Folks, PLEASE, get a GRIP here!

We KNEW Ron was going to be challenged in the same state where he took "5th" in the Straw Poll (remember?).

But the fact that Ron won the "independent" vote in Iowa speaks well of NH where 40% of the electorate is "Independent." Even CNN is now saying Mike's conservative, evangelical Christian base in IA will not be repeated in hardly any other state.

Ron placed 5th in the Straw Poll in IA, but have WON almost every other Straw Poll...a good indicator maybe?

Politics is NOT for the faint of heart, so TAKE HEART and let's buck up for the next go-round, ok?!

Freedom Fighters

We all are "Freedom Fighters" and we will march on and keep spreading Dr. Paul's word. 10% in IOWA isn't bad. I was out in Palm Springs Ca, with are meet-up group tonight handing Slim Jim's out and talking to people about RP. My husband heard RP got ten percent and became very sullen. Well I told him to keep his chin up and continue the fight. Hold that sign higher, and pass out those slim jims. That is what were are all here for isn't it? To help change America for the better. Keep believing, and don't give up hope! Ya hear!

12 days for Michigan Primary!

10% in Iowa and placing 5th are showing that Dr Ron Paul has a great chance of being in top three in the rest of the states to win the nomination. Despite mainstream media sabotage he is on the top 5. Do you notice all those on the top one to four are mainstream media darlings? But despite their media exposure, the 3rd and 4th only got 13% each. That is only a 3% difference from the 10% of the good Dr. The 10% is solid and true representation of individuals. Let us continue our fervent support to Dr. Paul. The Super Tuesday is fast approaching also. I agree, let us hold up the signs higher, cover more precincts and talk to our neighbors, meet new Ron Paul friends, all them all again to remind them to get out and vote for Ron Paul. Yesterday is only the beginning. The race for Dr. Ron Paul and freedom, peace and prosperity has started. It has just begun. There is yet a long mile to the finish line in Minnesota on September 1 - 4. Get charged up again and again. Here in MI, we are also prepping up to reach out to as many Precinct Delegates as we can. This is our next action agenda. The search for Precinct Delegates, who supports Dr Ron Paul, is on. Let us continue the fight for freedom, peace and prosperity. Let us stand up even much more stronger, bigger, and wiser, Charged to the finish and have fun! The good Dr. wants us all to have fun.

You are right

Tonight was a victory, and we need to keep pressing on. Lets keep canvassing, and RAISING MONEY! we never get press except for when we raise money...so, what's the plan?????

I am very optimistic about

I am very optimistic about our turn out tonight. However, I think the main lesson we need to learn from this shouldn't be "Keep it up" it should be "TRY HARDER!"

The CSPAN-2 Coverage of the Carroll County caucus didn't have a spokesman for Ron Paul to win over any undecided voters... This is a MISTAKE....

If no one else at your local caucus is going to stand up for Ron Paul... DO IT YOURSELF!

This is already a huge grassroots movement that is very excited and very enthusiastic... lets not let tonight bring us down, but FIRE US UP!

Regarding Ron's 10% finish this evening....

.....let's put it in perspective -

Rudy Giuliani finished MUCH lower than Ron Paul this evening.

But as much as I/we despise Giuliani, I realize that even HE will do much better in the states he is focusing on, such as Florida, New York, and a few others.

Iowa is an extreme (and early) microcosm of things yet to come.

And correct me if I'm wrong, but Bill Clinton was trashed in Iowa and New Hampshire, but somehow he shot up in popularity late in the game.

Of course we're a tad disappointed in Paul's showing tonight, but let's be realistic about what will happen in the long-haul.

Not for the faint of heart indeed

This is the first round, the fight just started. Are we quiters who will run at the first sign of trouble? I don't think so. Besides, nobody speaks for me, I will let my voice be heard when my time comes.

Keep up the fight

Just remember that Dr. Paul has been keeping up the valiant fight for freedom for 30+ years. He's done it all these years even when he was the only voice of reason with everyone else voting against his position in Congress. It must have been really lonely and frustrating most of the time to say the least! So putting this in perspective of what momentum the freedom movement has gained from what it was languishing at before, a 10% start isn't too shabby.

Also, even though we all really hoped for at least a 3rd place finish in Iowa I think there is an upside to this. The top placers will be digging up so much dirt on each other with attack ads and attack articles. I expect to see Huckster's record as Governor- his tax hikes, his snafu with releasing a convicted rapist who murdered, and his other illicit and embarrassing history to be publicized more widely.

