Ron Paul spot on about Apple Question
Submitted by Straight Sativa on Thu, 01/19/2012 - 23:44When asked in tonite's debate about if it was a good or bad thing that so many of Apple Computer's jobs are located in China, Ron Paul eluded to the truth without even knowing the facts.
The moderator said that "over 500,000 of Apple's jobs are located in China, whereas there are only about 40,000 U.S. employees for Apple, most of which are desk jobs/non-technical."
In his answer, Ron said "we should investigate the reasons why so many of these jobs are being sent to China."
The fact is that the new generation of faster, more efficient processor chips are being manufactured in China for extremely low costs. Theses chips can potentially be put into any devices ranging from digital watches to advanced military weaponry. The old standard of chips made in the United States is slowly but surely being replaced by the new Chinese chip and will soon become the new standard for electronic devices worldwide.
Obviously it is a bad thing that these jobs are all in China, but it is because they are the new hub of emerging technology, and it doesn't help that their engineers can be employed for ten cents on a dollar.
A quote from the article about the chip:
"The massive projects focus on specific technology areas that China reckons are key for its technological independence and economic future, including processors and operating systems, chip process technology, 4G wireless networks, nuclear fission power plants, water pollution control and treatment, aircraft design and construction, high-resolution satellite imaging, and manned spaceflight and lunar exploration."
