Don't compare the troops with the Pentagon leadership.

Young patriots sign up to serve. Old warmongers paint the world with blood. But don't call the young troops stupid. There is a big difference between wisdom and intellect. I have 131 IQ and served twice, the second time I became MUCH wiser and was done with it. What we need is to change the foolish rhetoric in everyday society, get rid of Neo-Cons and the military will change over time. But quit hating on volunteers.

I'm not hating on...

...the troops! I'm hating on the fact that our military is now being sold as the global military, not the U.S. military.

Sorry, Adam..

I was directing that at some of the comments.

ecorob's picture

a line from the commercial...

"they've got more courage than most"...

no, they don't

they are, mostly, lower socioeconomic levels needing a job (like me in 1983 when I joined the navy)

they are mostly young, uninformed, sold on the idea of blind patriotism (its only later that they discover their patriotism is without reason in this man's/woman's military) the allegiance seems to become evident in protecting themselves and their buddies

the constitution is a word they only utter ONE time and it will NEVER be discussed again!

and, oh yes, if you die your family gets $250k!!!

the truth is, once they get in and realize what they have done they donate what little disposable income they have, hand over fist, to Dr. Paul so he can get them OUT of this lying mess they've gotten themselves into

you want "individual liberty" and "freedom"?
you ain't gonna find it in the US military, thats for damn sure!

you're a number and a stencil on your underwear, thats is all!

I saw this commercial in 2008 Chinese Olympics

Total NWO propaganda.

Just like the liberals with Global Warming, we have the Global War on Terror. They use childish idealism to inspire murder and destruction and the economic eradication of the future at the hands of low IQ and naive 'do-gooders'.

Of all irony these young people believe they are saving the world...

Common man

[at the hands of low IQ and naive 'do-gooders'.]

I think that might be kind of harsh don't you. I think it's important to keep your eye on the people who get us into this stuff, not people who go into the military wanting to protect their country. Might I add the largest donators to Ron Paul are these people you call names. Lets stand by them in supporting the one guy that can help them and us get out of this mess.

ecorob's picture

as a point of argument, I respectfully disagree...

its harsh but its true

been there, done that...

the military is full of what you might identify as lower IQ people...don't believe me? go to army boot camp!

i'm not dissing the army, don't get me wrong...just go see for yourself...these kids are young, impressionable, and just need money to survive and this is, sadly, the only job they can find

also, they can not go to college for either monetary or knowledge issues

and yes, they are some of the most patriotic "do-gooders" in this land, God bless them!

their ideals are truly golden, in the most patriotic sense of the word...its when they get to iraq, afghanistan, pakistan, and other godforsaken places in the world when they realize what they have done but, by then, its too late!

But

I think you can think of a little better way of saying it. Come on man no reason to be mean. There are some very smart people in the service also.

sharkhearted's picture

"Low IQ and naive do gooders"????

Huh??? No, these "naive do gooders"... they all get the NWO, they know they are being cheated by Wall Street and by K Street. But they need a job, too.

And many, many, MANY of these "low IQ and naive do-gooders" are donating to and voting for Dr. Paul.

So...you should tread softly. Obviously none of you one here seem to know how to do that.

You people on this thread are just as primitive (but in a look-down-your-nose sort of way) as any childish naive do-gooders in the military.

Fortunately, YOU die-hard purists don't make up the majority of the Paul campaign. And its a good thing, because if that was the case, the campaign would be a lot, lot smaller.

We can AGREE that the M.I.C. is the enemy here...but when you start accusing the troops of partaking in that nonsense, then I get pissed.

They have a job to do...and are under orders (punishable by law) to obey those orders.

I agree

Well said, perfect.

ecorob's picture

hey sharkhearted...

i hope they meant that in a good way...not disrespectful

i have been a naive do gooder all of my life...nothing wrong with that

i usually let people get over on me...once

you know, fool me once...

i think people are actually taking up for these kids and the way they have been manipulated into joining a UN sponsored military

thats my position, i'm trying to protect them from making a mistake but i do realize that the lesser of two evils is sometimes taking your paycheck, feeding your family, and trying to move forward

thanks for listening

I think we can agree

that being under orders is not always an excuse. I also think that most of the gentlemen and women in uniform should know when the line has been crossed. I have faith in them that if that line was crossed they would have the fortitude to disobey the order.

Your referenced "line" is a gray area a mile wide

You must be a consummate 'true_believer' to "have faith" that a sailor or soldier will know when to disobey an unconstitutional order.

A case can be made that simply being ordered to go participate in an undeclared "war against terror" is an unconstitutional order.

Where would you suggest they draw their "line" starting from that point?

Totally agree- the military

Totally agree- the military is out of line.

They shouldn't be spending our money advertising to us either.

Focus on electing Ron Paul

Bashing the military is NOT the key to winning the election, which is the key to making the government follow the constitution.

Getting the 44% of the population that does not vote to show up will help Ron Paul get elected.

The fact that our armed forces are GLOBAL is not the issue. How WE as a nation choose to use our military is the core of the current election.

If WE, as a nation, let evil be done in our name then WE are guilty.

