An Open Letter To Ron Paul Supporters

Apologies. I had to repost as I placed this in the wrong forum.

To Dr. Paul's Supporters,

You are all absolute true heroes of freedom. You have taken a virtually unknown candidate from absolute obscurity to a major candidate. Your work is literally changing the face of a presidential campaign. This is empowering...this is inspiring.

A double digit finish in Iowa is success. Although not at the top of the pack, Ron Paul is making an impact on America that is hard to deny. He's done it in the face of a party that has literally spat in the face of his ideas. He's done it in the face of a nation that still does not understand the basic tenents of monetary policy or even their own political history.

Here is why you should stay positive:

Reason #1: It's Only One State
Less than 1% of the American population. Don't fret, it's a long road ahead

Reason #2: It's a Conservative State
The evangelical vote made its impact. We can't ever expect to convert a voting bloc that votes strictly on religious lines. Irrational voting leads to irrational results

Reason #3: Revolutions Take Time
It is very difficult to convince a population on sometimes complicated issues in such a short period of time. Ron Paul's message has been adopted by the Intelligent, The Frustrated and The Young the three groups who usually make the most educated vote. We've hit the Driest Tinder. It's now time to work hard on simplifying and spreading our message.

Reason #4: The Independent (Libertarian) Option
Let's be serious, the republican primary is an excellent test ground for an independent Presidential Campaign by Ron Paul. Ron Paul is not stupid...a run for President as an Independent is still a very real possibility. Think about the momentum, Think About the possibilities.

Reason #5: Liberty is Brewing
Even if Ron Paul loses, he's started a movement that is sure to instigate others to follow in his path. If it isn't Ron Paul this time around, there is a huge army of followers sure to follow his ideals. Liberty is taking hold...don't give up.

There are many tales of successful people that have faced adversity, naysayers and constant rejection. It is not easy to change a country and an ingrained system. People are sheep, they reject change. If you are kicked you get right back up and keep on trucking.

People, we are trying to change the world. It will take an immense amount of hard work to change people's perceptions. This is not an easy task.

Keep moving forward, Keep Believing. Keep the Revolution Alive.

Um.

I just have to say that Ron Paul is neither "virtually unknown" nor "obscure". He has never been. Not for a long time.
Ron Paul has always been quite popular with those seeking liberty. On an international scale as well.
Good post though.
Down with fox!

Go Ron Paul!

none are more hopelessly enslaved than those who falsely believe they are free.

Excellent Points

Thank you for this post.

He should stay in the Republican race as long as

he's viable, and given the historical confusion in the Republican race, he's viable baby, he's viable.

But if it gets to the point where his message of freedom cannot get out any more, then I urge him to find whatever soapbox gives him the loudest speech, and if that's the Libertarian Party, so be it.

Freedom is too important to give up on it. And Ron pulls heavy on Indepdents and even some Democrats.

But let's not go there now...

Focus on NH!!! Get out the vote

Remember our model. There is a long road ahead

I would just like to remind some of you that a total win in a fight like we are in is not only possible, but highly probable.
Living in Iowa alone, we already have proven we more than 3 times the fighters that George Washington had for the first Revolution, and of course our Fathers were successful. Recall that Washington lost several "skirmishes", was at the point of total despair, hungry and cold. It lasted a total winter.
With determination, with the active backing of less than 3% of the population, disregarding the nay saying of the cowardly masses, he crossed the Delaware and began the process of taking ground for the people.

I submit we took a piece of ground last night. namely, Jefferson County, Iowa.

We shall prevail. Faith is a wonderful thing when people are united in a cause that is right and proper.

As John Paul Jones said, with his ships outnumbered and under attack, many on fire and the masts of others lying horizontal, "We have just begun to fight.

Congressional race

Watchman-
Does Jefferson Country have a congressional race with an RPR candidate?

I am a Christian too ...

but I see the effect of these "psuedo" Christian candidates on some of my peers. Sometimes it's because they dont take the time to do their own research, so they see Huckbust on TV, he spouts a few good CHRISTIAN lines, and they say "OK, Well he seems ok, and he says he is a minister so I'll vote for him"

What I dont get is how easily people are swayed ... I finally convinced my family to vote for Dr. Paul no matter what, and after explaning the CFR and telling them that Huckabee is a member, they now see him for what he truly is.

When I am at work, I dont have to TELL everyone that I am a Christian, I live my life as one. That's what the bible tells us to do -

If we did a "fruit" comparison between Dr. Paul and the Huckmiester Dr. Paul would be way out in the lead without using CROSSES in his commercials OR bragging about a THEOLOGY degree that HE DOESNT HAVE.

I'm a Christian

I'm a Christian. Most everyone in my church is voting for Ron Paul. And, we are doing so for Christian reasons. The Home School Legal Defense Association has done a good job of firing homeschoolers up for Huckabee and lots of homeschoolers are willing to work really hard for candidates that they believe in. Ron Paul is MUCH better on the homeschooling issue than Huckabee is. Ron Paul is even better on the pro-life issue than Huckabee as Huckabee is in favor of spending our tax dollars on embryonic stem cell research as long as it comes from existing lines (he removed that information from his web site though). There are a lot of Christian reasons to vote for Ron Paul, so, don't bash Christians. You need to win them over.

Not Christian Bashing...

I am a Christian too.

You have to admit that there are a lot of Christians out there that don't necessarily put their religion first when they go to the polls. The "evangelicals" the author references are exactly those. The same evangelicals that antagonize gay people and vote for unjustified wars will not be receptive to RP's ideas about peace and tolerance.

Criticizing some Christians is not Christian bashing.

