Guerrilla Newspaper Takeover Network - For Ron Paul
Submitted by social engineer on Fri, 01/04/2008 - 00:22Here is how I intend on translating the firestorm of support that exists online for Ron Paul into the printed press of every city in the USA:
The website will display a map of the 50 US States. Each State will display two figures. 1. Emails appearing in print 2. Direct responses appearing in print. Users will be directed to email their local newspapers with letters of support for Ron Paul. The user will then be directed to post that article + email address of that newspaper on the website for all to see, once it appears in print. Then, anyone browsing that post will be directed to write in to that newspaper to directly concur with the post, or to argue against anyone who is printed directly disagreeing. The original poster will be directed to update the post whenever either of these occur. This way, all of RPs online supporters across the nation can be organized into a national printed press consuming swarm, utilizing a simple member protocol directed from a central location.
Simplified:
Well, you go the page..you write an email to your local paper...once you see it printed then you post it on my page...then everyone can see your printed email, and they can write the same paper to agree with you, or to disagree with anyone who is printed saying you are wrong, since you check your paper and add all that to your post...
It creates a sort of buddy system that allows you to write to a remote paper as if it is local...it gives us a way to organize our online army to completely take over the papers.
The website is completely designed, and a Ron Paul supporter/computer programmer has already built three quarters of it, before he unfortunately ran out of time. Here is what is on the test server so far:

A $500 donation will allow me to hire a programmer with the right experience to complete this project. Once complete, this website is going to help our campaign in a profound way.

If you can not afford to donate, then please help by bumping this thread. Thank you very much.
UPDATE
I am working with a wonderful, able, dedicated programmer in Pakistan. Even he appreciates our revolution after I told him about it as well. Development is on track, and with a bit of luck, then this will be online within a few days.

If anyone wants to join in
This is my hometown paper

Someone posted that they support Ron Paul and someone
else posted this response...
"And to the Ron Paul supporter...he will never be president...he is a crackpot. Don't you listen to what he says? If you did you would not support him. Do you actually believe if we call all our military home we will be safer? Do you think the enemy will stop at our borders and turn away? Are you forgetting 9-11 as Ron Paul has? I am fed up with so-called politicians blaming this country for all the ills of the world as Ron Paul does. You don't have a problem with this?"
Would anyone care to respond ?
You do not have to register..just choose a ID enter the code and respond.
They review all responses before they post them so your response might take a few hours to update or the next morning.
Thank you !!!
Good idea

there are some things to think about like sabatours if you allow access to the whole world. anyway, just a thought. if you wanna get it going like this i would be glad to host and give you admin access, and keep running. can even make it
letters4liberty.evibes.us if u like
take a look and think about it.

all comment features are enabled for anonymous users. also note that you can put folders inside of folders in the states section.

just tryin to help. no i am not interested in taking on a project like this but i am willing to help. so stay in touch.
good luck..
i like your idea.

Well, in theory it's
Well, in theory it's perfectly possible to try and do the same kind of thing with a conventional forum, but trust me, the custom thing that I am making is going to work A LOT better. I know that this is a war and things seem to be getting very desperate very quick, but I promise that I'll be done soon enough. In the meantime, if you want to try and get the same kind of thing going with a conventional forum then of course feel free. I on the other hand am completely consumed with this project, so good luck.
Great Idea
BUMP!!
With you brother
Keep coming back and get the NAME going so we associate what is being done with the name of the effort.
I will do so in RI once you have it figured out...right?
We want it more than they do so our ideas are better than theirs.

