Called For: "Attack"-Ad against RP's most Formidable Foe..

And at the same time, a most vulnerable foe: the MSM, or DSM (Dead Stream Media) as they're increasingly being referred to.

Hi there America! Richard here, calling from overseas Holland..

After the great ad, "Three of a Kind", I'm hoping for the R3V PAUL campaign (or the R3Vpac) to maybe consider this: a campaign-ad which confronts/mocks the lamestreamists head-on, while applauding the internet for the option to bypass these "dead-ender" gatekeepers of established opinion.

[edit]
On second thought, forget about the official campaign launching such an ad. Perhaps it's best if the R3Vpac or a group of dedicated RP supporters did the job (I have friends with creative/tech skills to do it, see the Amsterdam clip embedded in my greetings below).

Anyway, such an ad would also provide a possibility to point out the fact that growing numbers of Americans - not only the young* - are refusing the force-Fed (pun intended) MSM diet. They set off on a www-trip, in search of the good Dr Paul medicine and as they stumble upon the truth are thus increasingly drawn to the time-honoured message of Freedom and Prosperity.

I would like to see the ad really expose - not complain about - the MSM sabotage of the good Doctor's candidacy. In fact, me thinks there's even room to say "thank you", for in a paradoxical way, the lamestreamists provide the good doctor a kind service. Well kind of, in a very unkind way for sure. Plenty of footage available, I reckon ;)
And no doubt, the tone should be really upbeat, with a heady dose of humour and sarcasm, no place for anger or rage. The recent Doug Wead interviews i.m.o. set the standard in this regard. This kind of ad would be a great way to connect with an even wider audience.

"I like the idea of "exposing" the MSM vs. complaining.
Complaining gives them "power". We want to discredit and disarm them."

Second that!

* * *

Here's some further, off hand thoughts on handling the MSM, and the wider strategic implications.

The strategy of choice in tv-appearances should be to directly, yet subtly, expose whatever lamestreamist is having the good doctor on display (without being rude, no lashing out, but expose their - sometimes subtle - dishonesty).
Over here in Holland, we have had some experience with politicians being loved - and elected - by the public, just because people are fed up with the politically correct gatekeepers of established opinion.
So again, no defense, and no Mr nice guy. Quite the contrary is in order. Part of the RP answer should therefore always contain a warning that the public is not having any more of their propaganda.

Because no matter how you slice it, Dr Paul is branded "PI" anyway. What the MSM mandarins are overlooking though, is that the public loathes their lapdog lamestreamists, especially when Americans see a good man being maligned by soundb*tching pundits, long-faced media hags and smear artists. So the only thing RP needs to do, is invoke this public support when directly attacking/exposing the lamestreamist in front of him. People love that and the campaign knows the people are with the doctor. So don't turn away, let alone bow, in "respect" for the Media-Industrial complex.

Get in front of it!

(Excuse this far off rant from Holland ;), but even if we are calling from a distance, we're close to you in spirit)

Kind regs from / Amsterdam (clip) /,
Richard

R3V on!

* yet the relatively greater use of the not-msm-dead-yet internet would go far to explain the vast support the good doctor gets from the younger generation.

One more time..

Bump..

Just because I can ;)

R3V on!!

Problems I see:

1. We acknowledge the MSM's importance by placing our attack ads on the MSM.

2. We fork over tons of cash to the MSM.

3. The MSM can always decline our ads if they don't like them.

New Hampshire and Ecuador.

Thank you for your concern...

(1) It's actually not a bad thing to acknowledge the lamestreamists' importance.. and expose them.

(2) That depends on the medium used to air the kind of ad I propose. Nothing in this post to suggest that the MSM should be paid to air the thing.

(3) See second point. But yes, someone can always decline spreading the truth. That's something R3V PAUL supporters have to live with ;)

Thanks again for your contribution though. Take care,
Richard

Excellent Points Richard. Look what Happened when Newt ...

Thnx expat!

will take a look

Richard love the support.

I like your idea of "exposing" the MSM rather than "complaining" about them. Complaining gives them "power". We want to discredit and disarm them;take away their power to spew lies to the trusting public.

I like another DP'rs idea. We should contrast each MSM
lie with a truth (from RP,stats, flip flops, etc). Contrasting the lie with a picture of the truth seems to enhance the realization of the blatant lie and leaves a more lasting impression.

