Hopefully this bodes well for the revolution.

I am a socialist for Ron Paul

Because Liberty is defined by the constitution and our economic models are not. And my friends I would rather die destitute than be ruled by tyranny.

Libertarians bridge all economic visions;

check out Panarchy for instance. There is no need for one centralized Authority to control everything and everyone. People with different economic preferences can live in harmony and trade together, just as people with different religions can live in cooperative harmony.

The 2nd item of good news is that people living uncoerced are far more motivated and productive and responsible than those who live in tyranny. The really big mass starvations were all under Communist centralization (check Democide.) Elite control, no matter the ideology, can never be as efficient as open sourced economic freedom made up of peaceable, voluntarily trading people.

Thank you for supporting civil liberty and Ron Paul!

Now please consider supporting economic liberty and property rights as well! Consider that INITIATION OF FORCE in the name of "social justice" is always wrong and unnecessary in a free society. Honest, free markets create the greatest prosperity for the greatest number. The proper role of government is not to redistribute wealth after allowing banks and corporations to steal it from working people; it is to stop the use of FORCE and FRAUD in the FIRST PLACE. If we followed the Constitution, we would not have the economic problems we have today. It takes the power of GOVERNMENT to grant a MONOPOLY -- otherwise they would all be subject to the natural forces of competition in the marketplace. Big Government leads to the corrupt, crony capitalism we have today.

lol

I don't think you are much of a socialist. You like your liberty much more.

Thanks for digging into the reality.

It is so sad and disgusting

It is so sad and disgusting that Dr. Paul seems to get more love from liberals than his own party. Scumbags.

You say that as if

party affiliation actually really means anything, ideologically or philosophically, in the USA today.

Unfortunately, for the

Unfortunately, for the unenlightened, it means everything. Party over everything, don't you know?

Me thinks RP supporters have taken over HuffPo

If we all boycotted Huffpo...

We'd essentially deny ourselves the ability to forward great articles like this.

And the authors of good articles wouldn't be thanked

and praised as well as they deserve.

Forget Them

Many web aggregators are capable of "great" articles without mixing in celebrity, gossip, and swimsuits.
