What is it about Ron Paul?

I wrote this article, "From Israel: Vote Ron Paul and Let my People Go!" on December 29th. Since then it has gone viral. A tube was just made based on the article. It was done very well, though I didn't make it myself.

You're creeping me out

OK, I agree that Ron Paul has earned a certain reasonable degree of support, but ... this? (e.g. "The reason that Ron Paul never goes down in the polls is that he’s not “convincing” people in the everyday sense ... He’s activating human souls, lighting spiritual fires one by one ... Once a soul gets activated ... there is no turning back." Um ... yeah ...

At first I just thought Rafi was losing it, but then I look at the responses, and all I see is gushing adulation. Honestly, get a grip! Dial it back a notch or two! You guys are drinking it so deep, If there's anything unhealthy in that Kool-aid, you'd better call 911!

Please be very careful here, folks...

Please be careful here, fellow Ron Paul supporters. The referenced site there is glorifying the Israeli settler movement, which for Palestinians in the West Bank (settlers call its northern part "Samaria") is tyranny, not liberty. Please see the short clip below from the West Bank. It is hard to see how a person could believe in liberty, while at the same time continuing to participate in an activity that exerts its exact opposite onto his fellow man. The Golden Rule very much applies here. Liberty is the gift from our Creator to every individual, not just for those who hold power.

Thank you Everyone.

I had no idea my video had been posted here. I'm glad that people have received it so well. Rafi's words moved me, which is why I asked him if I could make this video based on his article. I know the audio isn't perfect, but I hope my narration did Rafi's words justice. Thanks again for all who have watched and shared the video.

Keep them coming

I'm trying to figure out what type of video could quickly wake up much of the GOP that is voting for Romney. It appears that mainly GOP voters that are not very informed want to beat Obama and fix the economy. And they think Romney will do that.

However, obviously many of them don't know that Obama praised Romney for Romneycare, which was the precursor to Obamacare. I was thinking a quick video showing Obama praising Romney would hit GOP voters hard. At the end also disclosing that both of their top supporters are the same banks responsible for the economic crisis, which they both supported bailing out, like Goldman Sachs.

What do you think? Still looking at videos...

Could we find a way to air this as a national TV ad?

Six and a half minutes would cost real money but it would make a real difference if we could just get the audience to watch. It would be best, imo, to redub the audio for clarity (or, it occurs to me, it might work even better with various voices, each speaking one line -- sort of getting across that this is the message for everyone from everyone??) but the video and the words are set to go and I wouldn't change them. The reference to heroin is a little shocking and might put off a few people, but I the point which follows about freedom is one of many high points.

Could the R3volution SuperPAC afford to air this nationally? I'd chip in some thousands to make that happen but that wouldn't be enough money. Making this go viral on the internet surely would help but a large portion of the population will never see it unless it can make it to television and at a time when the viewership would be significant enough.

I really suspect this video would sort people out immediately into those who want freedom and those who want power ... including those sick souls who have been twisted to be happy only under the fist of power. I believe this video could be the epiphany to wake people up, immediately, by the tens of millions. We are engaged in a classic and epic battle of light versus dark, I really believe that. The soul and future of humanity hangs in the balance to a degree I expect it never has before. The angels, if there are angels, must be alternately enthused and distraught, wondering which we will choose.

This video really speaks to the soul of the matter.

great video *but*

Note that the author of the original article is
part of the settlement movement in the West Bank/Samaria
and while he's OK with having his people "let go"
he appears to be very uninterested in letting the
displaced Palestinians go *home*.

That said - I'm all about letting him and his neighbors
sort things out - I don't see much future in occupations/
apartheid/or ethnic cleansing, however.

Hey Blue Republic. I'm not

Hey Blue Republic. I'm not part of any movement. I live in land that belongs to me, just like you do.

The only question is, whose is it. That's all. It's my home.

Give back yours to the natives you conquered it from and we'll talk.

But in the end, as long as we're left alone, we can respect one another.

Thank you for your support, on behalf of all RP's supporters

Rafi,

Just wanted to say thank for your post and links I eventually stumbled upon here. Very interesting and informative.

And that's from a christian who's certainly not going to be any judgemental or try give you any advice on how to sort things out on your land with your neighbors over there(*)

You make sense and made a good point, anyway: "But in the end, as long as we're left alone, we can respect one another."

You're exactly right, IMO. I just wish more people would be content with simple principles like that, and just leave it there more often, these days. From anywhere. And/or on behalf of whomever.