Sound like you have a basic hierarchal structure. would a bulletin board system suffice? they are free. the right forum software would allow you to list the 50 states as forum topics. under the state folders you could list published articles. then under the article folders, you could post favorable replies/rebutals. you could still have your image map with the states point to these folders. and; the right sql queries will put the numbers up for you. an advantage of having a BB style backend to this is that you would already have login functions, a well recognized format, and proven software to keep up with it.
you could also create another forum containing the sample letters you speak of.
. If you can find a ron paul sympathetic programmer there; they could do the necessary mods in no time. i could do it, (except the numbers displaying on the individual states.(have to think about that one!) but it would take me longer than you would like. little rusty on my php/sql skills!
as far as seting up the bulletin board they are pretty simple, and you get a ton of admin functions. things like security, user administration, email users, etc.
Good luck with the $500. If it doesn't work out as planned, i would volunteer some of my time to help.
Good Idea. A few RP posters , the past 2-3 weeks, have helped me
by posting on sites such as Motorweek.org( a fairly big political thread is still up since December...around 50 responses, some coming out for Ron Paul, etc, who did not come from here, but are regulars for years on that site)forums, and the tv hsow has been on since 1981, iirc.... every week, showing cars and test drives, etc....on PBS....
and on another site, rareseeds.com, forums on a thread called Politics of Food(something like this). There are nearly 3,200 people signed up there, and the thread has 1,600+ replies by dozens of people(they put out 110,000 catalogs last year...and increasing.. so, literally, 100,000+ people scan the site, over the next few months, for seeds, catalogs, forums, whatever, around this time of year).
A few people from here, about 7-10 days ago, hopped on over there and posted asap; joined up.
It was great. Still up, the thread. Think it's nearing 1,800 replies.
Lots of poltical talk on the site, including some RP topics.
And detnews.com/forums(political and car talk, for example) tons of union members post there(good way to get them ot look up RP is to mention him. Get lots of replies recently. They seem upset with their Democratic leadership in MI..sicne they are in 50th out of 50 states, for unemployment...the highest, that is).
It's great.
Always get replies, on all of these sites( think the rareseeds.com has the highest replies/number of RP threads, besides here, lol..about anywhere outside of a RP fan site).
take care/not offense.
NumbersUSA has some ideas we could use
If you take a look at numbersusa.com you will see that they have pre-written emails that users can send to their local leaders. Perhaps we can have a similar setup with some draft letters and automatically include email addresses for various nearby newspapers for members. That way, a user logs on, and they can select a draft letter based on a particular issue such as immigration, economy, healthcare, etc., and then after selecting an issue, they can then select a paper and after that the email is generated with the correct email address and the user can then click send. This will also allow members to mail-bomb papers after a particular issue or injustice has come up such as numbersusa does when a particular piece of immigration legislation comes up.
Not many of us are articulate so I feel it is important that we have draft letters for people to use.
----------------
Flashmobs showing up at local news stations is a great way to get free media exposure for RP.

Well, the user will be
Well, the user will be greeted with a pretty all encompassing set of issues/demographic subsets, so that they can browse all of these different types of letters individually if they wish, and also be prompted to write in from all of these different perspectives. That is the type of inspiration/direction that I will provide, vs any sort of form letter, because then its getting too spam botty. Here's the list:
American Senior Citizens / American Men / American Women / American Children / American Military / American Police / American Farmers / American Workers / American Students / American Business Owners / Unemployed Americans / American Government Employees / African Americans / Arab, Semitic Americans / Asian Americans / European Americans / Latin Americans / Native American Americans / Native Pacific Islander Americans / Abortion / Civil Rights / Constitution / Crime / Economy / Education / Environment / Free Speech / Health Care / Immigration / Income Tax / Internet Freedom / Marriage / National Security / National Sovereignty / Prohibition / Second Amendment / Foreign Aid / Foreign Intervention / Foreign Trade / War In Iraq / War With Iran / Republicans / Former Democrats / Libertarians / Former Independents / Formerly Apolitical / Secular Americans / Religious Americans /
Also, for now users are going to have to google their own local papers email addresses, but perhaps in the future I can add some kind of directory for that.
letters4liberty
I just created my log in. I'll try to get a letter off tomorrow.
1) I just write a letter to my local paper
2) Come back to L4L and post the info that is asked for
Is that all?
Yeah, that's it, except you
Yeah, that's it, except you also have to continue keeping an eye on that paper to update your post with all direct responses, whether it may be some local person disagreeing, or if it is people writing in from anywhere in the world to back you up.
Also, the site is only like two-thirds built as of now, but I have a great programmer working on it to finish ASAP, so please donate if you can:

My suggestion--
You might want to look at having a limit on the number of people who respond to the "local" paper. If 500 people respond to my local paper, they will no that it's not locals and start to tune it out. And at the same time, another newspaper might be getting no responses. At the very least, you want a way to tally people who e-mailed in (or said they e-mailed in). It would help not only keep it from seeming like "spam", but would help pinpoint which papers need more attention.
Great idea! Free market campaigning works!

BUMP!! Great Idea
There are 6 newspapers in my area and they allow each person to submit a letter to the editor each month. I've been submitting a letter/e-m each month for the last 4 months and they are ALL printed.
This strategy has had tremendous success in raising local awareness, getting people to look for local Meetups and raising money for Ron Paul.

This is a Great Idea !
My local paper should be easy.. you don't even have to e-mail them to respond to a post nor do you have to sign up..you just create a name and submit your post.