You nailed it!!

Edited your comment into the main post.

How about a two hour movie?

How are you going fit all of the lies, distortions, misrepresentations, omissions, slander, and degradations into one commercial?

rpjazzer's picture

Most people that aren't

Most people that aren't activists won't watch a two hour movie on media distortion unless Brad Pitt is in it -- and these are the very people that need to see it!

That's the easy part...

Just cut the BS and act economical ;)

Thnx!

bookmarked it..

Well, As For Creative Input To Your Project...

what I have in mind would be something like this:

It's late at night. The camera pans through quiet streets in a rural village, a town, and a large city. The flickering lights of televisions emanate from most of the livingroom windows of these homes and apartments. Suddenly, as if it is occurring on a nationwide scale, windows are thrown open and there is the audible sound of mass retching as person one angrily yells "I'm (sound of person one retching)", then person two from another window in a different locale yells "mad as (sound of person two retching)", person three yells "Hell (sound of person three retching)", person four yells "and I'm (sound of person four retching)", then person five yells "not going to take it anymore! (sound of person five retching)". Dissolve. Obviously a twist on the famous scene in the movie Network.

The phrase "earlier that night" appears on the screen.

Scene two opens with the inhabitants of various other abodes ensconced in their Lazyboys reading their laptops while watching various broadcast and cable news outlets on TV. One by one focus in on what stories these people are reading about the Paul campaign on the internet while switching back and forth to the slanted news accounts of these same stories the people are watching at the same time on their televisions. Jump cut from laptop screenshots to TV news screenshots and back with increasing tempo until the pace is so rapid it becomes strobelike and visibly induces a feeling of nausea in the inhabitants (and us). Literally show their faces turning green. Meanwhile as the jumpcuts escalate the music from the shower scene in Psycho is playing in the background, gently at first, then louder and louder. At the end of the scene show the various inhabitants cupping their hands over their mouths and rising from their seats. Cue the sound of windows being thrown open all over the various neighborhoods. Dissolve.

Scene three opens. A random solitary figure is seen dilatorily peddling a bicycle through one of the above neighborhoods. As above it is late at night and the lights of televisions are flickering in the windows of the houses up and down the street. The camera focuses in from behind the rider. The man on the bike is reciting something from memory. We hear only odd bits, and only the last bit is understandable. He says "We hold these...". The sound drifts away. Suddenly lights begin to come on as windows all over the neighborhood (upstairs windows too) are thrown open and the mass sound of retching and the sickening sound of vomit (not shown) raining down on the shrubbery below is heard. Upon noticing this phenomenon of mass vomitiousness the rider, again shot from behind, stops short, stands up, dismounts and reaches for something (unclear what it is) from the basket or pannier of his bicycle. Dissolve.

The final scene, a series of shots of doorbells ringing and front doors being torn open by the residents above with green faces and hands cupped over their mouths. Clearly shown in the background of each shot is a TV showing a recognizable MSM news personality delivering a biased newsstory or ignoring him during a debate, asking a loaded question, etc. Just as clearly shown is another person (not the person opening the door) vomiting, copiously vomiting, projectile vomiting all over the image of the lamestream news figure on the TV. Only then does the camera focus on the mysterious caller standing on the stoop before the front door. At first we see him from behind shot torso down. He's holding a black satchel. As the door opens up we hear his voice and he says "I'm Ron Paul. I'm here to help."

End.

And the resident says to Dr Paul..

"Dear docter.. deliver us from these lamestreamists!"

;)

Thnx for your input, nnnr!
Richard

and I think at the end one of the TVs in the background could...

show one of the palace guard from the Wizard Of Oz vomiting on Dana Bash as the Wicked Witch Of The West who would subsequently dissolve into a puddle crying "Be fair! Be fair!" instead of Margaret Hamilton's famous cry "I'm melting! I'm melting!".

And as this dissolving long-faced lamestreamist spews her last

venom.. the viewers see their television sets melt along with her. The medium that was the message.

Now the only message worth spreading has found a true medium. The message is Liberty, the messenger is Ron Paul, we are the medium!

R3V on!

