Could someone reach out to Trevor?

Could someone reach out to Trevor? After all the money bomb website was he idea. Lets give him props for that. But having 3 different money bombs in the same month will really only confuse some people. I propose giving Trevor the first right of refusal for subsequent money bombs. After all he already has a mailing list.

Realizing that a lot of hard work and effort has gone into the other money bomb sites, perhaps a simply modification on those sites to promote gathering
100,000 weekly mini bomb supporters could be the best of both worlds?
If we are in it to win it, we have to understand that we need to raise $20 million a month. The campaign has already asked for $23 million to fund through Super Tuesday. Pledging weekly mini bomb donations from $5 to $100 per week, we only need an average of 100,000 @$50 a week to hit $20 million a month. Is that do-able? I would like to hear Trevor's thoughts as well as the designers of the other money bomb sites and the other donors. lets come to an agreement ,if possible, this is an up hill battle.

Realistically, in order to win, between now and November, we'll need close to raise $180 million or more. Hillary is expecting to have $140 million war chest for the general campaign, I'm sure Obama is not far behind that figure.

If Trevor is unaware of this you may want to

pass this along to him and his lawyers. That is, if you are concerned at all about causing any problems for Ron Paul.

Money Bombs vs. Mini Bombs aka Ron Paul's Pay Day

The law of diminishing returns in economics, the law stating that if one factor of production is increased while the others remain constant, the overall returns will relatively decrease after a certain point. I realize I will get some criticism for pointing this out, but please read my entire post first.

This is why Ron Paul's pay day may be a better way to move forward. By taking the variable out of the campaign, you actually increase production ( fund raising) . Initially the money bombs served their purpose, we proved Ron Paul's support was real. But most likely we have gotten as much mileage out of this, media wise, that is possible, with one more shot over the bow when all the candidates report third quarter fund raising later this month. Now we have to realize the campaign will most likely need $20 million a month or so between now and November.

IMHO, the risk of a single money bomb not meeting expectations far exceeds its benefit. Money is money no matter when it comes in, but steady money weekly to the campaign is far more beneficial to the campaign than peaks and valleys. 100,000 supporters willing to give an average of $50 per week, would net $20 million per month or $60 million for the quarter. Donations at http://www.ronpaulspayday... range from $5 to $100, so there is something everyone can afford. Weekly mini bombs may be the answer, long term. www.ronpaulspayday.com

In any event, assuming we win the primaries, we still will have to beat the Democrats, maybe Bloomberg too.So $20 million a month between now and next November is not far off the mark to build the type of war chest the campaign will need. Don't get me wrong, the money bombs are fun and exciting, however the law of diminishing returns suggests we may want to consider other options. I welcome all comments, suggestions and ideas. Perhaps we can reserve money bombs for the last week in every month to make up any shortfall? Of course there is no reason why both can not be done together. I would suggest advertising both on the money bomb websites to allow everyone a choice. By having the option to do either or both we coordinate the best of both worlds. Perhaps we set both a fund raising goal and at the same time set a weekly pledge of whatever is affordable. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ymbz6XrkXzQ

I tend to agree

I think another money bomb may actually bomb so let's concentrate on signing up thousands who will commit to a regular donation.

Perhaps do another money bomb a little down the road for a special day or need.

official

According to who? I'm signed up for it and one or two others that I don't recall (I hope they remind me). It was much clearer last month when there was just one or two.

Lets rethink this

I had no problem with the December 16th fundraiser. But I don't think we should be using MLK day for our purpose. I think it'll backfire. Look how they used Nov 5th in a negative way.

Lets just donate on a regular basis. It's time to scrap the money bombs. The campaign needs a steady stream of money coming in so they know how much they will have to spend. they can't sit around waiting for 3 weeks to know how much they will have to spend for the Feb 5th primaries.

Moneybombs worked great, but I think it's time to start a steady donation rate.

With such a large amount needed

Shouldn't we have a larger amount of time? I think "one week for freedom" is a great idea and should be promoted to get more people in the donating mood.

Trevor's money bomb should be included, but it does overlap from january 15th-January 22nd. There are some important dates in there like:
-Benjamin Franklin's Birthday
-Martin Luther King Day
-Battle of Cowpens, South Carolina

MLK was a public figure

Would we have to get Abraham Lincoln's ancestors to agree to use his image on a funding promotion?

MLK

Trevor and Vijay are heros of the Revolution. I have worked for our mission since early may, and not accomplished 1/1000th of what either of them has. MLK is a hero to me. It bothers me a lot to question this idea.

MLK has living relatives who own his ghost. They go after people who use his image without paying them - from CBS to the Park Service. I am almost certain that I remember them issuing a press release where they took on a politician who used his image or words. They attacked his positions, saying MLK would never have endorsed them. I googled for it for a long time last night, but I could not find it. I don't think so, but maybe I was thinking of this episode: I found a lot of blowback to a black republican group that used his image and talked about him. They were forced to withdraw their ad. It said MLK was a Republican, and in effect that he opposed affirmative action. (There's no evidence for the first claim, and the second one is demonstrably false.)

It does not matter who is right or wrong. Ron Paul should choose his own controversies. If someone gets sued, the case will not be resolved until after Jan 2009. You can't un-ring a bell.

There was a long discussion about this here a few days ago. Someone said that just the fact that so many could not get behind the idea was enough reason not to go with it. I think that's a good point.

Besides risking blowback, the date is too late anyway. The campaign will need money well in advance of Super Duper Tuesday.

Trevor and Vijay are very busy today, and will be until after the New Hampshire primary. Can we at least put this on hold until then?

That argument doesn't hold water. Lincoln has been dead for

over a hundred year. And I seriously doubt you would find any of his ancestors with a website that states the following about the use of his name.

i. I follow Trevor's lead. He fell into the role and has done a great job! These fund drives need to be focused and not a bunch of them everywhere, confusing people.

Trev's the man.

But if Trevor is wrong this time, it's Ron Paul who is going to

have to deal with the unintended consequences...you remember "blowback."

this one is better

www.benjaminsforpaul.com

one week to contribute-ends on ben franklins Birthday-we can all celebrate that right?

Trevor's got the largest

Trevor's got the largest list of emails, so he has the largest power to promote. I say the 21st.

I say in doing this you are opening Ron Paul

up to problems with the King family. Something that is not a very good idea.

People need to real give some serious thought about how this could turn very negative.

Did you get approval from

Did you get approval from the King family to do this?

I did not put it together.

I did not put it together. I had nothing to do with it.
The only reason I call it "official" was because Trevor sent an email out promoting it.
Trevor's blessing is about as "official" as anything can be in the movement can be. He's had a hand in the two largest fund raisers and the blimp, so that's as good as gold in my book.

Well, if the King family gets wind of this Trevor may want to

rethink his decision. This family is very legally protective of Dr. King's name.

We can just change the name

We can just change the name or significance. the focus on one date is the most important part.

I agree, make it another date, like

Ben Franklin's birthday or whoever. Just make it something that can not be turned into "blowback" or cause Dr. Paul any problems.
