CBS Poll: Ron Paul and Romney Tie Obama - Monday, January 9, 2012

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas, run neck-and-neck with President Obama in a general-election matchup, according to a new CBS News poll released late on Monday that shows the two front-runners in Tuesday's New Hampshire GOP primary running stronger against the president than their fellow Republicans.

However, Ron Paul is not the favorite among conservatives polled. Romney is the leader there, getting 90% of the conservative vote, followed by Texas governor Rick Perry at 85%. Ron Paul comes in tied with Newt Gingrich at No. 4 with 81% of conservatives voting for that particular candidate.

How the hell do those numbers break down?

If Romney is getting 90% of the conservative vote, how is Perry getting 85% and Paul and Gingrich getting 81% each? That adds up to 337% of the conservative vote. Does not compute.

Not all of them.

The numbers are for each candidate individually, in a theoretical 2 way race between Obummer and the eventual GOP nominee.

Ah. That makes a lot more

Ah. That makes a lot more sense.

UNELECTABLE

Well, that will be the case

Well, that will be the case if he is not the GOP nominee--who cares if he polls better than Obama if he is not the ballot in November???

Breaking news on CNN

Good evening, this is Wolf Blitzer in the Situation Room. Some new disturbing writings by Ron Paul were found tonight by our investigative team. In third grade, on a book report about To Kill a Mockingbird, Mr. Paul referred to African Americans as "colored" people. Also, new hidden camera video shows he puts his pants on two legs at a time, fueling speculation that he is both elitist and pretentious. Let's go now to our senior character assassination correspondent, Gloria Borger, Gloria.

Gloria Borger: Wolf, we have late breaking news to add to these reports. I was just standing outside the restroom that Congressman Paul was using, and I'm pretty sure I didn't hear him wash his hands. Oh, and he verbally abuses homeless baby dolphins.

Wolf: Wow, Gloria, that's some shocking news. Expect this to greatly affect Paul's run for the presidency.
