Stephen Colbert Comes Out for Ron Paul

..... asked by Mika Brezenski on MSNBC's Morning Joe about who he likes, Colbert being funny initially says "Herman Cain" .... Mika then presses him asking who he likes that is still running and Colbert replies:

"Ron Paul"

http://youtu.be/43hlXKg5FOo

...... utterly stunned, uncomfortable silence by the talking retard brigade .... no one knows what to say ....

Colbert proceeds to recover the pregnant pause by extolling Dr. Paul's consistency and virtues ....

Give the C man some DP love ....

Rumplestilsken (sp?)

It is a reference to the old tale... I guess they find it a funny tie in to gold... RP...

It's an allusion to Rumplestilskin -

the connection is gold.

I don't know...

I'm never sure what to take away from comments from Colbert and Stewart because they always preface their remarks with some sort of comedic quip, and to say that Ron Paul is consistent is not that big of a news flash -- even his detractors give him credit for that. I guess I was just hoping for something more from this guy. But hopefully this will translate into more votes for Ron, who did an amazing job last night. Super proud of him and the "revolution!"

Priceless!

"If you guess Ron Paul's name, you have to spin straw into gold" I don't care who you are, that's funny!

Thanks for sharing, oneof5!

As a side note - and I am not a member of the PC police, I promise - but can we refrain from using the "R" word? Having a child who is developmentally disabled, I can tell you in all honesty that he is smarter and has more common sense than the majority of the MSM clowns, so calling them "retards" is an insult to my son's intellectual integrity. Thanks! :)

Holy crap

The 'R' word? Really? I have a special needs child, and what I teach him is, words are words, be measured by your deeds, and remember, a word will never cut your skin, nor break your bones.

I get that you find it offensive, but I get sick of people making a fuss over words like they fly out of blow guns and hit people in the neck.

Someday everyone will be so worried about which words offend whom, that we'll all be sending blank emails to one another and just guessing.

Sorry to vent on you, sorry if you are offended, but I constantly have to remind my son of this concept because all the adults that 'educate' him keep trying to plant this idea that words hurt people into his head.

He has enough problems without working himself up over sounds people are making

'Live for yourself, there's no one else more worth living for,
Begging hands and bleeding hearts
Will only cry out for more...'

viper

by name and by nature comes to mind.
not gonna kill any of us to do our fellow Ron Paul fan a turn and not use the "r" word.

The words 'kiss my a$$'

Come to mine. You don't know me or my family. There was actual content in my post, not name-calling like you just stooped to out of the blue.

If it involves a taboo word, ity's like people just shut their damn brains off and act like sanctimonious fools.

Try having a kid who takes verbal harassment all day and then tell me what YOU would teach him

'Live for yourself, there's no one else more worth living for,
Begging hands and bleeding hearts
Will only cry out for more...'

what's good for the goose...

my my my, how easy you got offended! weren't you the one that said words didn't hurt!!! you come on here and tell people they shouldn't be offended by words...and then you get offended. what's that saying...do as i say not as i do!

my, my, my

one of us was being smarmy and insulting, and one of us wasn't!

Gimme a break, dude

'Live for yourself, there's no one else more worth living for,
Begging hands and bleeding hearts
Will only cry out for more...'

And I'll note as well

that I never used the word. I only took the time to impart a lesson that took very hard, very sad learning.

'Live for yourself, there's no one else more worth living for,
Begging hands and bleeding hearts
Will only cry out for more...'

lpviper

I'm so sorry that your son has to go through that. My heart breaks for him. He sounds very brave and you are setting a wonderful example for him!

It was never my intention to reprimand. I was not so much offended by the use of the word in the post as much as I saw it as an opportunity to bring some understanding and education. And on the matter of how the pejorative use of a term that describes a person's state in life might - over time - lower them in the eyes of society, I think we might both agree that bringing some understanding to others, in as diplomatic a way as possible, is beneficial for everyone. :)

Agreed

Thank you for being so civil. Someday I will master that skill myself, lol

'Live for yourself, there's no one else more worth living for,
Begging hands and bleeding hearts
Will only cry out for more...'

