Iowa Caucus Process?

0 votes

This afternoon I saw part of a report on CNN about how the Iowa caucus process works and it was very unsettling. Hopefully, someone can reassure all of us about how this actually works.

The report stated something like the votes are kept secret and only the percentages will be reported by the party officials. I don't know if this means the percentages will be reported by party officials at each precinct caucus level or county or just for the whole state.

If it is the state party officials (how many people is that--one?, twelve? representatives from each candidate or what?) it sounded to me like they could just make-up any percentages they want and announce that as the final word!

Somebody who knows please reassure me that there is real integrity to the process rather than what I thought I heard!

(Sorry if I'm sounding alarmist I don't like so many negative postings here, but IF this is the process we have to be concerned!)

Thanks!

That is very basic and it does not explain how the vote counting is done. CNN said it was secret but I still don't know if it is only secret at the final stage or from each precinct caucus all the way through.

Anyone with more information?
