The BEST proof to tell people Ron Paul IS winning and is TOP TIER.
Submitted by informant on Fri, 01/04/2008 - 09:14When people you are trying to inform or tell about Ron Paul for President 2008, mention his low placings in the "polls" or "phone surveys" etc. or just in general when talking about RP's success so far, go to his home page, www.RonPaul2008.com, go under the LEARN section of the drop down menu, and PRINT out dozens of copies of his STRAW POLL RESULTS page...
It lists 52 straw polls conducted in the past year, these are mostly accurate and a nice cross range of the countries voting tendencies for this election...
RON PAUL HAS WON 1st PLACE IN 26 OF THESE STRAW POLLS!!!!!!!!!! THIS IS HUGE!
RON PAUL also HAS PLACED TOP 3 IN 16 OF THESE STRAW POLLS!!!!!!!!!!
Use this PROOF to our advantage... the trend of 52 straw polls, which is HIGHLY favorable for Ron Pauls viability and likeability for WINNING President is HUGE!!!!!

Proof he's tops in NH
First, to the naysayers, consider that a new poll shows Paul at 14% in NH, a solid 3rd place. Combined with the $20M I'd say that makes him top tier.
Second, please consider that this is a poll taken on landlines among regular GOP voters -- it totally discounts the first time registrants, or those who switched, or those who are registered independents.
So this 14% is just the base.
Last night's party, according to Linda of "he's a medical doctor, so he knows about the health care mess" fame (giggle) had about 50 people and she thinks we got new voters there. There was another party this morning, and will be one on Monday night that should be great, mostly Christian community voters.
Anyway, with 14% in NH, and all that money, there was NO reason to exclude him from that FOX event.

but try and channel that energy to get RP elected, instead of infighting. Please, we need to stand together. People will disagree - thats fine. Remember that we all have ONLY 1 GOAL. Get RP elected as president in 08

Straw Polls Don't Matter
You're going to find that most people realize that straw polls are meaningless. Now that the real voting has begun no one pays any attention to straw polls. The scientific polls (telephone polls) showed RP at about 9% in Iowa. So they were within their margin of error. In NH they show RP running 5th around 8% (I think). Maybe, he do better in Wyoming and can use that result to help him in NH. Its a long shot, but its the best shot he's got.
Yes, they're not scientific
And I'm glad more Paul supporters are learning that. I have been arguing all along that straw polls are not reliable and have been blasted for it. They're fundamentally flawed, because what you're polling is simply people who like to go to straw polls. Paul supporters love to search for and go to straw polls more than the supporter of any other candidates. That's all it these polls tell you. You're not polling a representative sample. But, I agree that it's a good publicity tool for Paul.
So I warn Paul supporters not to get too comfortable by these straw polls, because it reduces the incentive to campaign. Straw polls, and internet polls don't mean Paul is winning. Paul is not winning unless he gets much higher in the scientific polls. Scientific polls are called scientific for a reason. We saw in Iowa that scientific polls are pretty reliable.
Agreed!!! We need Wyoming!
Currently, the only two republican candidates who have touched Wyoming are Dr. Paul and Romney. Dr. Paul recv'd a 1st place in the Laramie Country GOP Straw poll in Cheyenne with 48% of the vote. Dr. Paul is leading an online poll in the Jackson Hole Paper. Every state is important and Wyoming should be no exception. A strong finish in Wyoming for Dr. Paul will provide him better traction for NH on tuesday!
What I was implying was that
What I was implying was that we didn't even do well in the straw polls in Iowa. Iowa was a tough state for us and New Hampshire is much more pro-Paul...just look at the donor maps on ronpaulgraphs.com. I'm not saying that we will get the 65%+ that the NH straw polls would predict but the fact that we won among independents last night is huge in Iowa where they are the largest voting block in the state.
After RP's poor showing and
After RP's poor showing and Obama's win in Iowa many(most) of those independents will be voting to have their vote count and vote Obama. The best predictor on what's going to happen in NH is the telephone polls. Sadly, they're not looking good for Paul.
Actually Ron Paul had a great showing
Ron Paul had what I consider a great showing, the slight difference in percentage between 3rd and 5th is insignificant and is showing Ron Paul's continutation of increasing his voter base. I tried to tell people yesterday that Iowa is not that important in the scheme of things and knew he would not do better than 12%. I am not sure where anyone thought he could beat Romney who spent Millions in Iowa and Huckabee who was the media darling for the month of December and had millions in free advertsing. Its really no shocker - it was expected. Romney and Huckabee won the Iowa Straw Poll.
I have been saying all along that Paul's strength is in NH and beyond where Huckabee and Romney have not been campaigning.
IA is not a friendly state to Dr. Paul
Loads of farm subsidies, Neocons, and "war Mongers".
I have been working on my brother-in-law for 2 months because his parents live in IA. They are stauch Republicans and will "never vote for RP". They are pig farmers and get a lot of benefits from subsidies. Additionally, they pretty much get all their news from Fox news and just don't understand what is at stake.
The irony is that these are the people who would actually benefit most from true liberty. Being able to keep the fruits of their labors and not have the intense Federal involvment in their product. Free trade with other nations would increase the value of their pork.. Too bad..
K
Spread this around!
These are straw poll results, not internet polls. They are as accurate as they come, and he was predicted at a low 9% in Iowa. NH he is predicted VERY well, and people need to see that he he did better than expected in IA, and that the straw poll is by far the most accurate pre-polling there is out there.
Check out the google map of straw poll results. This is awesome

