Paul Campaign To Republican Field: Drop Out, Unite Behind Paul to Defeat Romney

MANCHESTER, New Hampshire—Rep. Ron Paul's campaign called on the rest of the Republican field to drop out of the race and unite behind him in order to defeat Mitt Romney.

“We urge Ron Paul’s opponents who have been unsuccessfully trying to be the conservative alternative to Mitt Romney to unite by getting out of the race and uniting behind Paul’s candidacy,” campaign chair Jesse Benton said in a statement.

LAKE JACKSON, Texas, Jan 10, 2012 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Ron Paul tonight scored an historic second-place victory in the 2012 New Hampshire Primary. Below please find comments from National Campaign Chairman Jesse Benton:

"Ron Paul tonight had an incredibly strong second-place finish in New Hampshire and has stunned the national media and political establishment.

"When added to Paul's top-tier showing in Iowa, it's clear he is the sole Republican candidate who can take on and defeat both Mitt Romney and Barack Obama.

"The race is becoming more clearly a two-man race between establishment candidate Mitt Romney and Ron Paul, the candidate of authentic change. That means there is only one true conservative choice.

"Ron Paul has won more votes in Iowa and New Hampshire than any candidate but Mitt Romney.

"Ron Paul and Mitt Romney have been shown in national polls to be the only two candidates who can defeat Barack Obama.

"And Ron Paul and Mitt Romney are the only two candidates who can run a full, national campaign, competing in state after state over the coming weeks and months. Ron Paul's fundraising numbers -- over $13 million this quarter -- also prove he will be able to compete with Mitt Romney. No other candidate can do all of these things.

"Ron Paul is clearly the conservative alternative to Mitt Romney as the campaign goes forward.

"We urge Ron Paul's opponents who have been unsuccessfully trying to be the conservative alternative to Mitt Romney to unite by getting out of the race and uniting behind Paul's candidacy.

"Ron Paul has the boldest plan to cut spending, a dedication to protecting life, and a lifelong dedication to the Constitution and limited government. He also has the necessary support to campaign nationwide against Mitt Romney.

"Our campaign is already planning ahead for South Carolina, Florida, and beyond. Soon Ron Paul will head to South Carolina to begin a feverish round of campaigning.

"Ron Paul is in this race for the long haul. And he is ready to fight.

all the talk is that romney

all the talk is that romney is happy when ron paul finishes ahead of the others because ron paul isn't a threat to them.

but let's get real, if everyone dropped out and it became a two-man race, romney would not look forward to debating ron paul one-on-one. nobody would want to debate ron one-on-one, from rick perry to mitt romney, to barack obama!

one real curiosity i have is if everyone would somehow be out of the race after florida, would the media push for any more debates? if they did, would romney duck paul? i suspect that he would evade any one-on-one, and i suspect the media would praise him for it, being a smart strategy as the front-runner to just stay out of sight and not do anything to turn the tide.

@SPENTHOM

Working for the Remnant means working in impenetrable darkness; and this, I should say, is just the condition calculated most effectively to pique the interest of any prophet who is properly gifted with the imagination, insight and intellect

This is why i try hard to support this campaign

These types of letters are no nonsense and attacks at the establishment. For so long the establishment has been shoving us in the corner..we had no allies or friends on the "inside". We are coming after them. We are smarter than them and we are taking out Romney. Setting the stage for a true socialist vs a true constitutionalist. The intellectuals vs the collectivists. Yea, he should probably want the other candidates to hang around and steal votes, but this is different..this is about a 'no compromise' movement.

Ok this is a long shot
! but, Here it goes
JUDGE SUBPOENAS OBAMA

UPDATE: Attorney Orly Taitz website is reporting that a Georgia Judge has issued a subpoena demanding Barack Obama appear in court January 26 AND produce his original long form birth certificate, passport records, college registration records and more.

KEEP INELIGIBLE OBAMA OFF 2012 ELECTION BALLOTS – FAX THE STATES NOW!

pp_obama supeonea Dr. Orly Taitz, attorney for one of the plaintiffs in the Georgia eligibility cases working their way rapidly through the courts, posted a copy of what is reportedly a subpoena, issued by Judge Michael Malihi of Georgia.

The subpoena demands that Barack Obama himself appear in court on January 26,2012 and bring with him a laundry list of official documents that will prove or disprove his eligibility for office.

The list is frankly a "birther's" dream. Unlike previous cases, where only certain documents were requested or discussed, this subpoena issued by Judge Malihi includes every document that serious eligibility experts have been discussing from the beginning. The list requires Obama to produce each of the following:

Any and all certified birth records including a long form birth certificate.
Certified school/university registration records. Certified immigration/naturalization records.

article or anything?

Regardless of whether it's

Regardless of whether it's true or not, there ARE doubts about whether or not he's actually a naturally born citizen. I know the birth certificate he released had multiple layers--it wasn't a flat image.

It didn't have to be like

It didn't have to be like this, GOP. You wanted to play the chess match, so don't cry when it's checkmate.

Why would the campaign want

Why would the campaign want the other candidates to drop out when they know many of them would side with Romney over Paul.