Nice : > ) That Very Tidily Ties Up The Whole Package...

i.e., it is the major media themselves who have brought forth the very agents of change which are destroying the major media. But for legacy media's calculated dishonesty in supine service to TPTB, the internet would never have become the premier source of (real) news that it has become for an information-starved public, nor would have arisen such an unlikely but appealing figure as Dr. Paul to champion the message of freedom on behalf of a disenfranchised people in the political sphere. When the medium becomes the massage ('a' not 'e') the people demand a new medium.

meant to add "about Ron Paul" after "news story" in...

the second sentence of the final paragraph.

Regards Richard... from Brazil...

what a wonderful ideia...if I may suggest ...put images and dialogues from both sides ..first from the MSMand then from Dr PAul..like the ones with the MSM discussing about RP in a very shameful way and for every image and talking heads doing their lies and smears you would put images from the good Dr doing his best including that one when he was desperatly waving in a sort of comic way to the interviewer as well his kindness with the babies in his hands and other images of he is being gentle and sweet and things like that?what do you think?
regards and best luck for all of us
from Brazil with respect

Johannes in Germany

I'm an American living in Germany! There a lot of RP Fans here and in Austria!
Ron Paul is truly an International candidate!

When Fascism goes to sleep, it checks under the bed for Ron Paul!

Love to hear it!

I'm 2nd generation German here in the states.

Thank you for your input, that's what we need!

An international effort to show the American people that the R3V is supported by many outside the US.

The waving Dr Paul should definitely be included in the ad.

R3V on!

[Tip: check out / this DP thread /, it's for foreign RP supporters.]

Just watched a Fox and Friends

... (just a minute ... need to wash the throw-up out of my mouth) ...OK, Newt on Fox just insulted them too. I think he believes this will help him by going after the media ... be care full. This may backfire on him ... the media is already bias against Dr. Paul ... I don't think going after them now will help. Pointing out the non-coverage on the internet is good; doing an ad maybe not ...Dr. Paul is not a cry baby like Gingich.

Please enjoy, "RON PAUL And All That Jazz"

The whole Newt vs. The Media

The whole Newt vs. The Media thing is a sham. This is exactly like the Dems vs. the Republicans in congress. They put on a good show arguing for the people, but behind closed doors they are the best of friends. The MSM knows they can buy Newt (or they already have). I guarantee the MSM will give Newt every opportunity to go on the offensive against themselves in hopes that he wins. Newt is the candidate the media wants.

Exactly

2nd your comment! Thnx

"Dr. Paul is not a cry baby like Gingrich."

Indeed he's not.

Hence the call for an upbeat ad, taking the spirit demonstrated by Doug Wead as an example.

Not sure if I quite understand your point about the internet, since that is precisely the Ron Paul medium par excellence and one of the reasons the grassroots movement is so successful.

Thnx though for the input. Any practical/creative ideas would be welcome as well.

Time Constraints: Ad=Anecdotal Documentary=Persuasive

There is a lot of evidence of media bias out there, much of it scattered thoughout DP. The problem with trying to make the case of media bias against Paul in an advertisement is that an ad is too short to methodically and convincingly lay out all the evidence. It will be dismissed by critics in an ad of their own who will adduce counter-examples of "fair" or "neutral" coverage. No, some clever documentarian needs to take this project on at length, one who can demonstrate in context that the counter-examples the MSM and its defenders will produce were too little too late to undo the greivous damage already done to the campaign and were deployed merely as figleaves to protect the media's supposed journalistic modesty. You have to layout the timeline. You have to compare and contrast the media's coverage of Paul to that of the other candidates and demonstrate how the fortunes of their respective campaigns rose and fell depending on the tenor of the reportage.

Attacking the media worked for Newt only because they were both in on it together. It was GOP Jersey Shore. It was T-Ball. ABC set it up and sanctimonious Newt hit it right out of the park.

You're certainly right..

..given the premise of "convincingly laying out all the evidence". That position is understandable, sensible, perfectly logical and therefore not suited for the kind of ad I had in mind ;)

Your angle is eminently suited for a documentary and would indeed merit such an endeavour in it own right.

The add I envision would not be about the evidence in the first place, but about the emotion, i.e. the latent feelings of disgust among the general public about the lamestreamists. Like many have indicated, the MSM are - besides that of RP's - their own worst enemies. All the ad has to accomplish is tap into this feeling and add-in just a little positive info about the good doctor, that's all.

If you don't mind me asking, but besides your very valuable points in general, do you have any creative/constructive and above all practical ideas about what footage to use, what slogans to visualize, what music, etc?

Thnx!
