The charter of the Fed expires at midnight 12-31-12

Does it automatically reset? and if so, what can we do to keep it from being reset? O will still be pres even if RP wins -- will he pull a 6:00 p.m. re-upping the Fed charter like he did with the ND bill?
What happens 1-1-2013 if the Fed charter is not renewed?
What do we use for money then?
I would be interested to hear Dr. Paul's thoughts, opinion on this fact. It surprises me that he has not mentioned it. In fact, I would say its the elephant in the room that NO ONE IS TALKING ABOUT! What money do we use then?
If it is ending 12-31-12, it could explain the rush by the bankers to steal all they can before it expires.
Has anyone heard anything related to this?
It surprises me that Dr. Paul is still saying end the Fed when - hey it's going to end on its own 12-31-12.

This came up before.
The answer was that the fed was initially chartered for 20 years but the act that renewed it was perpetual - until dissolved by legislation or having charter(s) revoked for violation of law.
So congress has to act to make it go away.
(Note that I'm paraphrasing the poster in the previous thread. I didn't research this myself.)
(Think: What would it mean for the Fed charter to just expire with no transition to something else legislated - even if it's gold coins: All the Federal Reserve Notes suddenly become just paper? All your dollar-denominated assets and accounts {including government bonds} become worthless? The government trying to pay its bills in gold and silver from its too-small stockpiles? Can you imagine that being allowed to happen?)

It will get renewed without any vote by Congress or any attention from the media. Obama will probably just sign an executive order to renew the charter, if the Fed even feels like consulting him.