Investigate Zoo Hypothesis
Wow!
In the Iowa straw poll Ron Paul did awful at about 9%. He got 10% in Iowa. But wait look at the three New Hampshire straw polls. Ron Paul got 65%, 65% and 72%!!!! All of these polls were taken within a month before or after the Iowa poll. The Iowa straw polls were pretty darn accurate does that mean that we're going to do very well in New Hampshire?!?!
The Straw Poll Theory will be tested out in New Hampshire...
... because below is the big Iowa Straw Poll results and it pretty much predicted the caucus results for Dr. Paul.
Ames, Iowa 8/11/2007 5 9.1%
The good news is, if the Straw Polls are a good indicator of how the primary election will go, Dr. Paul is going to shock everyone in New Hampshire. We'll shall see.
"These are the times that try men's souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman." -Thomas Paine
Get real
We see from Iowa that the polls are more or less correct.
To deny that Dr. Paul currently has only about 7 - 10 % nationally is foolish and trying to convince some undecided or apathetic voter that he is winning is just plain stupid.
We need to convince people that the message is worth investing in, not that he is actually winning.
We need to convince people that the movement is not made up of a bunch of loonies or racists.
Couldnt agree more
The first step to moving forward is to understand where you stand. We HAVE to use the national pools as a base line - there is NO OTHER MEASURE we can use.
If we indeed have more support, great, thats icing on the cake. If we dont, we started off with a realistic expectation of how much work is ahead.
Its about being realistic, not pessimistic.
there is truth here
We must get the message out to likely voters. The sheeple will simply pick "who they like" come primary day (if they even vote at all). We are the most informed voters and campaigners--it is up to us to clearly and effectively articulate Ron Paul and his message and not rely on the official campaign or someone else to do it. The time is short; we must act NOW!
We can't wait for the official campaign to do better, or for Ron to become more articulate. Boots on the ground is what's going to win this election for him.
I personally see the big weakness as the inability or unwillingness to effectively articulate his dedication to defeating terrorism. He focuses too much on preaching "get out of Iraq" instead of "fight terrorism effectively". This is where he almost lost me, and I spend a lot of time and effort trying to explain to others "what he really means". The campaign needs to address this and promote Ron as "Strong on Defeating Terrorism". Perhaps a commercial?
But I'm not holding my breath for this, so we need to keep working hard!

