Michigan campaign problems
I just called the national campaign regarding issues in Michigan.
There is no organization at the official level. there is a lack of communication, a lack of literature, and a lack of anything.
We know that we have 10,000 RP volunteers in Michigan, why are they not emphasizing this and using it to spread the message. In livingston county we are sign waving, lit dropping, and anything and everything we can. We are out of literature, we have no support from the campaign. Are any of you in Michigan dealing with this?
Im hoping to hear back from them soon. Things need to change.
**edit** I'd like to emphasize that I am working closely with the campaign. I am a county coordinator and trust me, I and my group are doing all that we can to get the Dr. elected. The grassroots is alive here. BUT, without the actual large scale efforts of the campaign, it remains small and isolated.
I would love to be in charge of things, as I think we can all agree the campaign should be directly hiring the hardest working grassroots wokers. None the less, they seem to be hiring some, and then some are complete political opportunists merely looking to give themselves something for the old resume.
We will keep working in Michigan, and I will keep trying to get notice of things here. Any other tips on what I can do to take things large scale? I am open to that for sure

Things have taken longer in Michigan because the partys were able to move the primary up and it was tied up in court quite a while. Had there not been a primary, advertising and campaigning here would have been moot but things are moving alot better now.
Since the summer, I've put several dozen signs up, mostly 2x4's some 4x8's and I've bought 'em and framed the stakes, and mounted them myself. Because that's what it has taken to get RP's name out there.

The national headquarters just released awesome walking lists for MI (and elsewhere). I signed up to be a precinct captain... its getting organized albeit a bit late. Lit is coming into the Detroit campaign office too.

I would like to pitch in and help.... Could you tell *us users* here on Daily Paul what we could do to help.... NOT with the campaign but on the side... i.e. do you need monies.... set up one of those little paypal thingies called *chip-ins* where other people have asked for help with their program and post it here and we can contribute... we sent $20 thousand in one night to one group...
Can we help sending you materials? Perhaps Iowa has used stuff they can send, etc. etc. etc. we are here to help in addition to the campaign (sigh)... I think that little chip-in could at least help your finanical problems...
any ideas/help from anyone else on this website??? Perhaps Jane can help - she is great at organizing people on daily paul...
Project MI
For some reason my intuition tells me MI is important. I am right now writing letters to there. I was contemplating going up there, but family matters have intervened. Yes, Iowa people who can should get up to MI!! Buy your own lit and worry about it later. Create a chip-in, if necessary. Yes, national should be better organized, but they're not, so we must deal with that reality. Most of us aren't waiting for HQ to send us stuff. I don't even want to count all the lit I've bought! There are so many resources here. Maybe another group could send you what they have for now? Put out a call for volunteers, then give them jobs to do. Keep up the good work!! We're all in this together.
When writing letters
to MI a lot are Democrats so not a good idea to talk about Reagan. Up here it is about the economy.

That ad was outright disgusting and unpatriotic. Attacking General Petraeus for the Bush Administrations (i.e. Rumsfield) botching of the Iraq war is wrong.
General Petraeus is an outstanding soldier, leader and HISTORIAN. The relative success of the surge is directly related to his understanding of counter-insurgency.

I am an intern there
I am an intern there and I really think the office being unorganized has a lot to do with national. I would almost fully blame national for everything. They never return phone calls and they never have any answers for us about anything. We just got a shipment of like 6,000 signs today but no stakes for them. One of the guys up top decided to send them on two different trucks. Someone had to drive down to Ohio tonight to get them. It took us 5 days to get a response about whether we could get phones and internet or not. Everything is getting underway now though.

So what. I drove my truck to the delivery place 80 miles north of here, and tied it into the back with the gate DOWN. Then I had to drive mountainous roads back to Manchester with hundreds of pounds of signs. The stands came a bit later. And I'm an old woman. Stop yer whining.
So you are an 'intern'? Does this mean you are paid? That is what a paid volunteer is usually called. Then you have no complaints. I did this from January '07 and never for pay. I hauled tents and tables and boxes of signs and lit all over the state of NH, all alone sometimes. And I was happy to do it. (Sounds like Adam Sandler's grouchy old man character, LOL)
I knew they were going to miss the whole boothing season/GOP outreach during the summer and fall if someone did not take the bull by the horns so I just DID IT.

New Campaign Office in Detroit
The Campaign just opened the office in Detroit. 7-mile and Telegraph.
They just hired a materials manager, and the office is pretty well stocked now... you can go and grab what you need. Plenty of slim jims, etc.
They (either the campaign or meet-ups) are getting walking lists out to county and precinct captains, etc.
Unfortunately because the primary was up in the air until the court ruling, no one wanted to invest in Michigan.
We have 2 weeks though, so lets make the best of it. No Democrats are running here outside of Hillary and a couple others... Lets get that anti-war vote.

I am well aware of the new offices. I work closely with the official campaign, and my brother works with the campaign. You are simply wrong about them being well stocked with literature and ready to go.
The fact is the entire state has been waiting on literature and sign orders for over a week.
I am a county coordinator and I can tell you that we are doing all we can, but we can only do so much. A large scale effort that should rival what is going on NH and Iowa.

You're probably better suited to lead the campaign in MI anyway.
It's easy to promote a message that is philosophically consistent.
You dont really need the national campaign aparatus to do anything.
Having said that -- HQ should start getting literature out there, as well as getting some other campaign materials out to anyone who is willing to take up the cause.