(*)Not that I don't care, but if only because I at least know I am WAY not well informed enough for that. That'd be very intellectually dishonest from me to pretend otherwise, that's all.

Very well done! Great job!

Theeasylifeofthe allknowning butseldom doig armchairQuarterback!

Don't get me wrong, I really feel that good constructive criticism is healthy and good, but I really think that a lot of these guys on here who are always highly critical of Ron Paul's performances in these debates need to get off their duffs and hit the pavement or run for some office in order to spread the message, instead of contributing by their highly critical play by play analysis from the couch. I really think it would sober them up in a hurry, and restore a lot of the respect and admiration for a guy who did his very best last night. And by the way it was amazing!! I actually handed out super brochures all day yesterday in the cold and I talking to tons of students on the side walk(by the way most of them sincerely thanked me for doing what I was doing)at BYU-Idaho. I did this for about six hours until one friendly officer and a university security officer can and protected and served me by scaring my two dogs half to death, telling me to put my hands where he could see them, then telling me to put my bag of brochures on the wet ground(he yelled put your bag on the ground), and then put my hands on the hood of his car as he frisked me for guns and knives, and then I was treated to a Nazi style game of inquisition!! Then They threatened me if they had ever one complaint, or if I stepped foot on there private side walk again that they've have me run out of town or thrown in jail. Mind you, I'm Mormon and I served a two year mission in Finland for this church!!! The reason that I was there talking to students was because one of my friends that goes to school there was threatened with being kicked out of school if he continued in his political activism after that university cancelled all political clubs. Mind you that the school newspaper the day I got thrown on the hood of the car for nothing had a section about the candidates and the GOP race!!! What really makes me mad is that on our churches official web site it says"the lord has stressed that we aught to be concerned and involved in promoting good government." I guess just not on there property ironically enough!! But after my experience the other day and many other ones like this, I always look at the cup half full when I see anyone giving it there best to fight for the "message of liberty" and I think more of these armchair quarterbacks on this site would too if they got out into the real fray from time to time!!!

Hey there brother.

I hear ya. Just know that there ARE those awake in the church. I did notice that you said "this church". Sounds like you're distancing yourself. Hold on. Remember 1 Nephi 8, hold to the rod. Keep reading your scriptures.

Yes, there are many deceived people in the church. Look at Romney, look at Reid, look at Huntsman. Romney was a bishop and stake president. But the fact is he is deceived. We have learned by sad experience that it is the nature and disposition of almost all men, as soon as they get a little authority, as they suppose, they will immediately begin to exercise unrighteous dominion.

Think about it, the devil esp wants Mormons to be deceived and to not honor the Constitution. We have been warned by prophets about the secret combination that seeks to destroy our Liberties. We have been warned to support and uphold the Constitution. But the members are asleep, just like other Americans.

Please read these two warnings from a member of the First Presidency, J. Reuben Clark:

"Is there any one so naive as to think that things will right themselves without a fight? There has been no more fight in us than there is a bunch of sheep, and we have been much like sheep. Freedom was never brought to people on a silver platter, nor maintained with whisk brooms and lavender sprays. And do not think that the usurpations, intimidations, and impositions are being done to us through inadvertence or mistake; The whole course is deliberately planned and carried out; its purpose is to destroy the Constitution and our constitutional government; then to bring chaos, out of which the new Statism with its slavery is to arise..." [Church News PPNS pg. 327]

* * *

"The ravening wolves are amongst us, from our own membership, and they, more than any others, are clothed in sheep’s clothing because they wear the habiliments of the priesthood…we should be careful of them."

The Lord is allowing tares to grow among the wheat. You are wheat, but the tares are everywhere -- don't get bitter and turn into a tare. Mostly the tares are just blinded by the craftiness of men. You aren't blinded. You have passed the test of knowing truth about true Liberty. But now YOU are being tested by a different test. Will you stand faithful to the Lord even when others persecute you within the church?

You served a mission not for "this church", but for the Lord. The church is full of imperfect people, though most are great people. And many, if not most, are deceived by the propaganda just like the Baptists and Catholics are. Ezra Taft Benson did his best to warn the people. Mormon did too, but look what he ended up doing after the people refused to listen to him:

"And it came to pass that I utterly refused to go up against mine enemies; and I did even as the Lord had commanded me; and I did stand as an idle witness to manifest unto the world the things which I saw and heard, according to the manifestations of the Spirit which had testified of things to come." (Mormon 3:16)

And thanks for your comment, really. It touched on everything I was just thinking about today.