I think it was little too late for Iowa, but New Hampshire got them on 1/3.
Also, watch this video. This video says nothing about Ron Paul or any other candidates, so it should be totally outside of FEC rules, yet it is a very powerful tool to support Ron Paul, in my opinion.

Are you nuts?
What is your deal... I KNOW what's going on, what the score is, and what is important about RP and this race...
What I also KNOW, that you DON'T, is how the majority of Americans see things and what it takes to open their eyes, especially when most vote on the herd mentality. Most don't know what's good for them, especially when it comes to politics. The message SHOULD be enough, but get real. Since RP DOES have such good straw poll results, and there have been FIFTY TWO (52) of them conducted in all the states, USE THAT SUCCESS that RP has had and shove it into their consciousness that RP is actually WINNING THE STRAW POLLS, WINNING THE ONLINE POLLS, WINNING THE DEBATE POLLS, etc...
IronMan77, you're probably a Jay Cutler fan, eh? If so, I'm sorry for you.
Ha, You sound like a statist
when you say "Most don't know what's good for them, especially when it comes to politics."
A real free marketeer, you are.
Check out the actual numbers at these straw polls, not the percentages. compare that to the number at Iowa straw poll. Then remember that the Old media fraternity will be no help to us at all - if crowing about the straw polls before Iowa didn't help, it won't after.
About the most you can say is that Ron Paul supporters are not apathetic.
Next you'll start blaming the bilderbergs and Rockefellers again - and that, my friend is why RP 's message is dismissed by so many people.
For god sakes, check the number of negatives he had in Iowa - where do you thimk they came from ?
I have reality on my side... READ the Truth of most Americans...
Have you ever watched Jay Leno's "Jay Walking" when he's on the streets in California and various other attempts to quiry or take the pulse of the average "Joe/Jane American" on the street to see... THis may look like propoganda or like they are picking people off the streets to play dumb, but be assured these people aren't acting, they are REAL...
Alex Jones speaks of the same median intelligence level of the average soccer mom or Joe six-pack American who can't answer basic political questions, can't accurately point out Australia on a map, some don't know who the Vice President is, San Diego State Univ. students in a random campus poll couldn't accurately answer in which year 9/11 happened (this is no joke), many don't know how many members there are in the Senate and how many for the House, most couldn't tell you what fiat currency is, most don't know what the Federal Reserve IS, DOES, or that it's not a part of the American govt, most Americans don't know that the united States is a Republic and not a Democracy, also for the past few years there is a study done of Ivy League universities (Harvard, Yale, Columbia, Stanford, etc) by Intercollegiate Studies Institute, MUST READ Summary page -

UPI - U.S. college students fail civics test
WASHINGTON, Sept. 18 (UPI) -- Harvard, even though it scored the highest, was among elite U.S. colleges where students proved dismal in their knowledge of civics and history, a report said.
The non-profit Intercollegiate Studies Institute analyzed scores of a test given to 14,419 freshmen and seniors at 50 U.S. colleges last fall, USA Today reported Tuesday.
Overall, the freshmen tested averaged 50.4 percent on a civic literacy test, while the seniors tested averaged 54.2 percent.
Seniors tested at Harvard had the highest overall average at 69.6 percent, nearly 6 points higher than its freshmen but still a D-plus, said the ISI report.
A Harvard senior was the only student among the 14,419 tested to get 100 percent correct.
Yale had the highest scoring freshman at 68.94 percent with freshmen at Princeton, Duke and Cornell also out scoring seniors who took the test, the report said.
William Galston, a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution, told USA Today students have fewer civics requirements because the value of higher education more often is defined by knowledge of economics.

