VOTE UP! Can we count our own votes?

Vote this post up if you think we should set up tables at each precinct for Ron Paul voters to sign up after submitting their ballot.

We do not need to count the other candidates votes,

We do not even need to count all of Ron Paul's votes if it isnt possible.

All we have to do is prevent our precincts from underreporting the count, and this effort will expose them.

The campaign should endorse this strategy and we will network it ourselves... but the campaign can spread the message

My Error! I spread this

My Error!
I spread this thinking I was leading various private efforts to an official site. Sorry for my ignorance! Apparently Nevada HQ is not asking for vote tallies.

All RP voters should be encouraged to vote twice

Once at the poll and secondly with the RP organization. The second vote could be online or on a hardcopy form. Name, phone number (or contact info), signature ( to certify against fraud or perjury) is all thats needed. That way we could followup if there is suspected fraud. No need for SS info.

Make it easy for RP voters to register. They could vote either before, during or after the voting booth. Make it easy to participate.

This is all for our benefit in case we have to legally fight to make sure our vote counts. It's purely for our records and liberty.

A vote for the lesser of two evils is still a vote for evil.
A vote for liberty is always a vote for liberty.
I will vote for Ron Paul as either the nominee or as a write in.

What good does a signature do?

I can write out "I am an alien from the planet Luapnor" and sign my name, and I haven't committed perjury. (I'm not from the planet Luapnor, by the way.)

I don't see how these proposals would collect evidence that would be admissible in court. People who "like Ron Paul" but are lured by fearmongering to vote for one of the fearmongers might say they voted for Ron Paul out of shame (other exit polls have had this kind of error before, where people didn't want to admit who they really voted for). Supporters of other candidates could sign just to mess with you, and to give the media an excuse to dismiss the totals as unreliable.

As far as I can see the only way to count the votes is to get involved in the official process. Volunteer to work in the polling places. Take periodic photos of vote counters on the machines (at least one before the polls open, and one after they close). Check the rosters to see how many people signed in. Document any irregularities.

Longer term, find out where decisions are made about vote counting procedures in your area. Lost in all the complaints about machine voting in NH was the Secretary of State's explanation that each locality gets to define how they will count the votes in their town meetings, and hand counting is an option ... IF that's what the town meeting decides. Other states probably do similar things.

If there is going to be some kind of web site collecting information on how people claim to have voted, it needs to be an official site created by (or at least officially endorsed by) the campaign. Look at what happened today with a "request from Nevada HQ" page that looks like it's probably a scam. Even just having a lot of competing sites would nullify any likely benefits.

A Voter Verification Signature here would be the same as

a Voter Registration Signature. Newt was denied access to the VA ballot because he didn't have enough verified signatures on the registration forms. A signature carries slightly more weight than no signature (ie. what good is a list of 30,000 names with no signatures?).

In the sequence of a process like this
1. Identify RP voters for later testimony if needed (with contact info)
2. A list of verified Voters would give grounds for moving forward and
3. Follow with legal action if appropriate

A vote for the lesser of two evils is still a vote for evil.
A vote for liberty is always a vote for liberty.
I will vote for Ron Paul as either the nominee or as a write in.

They're not the same at all

Giving false information on a voter registration form carries penalties defined by law. ("To knowingly give false information on any voter registration document is a felony under Virginia law. The punishment is a maximum fine of $2500 and/or confinement for up to ten years. Also, you lose your right to vote.")

If you ask someone to sign something, and it's not a legal contract, I don't think any laws are being broken if they actually voted for Newt, but they sign something saying they voted for Ron Paul. (And again, exit polls have had exactly this kind of error in the past.)

The campaign in Nevada has a list of over 20,000 names of "identified voters" who pledged to show up and vote for Ron Paul. A small faction of that number actually showed up as votes in the certified results. If there was widespread fraud (as opposed to RP supporters not bothering to show up) then the campaign has enough information to prove it. They can contact people on that list, especially in the precincts with the largest discrepancy from expected turnout, and start putting together concrete evidence of votes that were not counted, in the form of sworn affidavits from Ron Paul voters. At that point the signature WOULD have legal consequences.

So, first, non-binding signatures aren't needed or helpful.

Second, identifying Ron Paul voters in conjunction with the GOTV effort kills two birds with one stone, so it multiplies the effectiveness of the effort. In Nevada it resulted in more than enough people to contact to prove widespread vote fraud, if that fraud occurred.

But third, the campaign has this information and is apparently not pursuing it. What does that tell you?

Anything come about with this idea??

Maybe there could be a website people register with after voting? I dunno...

We just need to do SOMETHING!

Whether you vote for Doctor Paul of not, voter fraud hurts our country in so many ways

A man who has hate in his heart is not a free man

YES!! PEOPLE ARE SELF COUNTING IN NEVADA!!

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT!

Going to a precinct where the demographics are mostly old people will increase your chance of getting your vote counted.

This measure will also help spark accountability measures from the response of old people to the rush of young votes.

