I think we should have the courage to change strategy
Given what we've learned about single issue voters I agree with the post below that this should be sent out to democrats and sometimes independents as to not compete with the campaigns efforts on republicans.
The "on the fencers" say WOW
When the SB first came out, out Meet Up bought 1000. We started handing them out immediately. When we contacted people who knew about Ron Paul but where on the fence between him and another candidate, they would see the SB info and say WOW. After looking at just 2-3 items, usually the military donation chart and the debt chart, they would say they'd vote for Ron Paul right then and there. We use the SB in conjunction with the campaign's Slim Jims and found that to be most effective.

Most effective on indys
But not republicans
1) The campaign gets mail
1) The campaign gets mail rates cheaper, greater than 50% off for being non-profit and bulk mail.
2) The campaign targets its message based upon phone from home results, and other data collection.
3) The campaign doesn't oversell. Once someone is a supporter, it can only hurt us to tell them additional views that they may disagree with.
4) The campaign has experts at developing professional direct mail pieces, and has a multi-million dollar budget for sending targeted, professional, cost-efficient mail.
All analysis of the super
All analysis of the super brochure goes on in the echo chamber of Ron Paul fans who already love Ron Paul and his positions.
The fact is, most voters are single issue voters, and by showcasing all of a candidate's positions, offers multiple opportunities to turn a voter off.
The super brochures obviously didn't do that great, if we were expected to place top 2 in Iowa and got 3rd.
We can't say they are the reason we finished 3rd, but they certainly didn't get us a win.
Freedom and Reason, the highest ideals.
It's 2nd ;-)..
With #1 being separatedby only 8 votes.. That's a "tie". RP is realistically 2nd. Plus all 3 earned 7 delegates, so you could even say its a virtual tie.

How can it
Hurt? These are super voters, they are informed, and politically aware. When the good people of SC get the brochure with my name and adress on it from jersey, I think they will be impressed, at least 25% will go online and investigate, and that is how we plant the seed :). I see alot of comments about how this takes away money from the campaign, so be it, we are grassroots, this is what we do, and quite frankly, we have fueled the campaign so far. I am hoping the campaign can start going after bigger money, so we can be left alone for grassroots projects.
I'm not really seeing how it "hurt"
At worst case, you could make a claim saying "it hasn't helped proportionately to the money spent". But seeing how cheap they are to do, imo that's also a hard claim to make.
Even the Constitution had
Even the Constitution had amendments.
Look, the Super Brochure is awesome, but that does not mean it is perfect.
The reason so many people on here love it is because they don't need to read between the lines. All the missing details get filled in with their deep knowledge of Dr. Paul and the principles of liberty and Austrian economics.
You just have to understand that this brochure is not for you! It is for people that do not already understand these things.
If you put a polynomial equation in front of a sixth-grader they are probably going to hate math.
This is about the effectiveness of the brochure, not about "tricking" people or "integrity" of the revolution as some people have suggested.
Yes, we need to educate people, but expecting all of this stuff to click at once to a non-RP supporter is totally unrealistic.

Well, it worked enough
to illicate imitators...I got a Romney brochure in the mail yesterday. Not nearly as detailed - the bullets were the standard GOP talking points with no explanations.
Many of the present-day GOP talking points have been hijacked from Ron Paul regarding the economy - this one was no exception. It also went after Obamacare which made me laugh...
Empty platitudes to get elected.
“The law cannot make a wicked person virtuous…God’s grace alone can accomplish such a thing.” Ron Paul - The Revolution
Overall: Help
The Corporate Media is doing and active campaign of dis-information and attaching negativity to the name 'Ron Paul'
In spite of that - he's a front runner.
All of this makes people curious about him. Even the people that are being conditioned to write him off or even hate him without knowing anything about him.
The brochures act as a counterbalance to the mass media campaign against him.
When likely primary voters get one? Its attractive enough to get them to open it and glance through it ..
Its a positive blast of Truth in an almost overwhelming wave of pure nonsense and garbage.
And I believe it probably influences people more positively in the balance than otherwise.
Definitely helped.
Most comprehensive brochure out there with web-links.
Yes, it's informing people
And, it's a beautiful brochure. Quality. Classy. Represents Dr. Paul's quality integrity and character!

definitely helped...how the hell would it HURT Paul? I can tell you people would much rather get a brochure in the mail than an annoying phone call asking you to vote for a politician.
I can't see how they would
I can't see how they would have hurt Paul