They aggressively profile all of the candidates

some with truths, some with half truths and most with straight up lies, day in and out for 6 months, then laugh that a comedian gets better favorability in a poll? That's pretty crappy.

That said, Colbert breaking character like that, is quite an endorsement for RP. And the fact that his whole shtick is a parody of news people, is a real slap in the face. He's insulting them, and they deserve it, and they're laughing too hard, so they're still the real butt of the joke.

This is my first time seeing

This is my first time seeing him break character. I'm sure it happens more often than not but I've yet to see it. That was a really, really nice thing to hear. Thank you Steven.

The only other time

that I saw him break character was on the View when they asked him about his mother.

"It does not take a majority to prevail but rather an irate, tireless minority keen on setting brushfires of freedom in the minds of men."

Ok, now say it on your show

How much of his audience watches MSNBC? I'd love it if he would give a little love to the Doctor on his show.

It doesn't matter, fans will

It doesn't matter, fans will probably hear about on twitter, etc...

Stephen Colbert's audience?

I'm betting a lot of them watch MSNBC...

I had my doubts about Colbert, but

after this conversation, I have a lot more respect and support for this guy! Got to see him out of character for a couple seconds.

Let's Give Colbert the Ron Paul Bump!

Amazon book reviews and emails to his producers!

Here's a rare thing

I don't like about the Ron Paul R3volution. You've turned Amazon book reviews into a political battlefield.

Who is 'you'?

Groupthink is so easy....

'Live for yourself, there's no one else more worth living for,
Begging hands and bleeding hearts
Will only cry out for more...'

He doesn't change with the wind...

Silence. Yeah, that's true but because we do, lets change the subject. You might get people thinking.

Sort of like saying SHUT UP

Sort of like saying SHUT UP SLAVES!

"When the people fear the government, there is tyranny. When the government fears the people, there is liberty."

I really dont give a shit

what any of them have to say. These are the kind of people that picked on the slow kids at school - cowards - followers - not a one real man amongst them. I bet everyone of those clowns on stage date raped a girl in college - they are "those" kind of guys. They are all just cracking themselves up. To be honest it reminds me of being in my 20's at a bar - when you are in the drunk crowd partying up - it seems to you like it is the greatest thing in the world. Then when you are the sober one - you realize just how stupid they all are. The media is the drunk crowd right now. Whooping it up - taking another shot of socialist whiskey and Paul Bashing Lager. Time for America to sober up and see them for what they are. I mean come on - THEY ARE MAKING A MOCKERY OF THE ENTIRE SYSTEM! If this was on MTV or something - it might be funny - but this is supposed to be real news. Mika better be careful - I heard her say Colbert was right - she will probably be summarily harassed by the neanderthals after the show. I will give Colbert props when he stands up like a man and calls out these people for the liars and manipulators they are - without a punchline.

LOL... man I'm going to have to thumbs down your post.

Only because I'm thumbs upping the thread and... that is something a little to strong for public. Nothing personal though, I got a kick out of most of it.

You are probably right

But I am more worked up than usual about the bias this morning - maybe it is all the Newt love - I mean come on - the guy is as sleazy as they come. I know a lot on here are the "peaceful" protest works best type - but I really just want to punch the two guys on the ends in their faces. That used to be a very affective tool against people who tell lies about you or your family - and I consider Dr. Paul family.

No, he's not right!

I'd give you 10 thumbs up to counterbalance his one thumbs down if I could. Your post was brilliant and funny.
If we start with all the "political correctness" here, then we are betraying all that we stand for.
Don't you dare apologize and back down. Don't do it. There is nothing "wrong" with feeling angry. It is a NORMAL, adult reaction to immoral, cheating, childlike behavior. Don't be made to feel that you need to apologize for an honest feeling.

Be careful what you ask MSNBC!

I'm surprised they even asked Colbert, he always speaks up for Ron Paul. He did get in a great soundbite: He's intellectually consistent, doesn't change with the wind!