Evangelicals for Ron

Dr. Paul got 10% of the Evangelical vote--(see exit polls at www.msnbc.com). That means the evangelicals voted representatively--any other groups are equally responsible.

I strongly oppose gay marriage and strongly support Ron Paul (by the way, opposing gay marriage is not the same as intolerance). Ron Paul is the natural evangelical candidate. Let's get the word out to the churches--esp. about Ron's integrity and that Huck doesn't always practice what he preaches www.judicialwatch.org (see 10 most corrupt politicians).

Please Don't Diss Christians

Please don't diss Christians like you did in point No. 2. You don't know what you are talking about. I'd be happy to elaborate if you like but suffice it to say that many Christians support Ron Paul, who is by far the most sincere, most mature Christian in this presidential race. It is definitely a mistake to portray Christians as "them"; many Christians are "us" and the number will surely continue to grow.

God is the LOVE in the Ron Paul rEVOLution: "Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. This is how God showed his lo

Two words: Corn subsidies

That was really working against Paul in corn fed Iowa.

Amen.

But I try to call it "ethanol welfare," because the word 'welfare' makes for amusing emotional reactions among 'conservative' recipients. Same idea, though.
JMR

agreed

Stay with the Good Dr. till the end support him even if he runs independant as soon as this war starts to get worse he will grow bigger He's the only contender who can claim he didn't vote for the war the MSM media like msnbc and fox have virtually ignored him and have attacked him except Tucker and Pat bucanon when ever he was on

He needs a few big name endorsements someone who will grab peoples attention
Maybe Duncan Hunter and Allen Keyes Would support him they both are similar to Dr. Paul they'll take anything in the White House that is offered Duncan hunter is not running for Re-election
Give me Liberty or Give me death

Give me Liberty or Give me death

Paul gets 10 percent, despite being against corn subsidies.

I consider tonight to be a major victory. Please remember that Iowa's entire economy revolves around corn. Ron Paul has consistently voted against a corn subsidy for Iowa and because of this it was a foregone conclusion that it would severely hurt him. The fact that many Iowans voted for him (seemingly against their own economic interests) is a testament to the fact that people out there are truly getting the bigger picture. I am counting 10 percent of the vote to be a major victory. Lets win New Hampshire. After, the state motto is "live free or die"!

This is the most compressed election cycle ever -- so taking time is not a reason for hope :(

Actually

Time is on our side. The US will still be here and the Revolution will still be educating people no matter what. One event or fifty events are not everything nor the end of time as we know it.

The tea party was in 1773 and the revolution took a few years to really gain its full steam and come full circle in 1776. Pauls parents lived with good health into their 90's plus now there is a whole army of us slowly climbing the ranks of Liberty!

Thanks, good letter

Please delete 4 and 5.

5 is a defeatist attitude.

4 is a the same as "write in" candidate.

Ron Paul will not be allowed to be on the ballot in many states after running as a Republican.

Those are the facts

perspective!

Nice job Baggio. Put things in perspective for us. We're doing quite well.

your 3 out of 5 are right

I liked your first three reasons. Leave the last two out the next time, please. Listen to the good Doctor. Running as an independent is not an option. He understands his best chance at the Presidency is to win the Republican nomination. You should remain focused on that, too. Ron Paul CAN NOT lose this "time". Failure is not an option. Our Country and our monetary system can not stand it. Eight more years of the same will bury us. We don't have that much plastic capital available to last longer. But, to end on a positive note, your first three points are spot on and we'll take them all to heart.

Do not settle for anything but VICTORY!

O Captain, My Captain, rise up and hear the bells!

its 'cos I owe ya, my young friend...

This is only the beginning, we still have 49 more to go, keep up the good work :)

Good to think about.

Thanks Baggio

I'm going to print out your open letter and frame it. A good reminder as most of us are in this for the long haul...the very long haul...and there will be many setbacks and many victories.

Wisdom from someone who obviously knows. Thank you!

If Ron Paul can't win as a

If Ron Paul can't win as a Republican, he can't win as an Independent.

Ron Paul can win, period.

Never say never! The key is to get the average American to WAKE UP!

First we need to make the People fully aware of the sham that is our voting system. We can start with a full frontal assault on voter fraud through aggressive court actions and media blitzes combined with boycotts of any media that fails to cover the issue. We've already seen the positive effects of a boycott on a small scale thanks to the FAUX forum issue - imagine a boycott that attracts the attention of millions of concerned Americans from all political affiliations! There are still TONS of Democrats who are plenty peeved about results of the last two elections. If we can blow the lid off things like the Diebold fiasco, then whatever level of trust people have in the system will be shattered. We can then make huge inroads into the media bias issue, and this will directly benefit Dr. Paul.

Once we have the attention of a larger portion of voters, then we will really start to see major changes in the way the People think about the IRS, the Fed, socialized medicine, etc.

It is also possible that the major economic disaster that many astute economists have predicted will come true before the general election. In this case, all bets are off. While none of us should want to see this happen, the "I told you so" factor would quite possibly be enough to put Dr. Paul's message over the top, which brings me to our last and possibly best hope - the write-in vote. It is completely legal and Constitutional, and requires a hand count if done properly with affidavits (see http://www.writeinronpaul.com).

IMHO

Exit Poll

We should have always been doing an exit poll. We still need to do a 100% exit poll. It is so easy. I don't understand what the hold up is. But it cannot be done by one candidates people. It needs to be done by a combination of the "third" parties.

He would win

If Ron Paul got the Republican nomination he would win - if for no other reason than his broad appeal across party line.

The tricky part is getting the nomination from a party that has had such a vested interest in the war for so long.