Depends upon individuals
Everyone reacts differently to any form of media.
Phone calls-
I'll tell you this- if you call my house and the caller ID shows a number I don't know I'm not answering the phone. In other words- DON'T CALL ME....I don't care who you are.
Campaign paperwork for any candidate-
I'll look at it for a few seconds and if it doesn't agree with principles of freedom and liberty I'll throw it out. Certainly the Super Brochure describes Ron Paul and those great ideas he lives by and has promoted.
Appearance-
The Super Brochure has a very handsome format, full of information and easy to read.
Portability-
The brochure can be read, put down, picked up again and re-read, passed onto others easily. It requires no electricity or computers.
No other form of media than paper can do that.
Whether the campaign likes it or not doens't matter. The Brochure has reached a specific targeted audience which TV or phone calls can't do.
Yes, the brochure has reached

The campaign says it is hurting
You have to go with the experienced opinions and as what they are seeing nationally. If it was such a great thing, you think that they would not have come up with it?
How much did this guy make on them?
explanation here

"No army can stop an idea whose time has come"
Prove it
You say the Campaign says it's hurting. Alright- prove it.
Lastly, the Campign is funded by us- they exist because of us. Without the Money Storms there would be no RonPaul2012.
I hope the folks that produced the brochure made too much on it. Postage in mailing each brochure is probably the greatest cost involved.
IF they said it hurt
I would guess they meant in competing for potential donor dollars.
IF that is worrying the campaign, for my part, let me allay that. I give what I can to RP2012. I volunteered online. I am willing to do the legwork to put whatever material you might choose into the hands of the residents of my precinct. I have asked if there are any materials available from the campaign. I have asked to be put in touch with the state coordinator, so I might get some updated things, all I have left are slim-jims from 2008 and not many of those. It has been several weeks now, and no one has contacted me at all (except one email thanking my husband for volunteering and telling me to find the state coordinator on my own, I guess.)
The gentleman doing the super-brochures responded to my inquiry immediately and seems willing to give me some super brochures to pass out in my precinct, if my state matters when the time comes. (Fair enough, and not very likely!)
IF the campaign thinks this effort is taking funds away from them, maybe they should put that fear to rest. Funds "misdirected" to this effort seem to be doing at least as much good as the printed material the campaign makes.
Whatever else I said a minute ago, the last word I want to get in is
LOVE!
OK guys, I think I have the Answer!!
The Super Brochure is Amazing, to us...
Erik did an AMAZING thing, he gave us a Grassroots machine gun to fire back and gain support... Erik, lets not forget is one of us, he is MORE than willing to change the text to fit whatever it takes to get Dr. Paul elected.. So here I go, on a brainstorm, and please add or minus "YOUR OPINION" to my retake of the "new layout" as i'm laying out right now...
I think we can all agree that the #1 issue as this campaign has come along, is Ron Pauls "Foreign Policy" is the deal killer for most GOP voters. Why not redesign the "Super Brochure" as a huge truth teller on RP's foreign policy. Have Michael Scheuer head of the CIA Bin Laden Unit a huge part of the brochure with his statements facts and Endorsement of RP's policys all over it... Actually combating the lies the MSM tells everyday...
Lets make know the FACT that RP was the only congresman who voted "WITH ISRAEL" to take out Iraq's nucular program decades ago with the F-16 strike..
Read this historical fact guys: http://www.palestinefacts.org/pf_1967to1991_iraq_1981.php
Ron Paul is getting attacked BIG TIME on certin issues accross the board, why not turn the Suuper Brochure into a HUGE rebuttal direct mailer and handout as OUR answer to the MSM attacks..?
A lot of the posters on this thread have valid points.. Why tell everyone, everything about Ron Pauls policys when the focus is on his so called "electibility" center around one or two issues? Some vaild points were made, most of the information we prize in the current super brochure, most people don't know what it means, or they simply don't care about.
The Foreign Policy example is one of the major issues hurting us right now that we can easily edcuate and give truth to.. So IMHO lets do it!!
My brainstroming opinions, so far, on the Super Broshcure... do you guys think are valid? I'm just drafting my opinion right now, you guys decide, and maybe we can put something out their that is DEADLY ACCURATE to the MSM.
"Educate and inform the whole mass of the people... They are the only sure reliance for the preservation of our liberty."
Thomas Jefferson
Sorry for my brainstorm rant, it's super late here in CA, i'm going to click post, and pass out....
Yes. This would be one of
Yes. This would be one of the most important "bullet" points for the next brochure.

