The Power of the Internet

I received an email from Bill Stegmeier which read in part:

I have supported Ron Paul with $100 -$ 200 contributions yearly for at least ten years now in his always successful bid for re-election to his Texas US Representative position (and I am from South Dakota!). Now he's running for President, and all the other candidates that are running are, well, running from him!

That said, I want to encourage everyone to buy and read the short book by Joe Trippi, The Revolution Will Not Be Televised. This is the internet idea that Ron Paul has also adopted and is using, and it's working. Here is the description of the book:

When Joe Trippi signed on to run Howard Dean's 2004 presidential campaign, the long-shot candidate had 432 known supporters and $100,000 in the bank. Within a year, Trippi and his team had transformed the most obscure candidate in the field into a Democratic front-runner with a groundswell of 640,000 supporters and more money than any Democrat in history -- mostly through donations of one hundred dollars or less. Trippi's revolutionary use of the Internet and an impassioned, contagious desire to overthrow politics as usual grew into a national grassroots movement and changed the face of politics forever.

As Trippi argues persuasively, the Internet is distributing power to the people right now. And the companies that understand the coming revolution will be the first movers in this new era, while those that wait will be left behind. From his behind-the-scenes look at Dean's shocking rise and fall to his "seven inviolable, irrefutable, ingenious things your business or institution or candidate can do in the age of the Internet that might keep you from getting your ass kicked, but then again might not," Joe Trippi offers an inspiring glimpse of the world we are becoming. And he shows how power, in the hands of all of us, changes everything.

-- End description.

You can get the book "used" for as little as $ 3.00! And it's powerful.

This is where the Ron Paul Meetup idea came from, and I am proud to say that I was the first to start a Ron Paul Meetup group: South Dakota for Ron Paul

(Please don't get me wrong, just because I was the first "Ron Paul Meetup" group doesn't mean that I am (any longer) thinking I'm great for doing it. As you will see, the idea has left me in the dust, which is fantastic!)

And now, in just a little over a month, Ron Paul has over 160 "Ron Paul Meetup" groups with over 5,800 members! I will confidently predict that within one month from today we will double the number of groups we presently have. I will not be surprised if it's triple. (One reason is that the NH debates sponsored by CNN are coming up June 5! Watch it and vote for who you think won! Hint: Ron Paul!)

Ron Paul, what a refreshing breath of non-stale political air! So come on, get on the stick and do something! Go to I would like to thank everyone in advance for getting off your butts and helping to save our country.

Oh, and your children also thank you.

Bill Stegmeier

P.S. I will be announcing a "South Dakota Ron Paul Meetup" soon.

Thanks Bill! The book sounds great - I ordered it. I'll post a review of it once I finish reading it. Excellent work with the Meetup stuff. I've got a link to the Ron Paul Meetup on this site's main page, just below Dr. Paul's picture.

Ed Sultz Show Link

Norman Goldman hosted the will enjoy this one.

Ron Paul answers:
-Why he is a republican
-What defines a libertarian
-Why the libertarian strain across both parties is a uniter.
-Defines his stance on the war on drugs from perspective of why we backed away from prohibition and alcohol.
-Addresses a cancer patient growing pot for pain for themselves being sent to prison for life...while rapists and murderers get out sooner.
-Addresses the reason he is a very sane way and yet also says he thinks it possibly should be a state or local matter not...(Normans's word) nanny government.
-Again that he would bring the troops home...immediately and states that everyone he asks in Congress who voted for the war if they still would vote for it knowing what they know now...and they all say no.

There's more...but perhaps the above will let you know if you want to listen to Ron Paul in a setting with a non-hostile interviewer.

Home run on Ed Shultz

My San Diego meetup group says:

"Ron was awesome! The host even focused on all the things he has in common with many americans' views."

Hopefully the audio will be up tomorrow. Apparently Ed is a new convert.
After I hear it, I'm writing to thank the show. This does have an impact on them.
It is like Ron is just going one niche group after another....and hitting a home run each time. By election time the dots will all connect. And, hey, if he doesn't get the nomination...he still might go Libertarian. If in the history of this country has there ever been a Write-In movement like will happen. I'm in it for the long haul.

Power of the Internet/Communication

Learned Ron Paul on the Ed Shultz Show (6/1) an email from my San Diego meetup group. Missed it, but am sure it will probably be on UTUBE tomorrow.

Note that Ed seemed a bit baffled by Ron the last time he appeared. I am going to make a prediction that Ed will have done some homework ... and the reception will be much better this time. Remember Bill Maher's dramatic turn-around from Kook to hero. Remember the initial media response to Ron and Rudy and then the turn-around in some quarters.

Folks, let's get used to it. There seems to be a delayed response to our candidate. That's okay. Adds to the suspense...creates more good articles. It's like ....huh?...followed by "he's right" or at least "he makes sense." I think this is to be expected when you are talking change. Ron has some things to say tht people have never heard on's wake-up time for many.

Do visit
Maybe if we can get a Ron Paul song listed on the front page. They have "Rotten Rudy" on it...we should get equal time...and we sure have the songs!

PS. Al Gore knocked mainstream media on PBS a few days ago and said that perhaps a candidate would get elected through the internet sometime avoiding the need for big money and compromised candidates but the time is not yet. (Wanna make a bet, Al? Time is now.)