Recruiting videos are targeted for teenage minds. Get over it. Many of the people in the military take their oath seriously.

ecorob's picture

the military is a centerstone of a Dr. Paul presidency...

it simply has to be addressed as he will be bringing them all home

i don't think we can ignore this most important issue

sharkhearted's picture

I'll tell you what makes me barf...

...is the implication here by some of your remarks that the armed forces somehow think that war is playstation and fun.

Ask that to all of the vets who come back maimed, or with PTSD, or come back in a bodybag.

Look I will defend the point that these latest wars are senseless...and I will even defend all you guy's right to insult the very troops that protect you.

It is sad though because this is a waste of time. You guys need to tread softly and be more respectful of all the many, many active duty and vets on here and behind Dr. Paul's campaign.

You are not helping the process, by using elevated and derogatory terms like vomit and barf.

You could just say that this is an example of military propaganda, and we could do better and leave it at that.

But I got GOOD friends who are SEALS (ands who are supporting Dr. Paul) who are going through some serious PTSD losing teammates right and left.

Show some f-ing respect, please.

Thanks.

So sorry about your friends.

That must be very difficult for them and something I'm not familiar with. I'll bet they wished they never signed up?

Consider what they were doing though. Have any of them considered that they are fighting an illegal and unConstitutional war? Or, is following orders more important?

When was the last time a military employee thanked you for a job? Why should I thank them? And they sure as heck don't protect us. Just yesterday I saw news foottage of the US Coast Guard over near Iran. Our COAST Guard....not Iran's coast guard.

The US military has only made millions of lives worse and made us all poorer.

Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the children of God...not the warmongers.

I have never regretted my service.

I have never regretted my service, I was not an uninformed low IQ, thought I was saving the world person. I simply refused to take out loans that I could not afford, I refused to burden others with my want to better myself by going to a college that I could not afford nor my parents. I have received some of the best training a 19 year old sailor could receive.(7 years ago) I have learned to work with people from all walks of life, Now while most of my friends from high school are burdened with massive student loans and barely getting by on their 30k dollar a year job I can now finish a degree and move on with zero debt..

I used the navy as a means to get to where I am today and where I want to be tomorrow. I love the Navy and still believe that it is a great place to work and serve and will encourage anyone who asks me about it to join. as long as their priorities are right.

I am against the wars as much as anyone else here.
vets4paul.com

People from all walks of life have many reasons to join, some join to get away from family problems, some join because they need that paycheck, no one joins because they think life in the military is a game. Say what you want about recruiters but a good recruiter will nip that in the butt right away. Believe it or not there are more good recruiters than bad.

I hope those that make comments about uneducated people joining the military realize they are undermining Paul's campaign.

Take Care.

Apology REJECTED

No, they are proud that they signed up.

And they could eat you for lunch.

I REJECT your apology. You remarks are not that of a PEACEMAKER.

Rather, by your insults and remarks, you make psychological WAR on those who are called to defend this country by your remarks.

**** you! And **** your insults to the military.

But I guess this is a free country, and you can say whatever bilge you want.

Force for good?

For everyone in this thread, angry at the "barf" characterization.

Regardless of how big you think the navy should be or how much funding it should get.

It has NOT been a "force for good" for quite some time, its used just like every other branch of the armed services for some pretty terrible things.

They will defend your right to say that...

...but they (the troops) will rather vehemently disagree.

Look, I understand that the Paul crowd is diverse.

But I am warning you: Tread carefully on this issue as the US Navy (sailors) are the third biggest donor to Dr. Paul's campaign.

You are painting with a very very broad brush, and that is just as prejudiced as what the libs or the neocons do to us!!

In other words, don't bite the active duty hand that feeds this campaign...and DEFENDS you for that matter.

shark...does the average "squid"...

know why he or she does what they do?

do they actually "see" the big picture?

i submit they do not

i submit they do their jobs exceedingly well in their work stations and in their areas of operations

the admirals, however, steer them in a place the president tells them to go

i further submit that this direction ain't as clear as it used to be

Chris....

Look, the military is to be a servant of the people (which they certainly aren't now). We want them all to come home and live productive and happy lives in the private sector.

Frankly, they don't defend us. If they did they would be here in the US and not 1/2 a world a way fighting for Haliburton and Unocal.

Over 1 million Iraqis have been killed since the US invaded. 250,000 Afghanis have died since we went to "liberate" that country. No amount of excuses or exhorting someone to "you better respect"..."I am warning you"...is ever going to change the prevalent attitude of the military of arrogance and disdain for us "unwashed".

sharkhearted's picture

Well then don't disrespect their service!

Again..I am warning you...you're remarks are hurting the Paul campaign.

I AGREE that these wars are senseless...but to be quite POINTED here: I care about the losses of so many Iraqis and Afghanis. But I care more about our OWN fighting mena and women who were caught up in the M.I.C. agenda and they either come home with PTSD, maimed, or come back in pieces in a body bag.

STOP your insults to the active duty military, please. They do what they are called into service to do.

Let's rally around and fight the real enemy the MILITARY INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX.

But I separate the MIC from the troops and YOU SOULD TOO!

Are we reading the same post?

How is anything I wrote prejudiced, or offensive?

It's pretty indisputable that our military is being used as a means to some pretty unconstitutional and immoral ends.

How is that in anyway disagreeable to a Ron Paul supporter?