I'd also like to echo your sentiments in applauding how much Erik has advanced the cause! He took on a gargantuan task and nailed it. Probably the most far reaching idea by a Paul supporter, outside of the websites and millions of Youtube videos.
I agree about the foreign policy being his biggest hurdle with most GOP voters, who are accustom to hearing the war drum beat daily by the MSM. A few quotes from generals that agree with him would go a long way, also maybe include a link to the Gen. Wes Clark video on Youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f7NsXFnzJGw
But let's not forget to reinforce the positive. His plan to cut spending and allow Americans to keep more of THEIR money and turn the economy around. "Ron Paul trusts you with your money more than he trusts the government with your money." Also, be sure to mention that while cutting federal depts like the dept of education wouldn't mean schools would close down and teachers fired, but the money going to those depts would be given back to the states. Also maybe mention the NDAA and his opposition to the killing of our Bill of Rights. Lastly, I think we should emphasize that he is electable. That he is getting the same youth and minority vote that put Obama in the white house, That he drew in Indpts and Dems 8 to 1 over his competitors. And that his toughest test is winning the Rep nomination, the general will be a cake walk. << a little over confident on the last point, although I believe it to be true. And give links to the "compassion of Dr. Paul link" and Restore America now link, mention how he would only take 39k for his presidential salary. << I feel this isn't mentioned enough.
LET'S GET THIS BALL ROLLING!
The Super Brochures are a great idea, but need some minor tweaking now that we see how the MSM is trying to portray him.
We MUST combat the disinformation!
p.s. sorry for the novel

Here's your answer....
Bottom line - Ed Schultz - avowed hater of Ron Paul was on the air giving a "sincere" and positive review of the brochure and suggesting that everyone read it because it is SO great.
If your enemy is promoting it - you have your answer.
I think the posters remarks also give a keen insight.. The brochure is fantastic for one on ones. It's a negative for direct mail because the topic range is so broad - because everyone will have at least one thing on there they disagree with - and as humans - we have a tendency to focus on the negative.
Unless
"If your enemy is promoting it - you have your answer."
Unless he/she thinks that it will be bad for you. Not saying that the brochure was bad - I chipped in myself for both SC and IA, but rather challenging the logic above. It can go both ways :
1. Enemy converted or less bitter and is now friendly or respectful
2. Enemy promotes it because they believe it's not in your interest.
Are there any lies in the brochure?
The reason Ron Paul supporters don't fluctuate is because they want the truth and they come to Ron Paul to get it.
So fretting over peoples' initial reactions to the brochure is like basing important decisions on what crazy people or the mainstream media says.
It's bull.
It takes courage to be part of a revolution.
The founding fathers were not in the majority. And the Joe six packs of their day were fearful, slave minded and mis-informed.

Its not rhetoric. He's right
Never underestimate the naivete, ignorance, and general cowardice of the general public. In any country.
You can't base your decisions completely on over analyzing what you think the 'average person' is going to think about what you say and do.
It's a factor, yes. But when it comes to matters of life and death, or saving lives and property on a sinking ship?
... telling people the whole truth in no uncertain terms, without holding back is often the best option.
If it doesn't sink in now, it might somewhere along the line later.
You make interesting points
I completely understand what you're saying.
There is the danger of planting false ideas into people's minds that are untrue or represent over promising or could be perceived as an extreme position.
And it is a very real factor whenever you are trying to get a message out, in any medium. You never know how any individual is going to interpret what you said or how you said it.
Of course there is no way to educate people in the foundations of Constitutional original intent, Austrian Economics, sound money, central banking and the Fed, Actual (as opposed to Fake) global politics .. etc etc
So any brochure can only hit the most positive points as emotionally and strongly as possible.
You cant explain a point after they read it.
Granted. However:
The question here I think, is ... is the overall effect of the brochure - as a pushback against the deliberate attempt to marginalize and destroy the Ron Paul "brand" in the minds of Americans ...
...*more* positive than negative in the balance?
... will it turn *on* more people than it turns off?
IE: Will the brochure have a net positive affect on the amount of people that think positive, talk positive, or actually come out and vote?
VS the amount that *were* - or would have been - supporters but are not not after having seen it?
I'm going with positive. Guess it can only be a matter of opinion at this point, because we dont have any hard data to measure it.
But - no, I don't think its perfect or a Bible.
I do think its probably pretty powerful in enough peoples hands that it can educate them enough to sway them our way.
