"The GOP would start out ahead with any of its other potential nominees: Romney and Santorum lead Obama by identical 7 point margins at 49-42, and Paul has a 6 point advantage at 46-40. Democrats' dream of turning Texas to the blue column doesn't seem likely to come true this year unless they get the gift of running against Gingrich."
Gingrich just isn't electable.

Wow. Just Wow.
Dear Newt, enjoy your ego trip in SC, but you're done my friend, and you just might take the Republicans down with you.
North of SA here... My town
North of SA here...
My town will support an establishment type, whether Romney (probably not), Newt (likely), or Santorum (maybe), but definitely not Paul. The county, on the other hand, might support Paul - usually a battle at the county conventions between the urban (town) and rural areas.
The GOP here in town is dominated by a few people with a lot of money and power, and free time to volunteer, campaign, etc. And they think Ron Paul is a ... well, you know what they think. Ron Paul supporters are usually demeaned and looked down on, and run out of town on a rail. I've seen supporters leave halfway through a county convention.
I usually am very vocal about liberty and freedom, but keep my Ron Paul association on the down low. For those of us who do support him, we can easily identify and pick out each other, though...and we are slowly gaining some ground.
Houston here.
Have to agree with North Dallas.

North Dallas here, I have
North Dallas here, I have heard a few mention Newt. It makes me wince but I can't appear disgusted. RP would carry Texas, if not for the fact that we all absolutely love our Texans.
