Ron Paul's Dangerous 2nd Place Finish in New HampshireSubmitted by MarcMadness on Wed, 01/11/2012 - 09:09
It's a popular meme for GOP candidates and establishment media pundits to paint Ron Paul and his supporters as "dangerous". "Ron Paul would be dangerous for the United States", hails war-mongerer extraordinaire Michele Bachmann. "They are the 'legalize drugs' group", exclaims a desperately floundering Newt Gingrich, speaking of Paul supporters. The goal here of course, is to paint Ron Paul as a drug-loving hippie who will let those evil Muslims take over the world!!!!
Luckily, nearly a quarter of the voters in early voting states of Iowa and New Hampshire have seemed to see through this propaganda, as Dr. Paul again finished strong in New Hampshire with 23% of the votes to Romney's 40%. This is quite impressive considering that NH is basically Mitt Romney's home territory, being adjacent to Massachusetts where Romney was governor and largely canvassed by it's media. The Paul campaign has also had to overcome a largely hostile media, who spent the last week playing down Paul's true surge in New Hampshire (he was polling around 10% there just a few weeks ago) and pushing Jon Huntsman as the "next big thing". Of course, Huntsman is basically Romney-Lite, as he agrees with Barack Obama on just about everything.