Thank you, Rafi.

This moved me.

It was intellectually stimulating. From the beginning I listened to the words carefully. And then as I kept hearing truth being spoken it became a very spiritual, uplifting experience.

Where the spirit of God is there is Liberty, so Liberty equals Truth because God is Truth.

Rafi, you spoke the truth.

I'll pass this along to my neo con boss, maybe this will touch her.

One question/thought: I'm not sure that there are "two types of people, those who for Freedom, and those who seek power," is more or less how you put it.

True, most men and women seek power, but even those who value Freedom of Choice and try to avoid controlling others, they may not be 100% committed IN PRACTICE to living Free and letting others live free. Does this put them in the category of power-seeking people?

These categories might be more accurate, understanding that virtually everybody has a predisposition to abuse power when given power:
1) Those who are converted by Liberty/Truth and seek to enlarge Freedom,
2) Those who are philosophically opposed to freedom. True collectivists, like the Santorums, Romney's, and Newt's.
3) Those who are in a zombie state (those under the spell of the MSM and public education), and just being tossed to and fro on the waves, without an understanding and testimony of Liberty, AND the great battle we are in here in mortality.

I think these 3 categories are more accurate than the simplistic 2 groups you divide humanity into.

Evil or grossly deceived men gravitate towards group two (like most of Congress). Those who are in Group 1 are Daily Paul readers, we are setting brush fires in the minds of men. The third group is comprised of the vast majority of mankind.

Sent to all of my neocon-warmongering-Paul hating friends

and my Mom who says I am "obsessed with Paul." Lol

She has come around though. I heard her say the other day, "That's why its so important that he's elected."

Brought tears to my soul. :)

Love you all.

Shawshank Redemption

It seems to me we should be using more images from Shawshank Redemption in our videos and arguments.

Many, many people list this movie among their Top 10 of All Time list.

It seems to me the main theme of this video (ergo Ron Paul), is the main theme of the movie. Your soul is free, and controlling others is not the answer.

Perhaps making this connection for people will help them more clearly understand our message?

I love that movie.

I've never been imprisoned (unless compulsory schooling counts), yet I'm one of those who can easily imagine being locked up; I empathize with people who've been imprisoned unjustly. Maybe that's why the NDAA gets a hair-trigger response from me.

Curiously, other people bury their heads in the sand when confronted with evidence that we are devolving into a police state; they can't imagine ever going to jail, since they don't commit crimes and believe in the justice system. Talking about the NDAA with these people triggers strong denial and antipathy; it makes them cling to their "delusive phantoms of hope" even tighter, as they reject Ron Paul and pretend we don't need him.

They pretend the NDAA will never matter, that it will only be used "for good" by prudent, moral leaders with nothing but the common good in mind. So, I'm guessing Shawshank Redemption footage will go both ways with people: positively affecting the people who see the analogy, irritating those who believe in the war/police state.

I remember when this letter first came out.

As soon as I read it I knew I had to copy and paste it into my documents. I will cherish this letter for the rest of my life. Great job Rafi You are a blessing from God and you have a beautiful soul.

WOW!

Truth!

NOSHEEPLE

One of the landmark blogs of the campaign.

Ravi's post was one of them most perceptive and inspiring blogs I have seen all campaign.

Thanks for the front page spotlight Mike.

The dots are now connected

Thank you so much, Rafi, for connecting the dots.

I knew that what I felt for Ron Paul was not idolizing the man, but his words not only encouraged me, but brought comfort to me. I knew I was an extreme fanatic, but it wasn't Ron Paul the man; it was Ron Paul's message.

I thought it was because he reminded me so much of my deceased parents, as I was brought up with the Golden Rule. I knew I was awakening my mind, but until I read your letter (posted on The Daily Caller by one of our DailyPaulers), I did not realize that his words had also awaken my soul, and I was not alone but amongst millions worldwide.

This time, we will not go back to sleep.

Again I thank you.

Thank you, Rafi.

Your eloquent words perfectly capture what's going on in our souls. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Kudos to the compelling original article and this

gem of a hymn of praise for human soul, awakened and freed by Ron Paul's call for liberty.

The cry for "Let my people go!" is universal: let all of us individuals be free from tyrannical bondages of states and ideologies of aggression!