SO, now that I have proved my case with just a bit of research and information that points out the dire circumstances of the oblviousness of most uninformed or disinformed Americans, willfully or unwillfully ignorant.... this is why, despite themselves, we MUST push the point home and make people understand why Ron Paul is the BEST HOPE, and use their own herd mentality logic and straw poll stats, for instance, to convince them..... etc etc
And the results above with teens, twenty somethings, and generally 30ish group who have education and school work and facts fresh in their minds (or at least should be) and they score this poorly and are not knowledgeable, imagine the older adults in America who have been further away from active education or learning... they probably know/remember even less, and are probably more trusting of their govt than the younger generation....
Re: the lack of Civics knowledge
What, I think, is even worse than the lack of knowledge is the utter lack of interest. I am 43 years old and for the most part do not hang around stupid people. If it wasn't for me, the people in my immediate surroundings would know nothing of RP, or even that the Primaries and Caucuses have started, much less the difference between them. I don't even bother going into monetary policy and economics because I just get dazed looks - this after using only layman's terms. I don't consider that I am any more intelligent than the others, but perhaps I am. I am at least at a greater level of interest and concern over our future, both immediate and long term.
Here's to stopping the dumbing down of America and to the return of Civics classes to the American High Schools. Our Civics class was very difficult and hated by most, but we all walked away with the knowledge of how the American Government operates.
Now that's how you form an argument!!!!
Awesome! Still, this does not constitute what "most americans" believe or think. It's the equivalent of saying that Ron Paul will get 10% of the national vote because Iowans said so. Know what I mean? I'm splitting hairs however and you're rebuttal is awesome. Is everyone else paying attention here? This post, in my opinion, is how you make an argument! Awesome informant! Your screen name is obviously a true representation of the person. Thank you for the facts. I now understand what you were trying to say. Great stuff. Really great stuff!

Easy now. Let's criticize with facts...
...not name calling. Do you honestly know "how the majority of Americans see things"? Have you asked the majority of Americans what they think and how they perceive "things"? I think not. You said, "Most don't know what's good for them,...". I guess you do? Maybe the government knows best. Maybe Huckleberry knows best. You're starting to sound like "them". If people do not know, then we, as supporters, have not done our job. Our job is to educate people and allow them the opportunity to see the truth. Not tell them what we say is the truth. If one has heard the facts and still does not see the truth, then we do not want them in our camp. Sam adams said it best in my opinion. I'm paraphrasing, but Sam Adams said let these people leave us and may posterity forget that they were our countrymen. The people who voted for Huckabee, Romney, etc. are ignorant people, and not solely because they voted for these few plagues over the cure. They lead ignorant lives and will bear ignorant fruits for their ignorant labors. I'm not name calling, but rather pointing out fact. I won't get into religion, but you can do the math. The idea of the straw polls is a good one, but has a ring of "look what we did last year" to it. What are we doing now? That's the important thing. Folks, we have to intensify our efforts. If one is not in a meetup group of some kind, then, In my opinion, one is not a supporter. If one is in a meetup group, and the group seems to do little more than meet for sandwiches every other week, then one needs to take charge of that group. It doesn't matter who the organizer is...the organizer is the person(s) that organize. More than likely there are groups in ones area that share Dr.Paul's ideas, but do not know anything about Dr.Paul. This is the case in my state. We have contacted many groups and have many beneficial relationships because we contacted these groups. Has anyone contacted these groups in ones state or area? The reason the web is so powerful is because it allows us to organize. Have we organized? Yes, but not enough. In my opinion, we must change our lives in order to enact change. We cannot lead our lives as we have been. Saturday should not be sit-around-day. Organize folks. Please. Organize.

That is a great suggestion. I wil do that. Also, please read the thread I recently posted "What we got was a Magic Show". It is VERY important to bring to light that there were "obstructions" to the caucus procedure in Iowa. We have to make sure that the people of New Hampshire DEMAND TRANSPARENCY to hopefully avoid another "magic show".
Might I add...
Might I add that in the big Ames, Iowa straw poll, back in August, Ron Paul came in 5th with 9.1% of the vote! So, as of yet, his results are not inconsistent with the straw polls. Maybe Iowa just was't our state.
