(update) Article pulled, Blowback works! - Wash Times flat out lies and says Ron Pauls team created the anti Huntsman ad!

This has gone far enough. We need to make our voices heard once and for all over this. It is one thing to keep talking about it but another thing completely to flat out lie to the public. Ron Pauls campaign should publicly blast this disgusting article and call them out for purposely deceiving the public.

keep it civil

I think we should call this phenomenon

"the swarm"... like running over a yellow-jacket's nest, or disturbing a hive of hornets...

Haha, Good comparison!

Haha, Good comparison!

Holy sh*t?

Apparently I missed this whole thing. Just tried the link, and it's gone. It redirects to their main page... WTF happened?? Reading the stuff below it looks like we just cleaned house. Well done ladies and gentlemen!! :-D

On the Google news homepage

On the Google news homepage the article stated "Disgusting Jon Huntsman Ad by Ron Paul's Team" or something of that nature. Here is the screenshot I took before they edited it and eventually took it down. Click the image twice to bring it close enough to read.

:-O ... Oh HELL no she didn't!

Wow! Glad you all were on top of that!! LIBERTY PUNCH! :)

And great job w/ that screen shot. Man o man some of these people really piss me off.

In Liberty

Yeah I pretty much went wild

Yeah I pretty much went wild and called everyone at the WT. I wrote letters, on and on, and I'm still not done. The damage was done, it was irresponsible, and it was beneath the WT. They are usually much better than this, so heads should roll.

I wrote a nice little email this morning as well, lol, very polite but reminded her of her lack of investigative skills, lol, another victory for DP and Ron Paul, the tireless minority is setting fires in peoples minds everywhere, this passion can never die out, it will live long past Ron Paul

What victory? So they

What victory?

So they deleted an article after it was up for two days and got exposed to who knows how many readers without even retracting their statements or issuing any kind of an apology. The damage has been done which was the corporate media propaganda machine whore's original intent.

So again, what victory?

so what would be the better alternative

I told everyone to not go to her page because these people don't care if its negative of positive they get payed and raises based on webtraffic which I'm sure you contributed, I went straight to her contact page and emailed her, my strategy would have cause the mass of negative emails, but without the 300% increase in web traffic that she probably got because of us. Should we have done nothing??At least sending them a message that we pay attention and we won't let them keep this stuff up is better than nothing, or some unrealistic idea about forcing them to change overnight somehow. They can legally do this, they are not going to stop, the least we can do is pick up our balls and put up a fight!

She knew what she was doing.

She knew what she was doing. I know they expected a reaction just not as severe as it was!

I had only posted a one word comment earlier

And to the peeps who say don't click on the links: Lol we got the lies pulled off the internets! Great job fellow DPers.

Still waiting on my response from the FCC and CBS on their blatant skewing of the polls on The Early Show.

I was following the development in the comment section. The author eventually couldn't keep up with editing and removing the comments. LOL

They pulled it! So I was

They pulled it! So I was slammed for posting this and told we should just ignore it and it will go away! If we didn't issue blowback on them and just ignored it it would still be out there for future supporters to read. Well done guys, well done!

Nice to know the editor finally did the right thing

I sent two emails to jKubin@washingtontimes.com who runs the communities section. She also replied to one of my comments as she was deleting them, saying that she thought it was fair to delete those that were unsubstantiated. I told her if she is going to leave the video up and the edited article then she should leave up the comments too. She was trying to do the right thing. And finally she did.

Libertarians tend to oppose libel laws

Your support for Ron Paul is commendable, even honorable.

However I noticed in your original post itself you stated that "The campaign should threaten a lawsuit for libel". I would like to point out that libertarians tend to oppose libel laws/lawsuits.

For more about this viewpoint see Chapter 16 of Murray Rothbard's book 'The Ethics of Liberty'. A snippet from that chapter follows:

If an action is objectively non-invasive, then it should be legal regardless of the benevolent or malicious intentions of the actor (though the latter may well be relevant to the morality of the action). And this is aside from the obvious difficulties in legally determining an individual’s subjective motivations for any action.

Libertarians Don't Object to Argument!

One thing is, libertarians never seem to object to argument, so using communication skills to get someone to change their tune, is a useful skill to apply, whether individually or as a group.

What do you think? http://consequeries.com/

It's an arguable case though. I would classify it under fraud, unless the author is claiming free range fictional and artistic license. If you're purporting to be a producer of "truth" or "facts" and then you are selling something else, in that case you are committing fraud.

Eric Hoffer

If someone LIES about someone

If someone LIES about someone else, and it harms that other person's life, liberty, or pursuit of happiness, then that is an invasion against that person's liberty.

So, I'd have to disagree that suing for a harmful invasive libel act somehow violates some libertarian principle.

In any lawsuit, you have to prove damages.

Your argument confuses me

As I understand it the goal of libertarianism is to maximize individual liberty and consequently limit government intervention.

What do you think of the following position:

The fact that there are laws against slander and libel is what makes peoples accusations more believable than otherwise. If there were no laws, there would be private agencies for confirming/disproving such accusations and these kinds of claims would be taken with much more skepticism. Take the libertarian argument against state consumer protection and just change the words "consumer protection" to "slander and libel."

That makes sense too.

That makes sense too.

Yeah, I admit I was pretty

Yeah, I admit I was pretty hot headed and let my emotions get to me. Thanks.

You too huh?

I called the radio show that banned Ron Paul comments yesterday. I was very polite until the guy told me verbatim "You know he can't win, right?" At which point I completely forgot I was a Christian. Thank God I never made it on the air.