10% is just the beginning for our fight for liberty!

your 2nd paragraph is an interesting point

And Wolf is just now saying there is a "long, LONG way to NH!" He's right and I think you are as well. Let 'em fight it out!

On To New Hampshire.......

I'll take a double digit showing in a state where we finished 5th in the straw poll. Time for me to get off-line now. I need to start getting ready for my 6 hour drive from NJ to New Hampshire this weekend to help out. My brother is driving up from Tennessee to meet me there.

Keep your chins up gang..........

Iowa is a lot different

then the rest of the country. Of course Huckabee was going to do well there. Fred can't drop out now being so close to Mcain, this is a good thing for NH. This is not a sprint folks. It is a marathon and we have got to find the endurance to keep going. Who thought this was going to be easy? There used to be a time when almost no one thought the way we do. Things are changing. Stay positive. We will have our day. It could be NH. It could take a much longer. It could take 5 years but are you going to give up if it does? Not me, No way!

Breathe people

Everyone, breathe.

We got our hopes up on this. But it is an accurate reflection of reality and a good one at that.

We've known that Iowa would be a weak state. Moreover, the Ron Paul campaign knew. That's why they have been campaigning ALL OVER, not blowing their wad of cash on Iowa and NH alone.

So take heart:
1. We STILL have not seen the results of a GREEN state in terms of the donation graphs on ronpaulgraphs.com. Iowa was not very high at all on these graphs.

2. We WON on the number of independents voting as republicans in Iowa. That is HUGE news, and can only help us in New Hampshire (ironically, it makes Obama more of a threat than we thought, but oh well).

3. No matter what, more people will see his name now.

4. There's still another 10,000 or so votes to go!

Iowa does not count

They have not really mattered for years.

It just disgusts me that they don't care about their children.

I want to leave their children a free county and their constitutional rights. I guess that is more than their parents want to do.

Huckabee and CFR

Some of you may not know that Huck is now being advised (groomed) by CFR President Haas. This should send chills up your spines and make you realize that his candidacy could therefore be extremely viable as THEY pave the road for him.

That's right!

We have just begun. Do not get down hearted. Anything worth having is worth fighting for my friends! This stirs me up, bigtime!

Think about it! WE GOT 10% with the the crappiest media coverage of ANY OTHER candidate! This actually is amazing! WE did this with the corporate media working AGAINST US! WE did this with the whole damned Iowa GOP brass working against us!! You may not believe it, but we have won a very important skirmish here.

I will not be dishearted and let those extremely hardworking volunteers in Iowa feel like they worked in vain! Those good people busted their asses and froze for Ron Paul, me and all of us here!!!!! WE all owe them to keep our chins up and dig in more, DO NOT LOSE YOUR RESOLVE. If you thought this was going to be easy, you should not have signed on.

Get up, dust yourself off and get back to work. We have miles to go before we sleep! (Thx Walt).

Ron Paul 2008!

great post, Mash

Enjoyed that one a lot. Thanks.

What is begun in anger, ends in shame.

Yes, thank you Iowans!

You did a great job out there! You've passed the baton to us here in New England, and we're going to keep the momentum going!!!

On to NH

I will fight to the end.

Let's stay positive

Everyone hang in there, this can only encourage us to redouble our efforts. I know I'm fired up tonight. 49 more contests to go, we can put Ron over the top!!!!

furthermore

how many of us have friends in Iowa????

Thanks Jeff

My sentiments exactly. This is Huck's 15 minutes....it will be over soon.
And they were making fun of who would come in behind Ron Paul -- Rudy, Duncan, etc. Ron is only 3% away from third.

You're welcome, Jane :-)

Now the ball is in YOU FOLKS' court...LOL!

positive!

Yes! Good points... if you're new to politics (and I know many of you are), hang with us. We're right on track. Wyoming, New Hampshire, and Michigan are there for the taking.

Huckabee has less money than Ron Paul... and a lot less between the ears. His success will not last.

Right on man! Seriously, I

Right on man! Seriously, I don't think Ron had anywhere near the kind of support in Iowa as he does in NH. 3rd or 4th would have been nice, but realistically we are talking about a few thousand votes. Lets focus on NH and forget about Iowa, everyone else will in a week anyway.

Very good point Jeff
