Ron Paul Wins Texas Straw Vote!

PRESIDENT FIRST PLACE...RON PAUL 27.9% of the vote!
Second couldn't understand him 23.8%
Third 21% Santorum
Fourth 19.4% Perry
Fifth 6.6 Huntsman

Just saw 2 RP signs on my sisters street. Both are older and very religious. Also think I've convinced my parents and grandmother. My aunt was already a supporter, and I'm guessing my 22 year old cousin too.

Sunday 1-15 CH 13 Toledo, OH reports RP in the lead with 54%

According to a Texas straw poll with over 4000 People. Not sure what this was about. The only other candidates mentioned were about Newt and Mittens attacking each other at the end of the story. I couldn't find anything on their web site, but I was surprised to hear/see this.

According to the website I went to, it was text voting only.

They had both. I asked an official how they knew the texts came from Texas and she said it was by area code. So, any transplanted Texans who had not changed their phone providers could have voted. Not terribly secure. I value the in-person votes more.

... Perry came fourth. If there's a Texan in the race, MANY Texans will vote for him on that basis alone, and if the establishment governor with full GOP support comes in almost 10% behind the congressman who the GOP try to pretend doesn't exist and has yet to campaign in Texas for the nomination ... that bodes extremely well for when the campaign turns all its attention to the Lone Star state.

Results were in Saturday evening for the Saddle Up Texas Straw Poll, with Ron Paul finishing strongly and a weak showing for the state's own governor.

Tea Party groups organized the survey to give conservative voters more of a voice in national politics.

In-person voting took place over the last few days in Houston, but anyone statewide could participate through a text option. There were 707 paper ballots counted, with Ron Paul finishing in first place with nearly 28 percent of the votes.

Ron Paul 27.9%
Newt Gingrich 23.8%
Rick Santorum 21.2%
Rick Perry 19.4%
Mitt Romney 6.6%
Jon Huntsman 1.1%

More than 3,300 people voted by text, and this time Ron Paul was the clear winner, with more than 54% support.

Ron Paul 54.4%
Rick Santorum 15.6%
Rick Perry 13.3%
Newt Gingrich 11.9%
Mitt Romney 4.2%
Jon Huntsman 0.5%

In a separate ballot for candidates seeking the soon-to-be-vacant Senate seat of Kay Bailey Hutchinson, Ted Cruz outdistanced all opponents with 48% in the straw poll and 49% in the text poll.

I voted in the text poll. IDK if that poll was restricted to just Texas area codes, but it's good to see Dr,.Paul in the lead.

Especially after that "evangelical" meeting here last night where they decided who they were going to "rally 'round."

Turns out they picked Sanitary-um.

I'd be surprised if this makes the national news. Hope it does.
