DeMint: SCGOP Should Listen To Ron Paul

As evidenced by recent polling data, there is no more influential voice in South Carolina’s “First in the South” Republican presidential primary that U.S. Sen. Jim DeMint.

Thirty-one percent of SCGOP primary voters say they would be “more likely” to support a candidate backed by Demint – compared to just 14 percent who said they would be “more likely” to support a candidate based on S.C. Gov. Nikki Haley’s endorsement.

“One of the things that’s hurt the so-called conservative alternative is saying negative things about Ron Paul,” DeMint said Wednesday on a national radio show. “I’d like to see a Republican party that embraces a lot of the libertarian ideas.”

DeMint VOTED AGAINST

DeMint VOTED AGAINST NDAA!!!

http://freakoutnation.com/2011/12/16/the-86-senators-who-vot...

And without this guy, we wouldn't have SENATOR RAND PAUL!

I may not agree with everything he says or does, but this guy's a net win BIG TIME!!!

Mike

This needs to be voted up

as I've seen a couple of members saying that DeMint voted aye for the NDAA when a quick google search and Mike's post shows otherwise.

Common guys! Misinformation is the enemy!

You are seriously confused

You are seriously confused !!!

Item 218 "On Passage of the Bill S. 1867" He voted YEA

DeMint's side of the street

DeMint strolls on the fake conservative side of the street while his buddy Lindsay Graham strolls along on the true liberal side of the street. I'm done with Graham but I have continued to suffer a love/hate thing for DeMint. Bottom line....both of these a******s voted aye for NDAA which to me is a totally disingenuous act on DeMint's part and it reveals his true colors. He could have easily talked with the people of South Carolina and explained the dangers of NDAA but chose not to. He now joins Graham in my "done" category.

This played on Laura Ingram

And she AGREED with DeMint! How many "conservatives" listen to this show, and how many just heard one of their champions almost tell them "pick Ron Paul as your conservative alternative to Mitt"?

Notice he said

"IF we're going to have a frontrunner, who's NOT Ron Paul." Does that mean he sees Paul as a frontrunner?

I 'thought' that DeMint had already

endorsed someone... Can't recall who? But it wasn't RP...

Romney.. almost

He's been in the "Romney has it all wrapped up" bandwagon for a while. He and many others want the Conservatives to hold their noses and get behind Romney. Ugh.

how many RP backers would "hold nose" and vote for Romney?

Not me, that is for sure. I've been fooled by their game of Tweedle-Dem Tweedle-Re, far too many times. If it comes down to Romney vs. Obama I have no preference and, in a perversely logical way, will prefer Obama .... My logic is that if this nation hasn't the decency to support a decent man then it needs a much harder kick in the teeth and the sooner the better. I view Romney as just another attempt to continue the "game" for another round and I, for one, will have none of it.

Back to my original question, though: What percent of RP supporters would default to one or the other establishment candidates? What percent would fall -- once again -- for the old "lesser of two evils" schtick which got us into this cesspool to begin with? I think this is a really important question as it determines how much power we actually have. If we can keep Romney from winning merely by withholding our "nose holding" then we ALREADY hold all the power here ... and the moral high ground as well, I will suggest. If repug leadership feels, instead, that we are too weak in moral compass to hold our vote, then they will probably just persist in shoving Romney down our throats.

It's a bit of a game of chicken.

Bill of Rights /Amendment X: "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."

Do you need a politician or judge to "interpret" those 28

I wouldn't need to see poll results to know already

Among the people on the DP, Liberty Tree .. etc:

A very small percentage would fold and vote for Romney, or any of these other fake, plastic, liberty hating tools.

Once you understand fiat currency, fractional reserve lending, central banking, and the nature of government as a power center that attracts lying manipulative authoritarian sociopaths ...

There's no turning back.

We see the true nature of the problem.

And the nature of the problem - unaddressed - means it is only a matter of a very short time until we are well and truly f*cked and hung out to dry.

A large majority of us will *never* give our vote to anyone that is not tackling these issues head on.

Senator Jim DeMint endorses Ron Paul, almost!

DE MINT STARTED THE RECESSION!

I know this is off topic, but since i watched this interview, every time i hear his name i can't help feeling De Mint started the recession lol.

Funniest, most awkward interview ever!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sgt02iiJw5s

LOL

wow thanks for the video that is the funniest interview I have ever seen seriously it shows that anyone can just repeat the same talking points over and over.

DeMint is one of the few true Tea Partiers

In the vein of the Ron Paul-inspired Tea Party movement. In the Senate Mike Lee, Ron Johnson, Rand Paul, and just maybe Marco Rubio are also allies. We should be seeking endorsements from Lee and Johnson in addition to DeMint.

Susie 4 Liberty's picture

And here's where I get a wee bit 'confused'...

To which Tea Party "Branch" do you refer? I absolutely was a Tea Party Member/Supporter, and then I began to watch as the GOP tried to co-opt it...and then other splinter groups popped up. (I can count four just sitting here.) So, when I hear that the "Tea Party" endorsed someone, I always wonder...WHICH ONE?! The one that quoted from THIS site as they endorsed someone else...and sent the email out to their HIGHLY select group - who, so I've read -cancel someone's membership if his name is mentioned? (Was a 'whoops' that it got sent to a website that PUBLISHED IT... including the info on their Founder.)

And I've a feeling the 'original' Tea Partiers...inspired by RP...are probably on Daily Paul - just as I am!

Susie 4 Liberty

I am

From Utah and Mike Lee is about the only thing that makes me proud to be here.

Susie 4 Liberty's picture

Why do you say that, Amerirock?

Seriously... Why?

Susie 4 Liberty

DeMint is probably angling for clemency...

for when a President Paul Justice Department indicts him and his fellow traitors for the NDAA.

Rubio!? I think not :-)

Rubio!? I think not :-)

Glad to see that some

Glad to see that some politicians still have backbones and not all are sell-outs. Excellent find thank you for sharing it. I imagine that this could give Dr. Paul some momentum.

That turncoat Nikki Haley

and her fake "Tea Party" act needs to get the boot out of office at her next election.
That scum endorsed Romney. No real Tea Party person endorses Romney.

What Tea Party?

Romney got the most votes in NH from people who self-identified as Tea Party supporters. What does that tell you? Answer: "Tea Party" means diddly $hit these days. So, sure Nikki Haley is Tea Party, so's Obama, and McCain, and David Rockefeller - and I think Pol Pot might have been a founding member...(rolls eyes)

"Alas! I believe in the virtue of birds. And it only takes a feather for me to die laughing."

You are correct

the mistake the tea party did was allowing others to speak for them, They should have organized and identified candidates they liked to endorse, Instead they failed and now everyone just uses the name.

Thank you

Great find.