I think the campaign is saying this to provoke the other campaigns to staying in the race and not drop out. That way they dilute Romney's votes.

No. Believe or not, only 5%

No.

Believe or not, only 5% of the gop actually gives a damn about foreign policy. Most of them want a conservative - a real conservative - who will actually get the government out of their life, lower taxes, cut spending, and reduce the deficits. Romney doesn't honestly speak to any of those things. Not really.

It is very possible for Ron to jump to 35-40% within the next few weeks if the right things are done.

If it were so easy

I see this more of a psychological push on the weaker candidates. A way to try and discourage them. This is a good tactic... its been used against ron paul forever now but he hasn't budged and is holding strong now.

I hope this works sooner than later but at least we may see dropouts after SC and FL.

I think RP is having fun with

I think RP is having fun with this. I think this is payback for the million times he was told to drop out and support the anointed one.

Mitt makes no Washington politician uneasy

he is the Wall Street candidate.
Newt Gingrich is the one who has the GOP quaking in their boots. The Democrats all think Mitt has the nomination sewn up. Start watching for the Obama administration to start rolling out their campaign tactics now that they are convinced that Romney has the nomination.
Without a true conservative as the nominee, the Tea Party is no longer viewed as a threat. So say thank you to Nikki Haley, and Micheal Grimm for their efforts to marginalize the people who elected them.

oh I forgot, what part of the OP statement

gets any of the other candidates attention?

Not sure what to think of the campaign's challenge.

Clearly, they KNOW that all other candidates are pawns of the Establishment, and therefore enemies to Freedom and RP.

The lone exception may be Romney, but he's the frontrunner. However, I do not believe he is a true Insider. I've said it many times on here, and often get ridiculed, but I think Romney is just deceived, as are most Christians/Mormons.

I think there is a remote chance Romney could wake up. ALL THE OTHERS have already sold their soul to the devil. And the campaign knows this, so WHY issue this challenge?

It must be a PR stunt for the neo cons out there. The campaign is just using this as way to communicate a major point -- that RP is the only true constitutional conservative out there. And the best!

"It is well enough that people of the nation do not understand our banking and monetary system, for if they did, I believe there would be a rEVOLution before tomorrow morning." - Henry Ford

Hello, i used to think this

Hello, i used to think this way too, that maybe Romney was an ok guy that was just misguided (I used to think this way about Santorum, too, and Cain...heh). But after seeing his campaign contributors (Goldman Sachs was pretty telling...) and the picture of him as a student protesting the people who were staging a sit-in against the war (he was exempt from having to go because he was a Mormon), I realized he was very shady.

Romney sold his soul years ago

Romney sold his soul years ago, if not decades.

He'll say whatever he can to snag the votes of the sheeple, but as soon as he got into office it would just be four more years of business as usual, which is clearly bankrupting the country and routinely shredding the Constitution.

He must be stopped!

Freedom is my Worship Word!

Romney had a soul?

when?

Romney is an insider on Wall Street

Look at his closest friends.

Go watch Inside Job.

Romney is to the White House what Paulsen was to Treasury.

How can you make decisions best for this country when you are constantly threatened by your friends (your closest friends will hate you) if they are hurt in an economic crisis.

The problem is that they were never conservative

Not really. Maybe one little issue here and one little sound bite there, but never really conservatives.

The problem is with the GOP.

They've done their darndest to marginalize Ron Paul. That has been a big mistake. It's not Ron Paul's problem, mind you. If the GOP had not been so over the top with disdain for Ron Paul, and even his supporters, the GOP would be riding high in popularity. Many, many people, some of whom don't even support Ron Paul, see the sleazy way the GOP operates, and how the media is so controlled. The GOP wanted it this way, and now, they've got it! Go Ron Paul!

Possibilities: Bachmann, Palin, conservative celebrities

Several candidates are total neocon sellouts: Newt, Cain, Trump. They'll never get behind Paul.

Others are too full of themselves to back someone else: Santorum, Pawlenty,

Huntsman? He'll back his Mormon brother.

But if some others (newbs) wake up to and are shocked by the neocon reality, we could get some support.

Palin has already shown some signs of waking up by backing Rand Paul.

Bachmann seems very principle minded and conservative in some ways.

But really we need conservative celebrities, politicians, businessmen, etc. to get behind Ron Paul...and we need to do it now. In particular, we need them shouting what a farse the political system and the media is.

Is there not one brave celebrity, politician, businessman other than the Rands willing to put their career on the line?

The only ones in the list that have not completely trashed Paul

are Romney and Palin. I have no hope for the others.

Can't help but think the Repubs are using the other candidates.

My theory is if they can prop up a different candidate in each of the early primaries to siphon enough votes from Paul, it will allow them enough time to convince the remaining uninformed/undecided that indeed Mitt should be the inevitable choice.

Iowa - Santorum spends all his efforts there
NH - Huntsman, spends all his efforts there
SC - amazingly Perry comes back and says on to SC, likely to be soon propped up by the MSM into 3rd place for SC after going "all-in" in SC.
Florida and beyond- where the house of cards crumble IMO

There is easily 30% of the vote being shifted to the "others" instead of the main 2 players.
