Joke of the day: Obama to seek smaller government

that actions speak louder than words. This is coming from the Peace Prize winner who has overseen the killing of thousands around the world for the last 3+ years.

Really, this is a parlor trick that politicians use - they used it here in Michigan before - they combine agencies and call it shrinking the size of government, meanwhile spending more than ever. It works to fool a lot of people.

2 things...

A. We're winning. Ron Paul is the only one that ever really speaks about reducing goverment agencies and jobs. The fact that other republicans and Obama are now parroting Paul's message, definitely shows something.

B. $3 billion saved over 10 years? Are you kidding me, probably less than 0.01% of the total budget

Gee! What a great plan! It will cut THREE Billion dollars in 10 years! (How much does he want to raise the debt ceiling?) Sorry, NO more raises, no more taxes, BUD. Make it work!

And he needs to raise the debt ceiling 1.2 Trillion to do it!

This is just rhetoric he can use in the election cycle, he knows congress won't give permission to do anything because he's not qualified to know what needs to be done. So when he's out campaigning or debating the GOP nominee (Dr.Paul) he can say, I tried to reduce government, they wouldn't let me :( I can can only give executive orders to murder people I can't do anything useful for the people with my power.

If Ron wins the Republican nomination, Obama better start looking for cardboard boxes.

there has been examples of small government and low taxes under a dictatorial style political system.. i guess he wants to be the dictator and possibly a libertarian-ish economy.. there has been examples like that in thousands of years of human tyranny.. european economy in the renaissance was one that was forced with limited government on taxes and economy by neighboring competition

the problem is that his successors can use the same power he uses to shrink the government to expand it back up 10 times, and nothing will start them at that point whether they want to conquer the world or whatever it may be. this is why progressive ideologies fail.. it always fails way faster than however long it may have remained successful. one can argue that a free enterprise system always fails eventually because people stop caring about corruption and systemic problems after they enjoy a good life for too long, yes, one may lay the case for that, but one thing is certain--a progressive government will fail that much faster. you start by entrenching open doors in the government, rather than people slowly hacking the doors into a limited government through multiple generations.

He wants more power to shrink the government and then followed by combining some agencies. This guy thinks we're ignorant. How can he shrink the government's size by just combining it? More like consolidating it into one ginormous ball of mess.
