Ron Paul "I went" photo going viral on Internet

Ron Paul's photo showing him with one of his children [Rand] while serving during the Vietnam era is going viral on net, in contrast to Newt Gingrich who said he was married and had children at time as reason why he didn't serve.

Grinchgrinch is without a doubt the most unlikable candidate--ever. I wouldn't say he makes Rudy Kazootee bareable but he could actually be more dickish. His tone, his guestures, as if he's talking down to the world with such brillance. This guy has been part of the problem since he showed up, and I'll say that about the rest of the GOP jokers that are left. RP2012 The Truth Wins Out

"I served" cult

Good for Ron Paul.

Why is it that for someone to run for the Presidency they must have been in the military to be considered "good"?

As for me....I would love to have said, "I went...." too. But, with the words "to Canada" after that.

It's not that it's " good " to have served

so much as it is " bad " to have not , and yet want to send countless young people off to fight endless, undeclared wars.

I'd vote for RS for that reason alone

Say wht you will about Bubba Bush -- pot smoker, skirt chaser, DRAFT DODGER -- those are the qualities I admired.

No disrespect to The Good Doctor (or to my own veteran self), but I reserve my highest respects for the RESISTORS of tyranny. I told my sons that if they, like their old man, elected to serve, I would support their decision, but if they chose to duck the draft, that I would hide them in the basement until I could get them to safety.

The ONLY disqualification ensuing from "draft dodging" is getting to advocate elective military action for OTHERS and not have the hypocrisy pointed out.

(also, as an aside.. ONLY vets get to use "chickenhawk" as a pejorative -- it's a verbal easement)

The reason that it means so much this cycle in particular

Is because every viable Candidate this cycle (other than R.P. of course) wants to follow the current policy of nation building and sending our young men and women into harms way around the globe, yet never served in the Military, putting their lives on the line during war time themselves (except for R.P. that is)

This photo should be at the

This photo should be at the end of every commercial where Dr. Paul says "and I approved this message!

I wonder if Ron Paul would go for it. Even though it's gone viral already, I can imagine him not wanting to exploit or capitalize on his private family life for the campaign.

But I like the idea anyway!

I sent the link to Drudge

You should too.

i dont understand Newt

he said he had a wife and two kids , so he didnt go for War,
on the other hand he said in an interview that his marriage suffered, because he was so patriotic and so much involved in his work ?
how can both of this be true ?
and then in the meantime, when he didnt go for war and his marriage was suffering - he had an affair ?

Seems like he should have

Seems like he should have gone and he wouldn't have been able to have the affair. Idle hands make work for the devil. :)

made a vid about this.

Ah, the old tan 1505 uniform...

I got some of the very last of those in basic training, back in 1976...

Honesty, Integrity and Incorruptible character that is Ron Paul.

Great Photo !

I'm using it for wall paper background on my P/C.

Just made this

Messed with the contrast and shadows a bit, and added text: "I Went" - Capt. Ron Paul, USAF (Ret.)

SteveMT's picture

Very nice high quality picture.

That's my new desk top. I alternate it with this one.

That's a nice bicycle.

Notice the front and rear paniers, saddle bags and the rolled up pant leg. He also has his radio attached to the handlebars (probably listening to the news). Not just a casual biker. I like that he bikes because I love to bike. I got him to sign my bike helmet. :-)

Rock & Roll

Doc was into rock and folk. It would have gone well with rhythm
of the bike sounds. He was still in to rock in the early 2000's.

60s analog photography looked so much better

I need to acquire one of those 60s color cams from ebay so my family pictures can look that good.

Too much terraforming and geoengineering in the skies now.

Just like the cameras back then, those 1960s skies can't be beat !!!!

also impossible...

...I believe the LAST lab developing Kodachrome film (which no doubt is no longer manufactured) closed up shop over a year ago.

Thank God

He looks a hell of a lot better than Dukakis did in that tank. Love those spiffy aviator shades.

Trendsetter - Vintage iPod

Ron Paul is such a trendsetter. Check out that vintage iPod he's sporting. Dr. No rockin' the moNOural in the '60s.

If you are not OUTRAGED, you're not paying attention!

no really,

what is that?

it's called a "transistor radio"

I was about ten years old when that photo was taken and I had one myself. Boys like me, growing up in SoCal, kept one hidden under the pillow while we were "sleeping" and listened to great stuff like THIS....

Unbelievable that guy is STILL doing Dodger (home and road in Cali) games on the TEEVEE. Dude is the "Ron Paul" of baseball broadcasters!!

Is the wire going to his ear an antenna or a headphone?

after I posted this picture as my profile pic on Facebook, my brother writes, "Ron Paul is so cool, he had an iPod in the 1960's."

Someday kids will be asking, "what was a TV?"

I think radio is pretty cool. You can build a transistor radio yourself fairly easily. I would use radio more often if the content was better. I seem to remember reading somewhere that radio can be used for internet, but it's not allowed or it got bought out or something. Think I'll go look into that now since I've already covered everything on the front page...