Bush, when going up against Gore, the GOP targeted specific demographics and thwarted the numbers at those precincts...

we should do it at least for the hope of a different result

The role of a farmer, in Fukuoka's mind, is an observer, not an intervener, of the natural order in his/her particular landscape. How is that any different than Hayek in regards to Economics?

I agree since the GOP IS AFRAID TO COUNT OUR VOTS

We need to count them ourselves. And we need to make it easy pot people to be counted. And whatever system or systems we make availible should make it possible and easy for making legal claims .

This will only help us in the long run and especialy since computerized. Punting is becoming the norm. Voting computers are just as easy to rig as computerized slot machines.

If we don't protect our votes who else will?

A vote for the lesser of two evils is still a vote for evil.
A vote for liberty is always a vote for liberty.
I will vote for Ron Paul as either the nominee or as a write in.

Can we count? THis Movement is about Liberty COUNT IT!

I'm Grouping and adding ideas I've seen here.

Dress authoritatively, Look like you are supposed to be there because you are. Ron Paul Supporters definitely want their votes to be made sure and counted. We detest vote fraud chicanery. We have it in the back of our minds and we see how he is treated. We won't mind especially with all the thinking that went into making the choice in this election to go for someone such as Paul. So I'm Sure we will have plenty of support. Have a Suit and Tie. And have someone hold Ron Paul "Count the vote" signs. Take pictures and collect signatures and evidence of the vote. You can even Show your results on the dailypaul!

If you are hampered from this practice, If you feel you can create a stir and interfere with the psychology of the local hack. whatever you do, make sure they know we are watching and pay attention to see what happens.

Think of it like a voting booth battlefield. We are supporting the troops, and you are in no immediate danger, we have it easy.

Post Your videos on Youtube.com So that the next states locals can imitate or improve on your mistakes. You never know., You could be the reason this whole thing gets turned around...

How is this supposed to work in practice?

When we used to go to a polling place to vote, at peak hours the lines were long and the sidewalks outside were sometimes packed with people coming and going. And when people were leaving they were often in a big hurry to get to work in the morning, or to get home for dinner in the evening.

(1) It would be hard to count the people on video tape. They don't go through single file, there are people coming and going at the same time, people who turn around and go back because they see someone from the neighborhood they want to chat with in line, etc. If you've got a video tape of that swirling crowd at the peak times, how do you get an accurate count of voters?

(2) What percentage of people do you expect to get to videotape their vote on a cell phone? Or give up enough personal identification info (and time) that they could be tracked down later if necessary? Counting only helps if you can get more people able to PROVE they voted for Ron Paul than the number of votes reported for Ron Paul.

At our polling place there was always a need for volunteers. Volunteers wouldn't be able to videotape people voting, of course, but at least you could be right there in the polling place keeping your eyes open for irregularities. You could perhaps check the counters on the voting machines at various points during the day. If there were enough people coordinating, you could count people as they vote. You could try to have enough Ron Paul supporters working there that you could periodically check the voter lists to see how many people had signed in.

Longer term, in some places it's up to each locality to decide how to count votes. In New Hampshire, it's supposed to be decided in town meetings. Hand counted paper ballots is an option, but getting that option in place would require getting people into those town meetings and active in the process. That would be a long-term effort but one with tangible positive effects.

I'd love to see a count, but it should be done in a way that can be effective and practical or else Ron Paul supporters are just having their efforts diverted to something that doesn't help Ron Paul. A partial and unverified count wouldn't prove anything to anyone.

Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable.

Just count the friggin Paul votes on the way into the poll

or out... Don't trust the media exit polls.. They've lied before so it's not a stretch to think they'd lie there too.

If you do nothing, no crying when it's all over.. Protect the vote.

Sooo many posts. But I have an idea

First, as common as phone cameras seem to be, there are way too many folks who don't have them. I don't see why we need photo proof in the booth if we have signatures outside the polls. Here's my idea for how to get numbers for all the votes, so an accurate comparison can be made. First, DON'T put up a Ron Paul sign over it. Use a table large enough to contain a list for each candidate. The sign should say, "Help verify the Diebold machines" or something about getting rid of them. Then, have a sheet for each candidate where they list the number on the little receipt they give you when you use those machines. A signature can be optional but they can list a password or something to match to the number. Some people highly prize their anonymity. Every voter may secretly have concerns for their own candidate's votes. If they want to be able to vouch for their guy, later, they can give their password to see if it's on the right list. I don't know, I guess it needs tweaking but it's a start.

Because of FAKE voters

I'd hate to be on tape for committing a felony. Romney stacked the Iowa vote with suited men in the front row. People using dead voter data, others voting twice with multiple IDs or names: let them try to do it, when you video tape the ins and outs.

Punch cards are altered, vote data is changed: the video camera is the weapon for truth. Two things, though:

1st priority: all Paul voters, signature last for ss. no.s, etc, email, etc.
2nd priority: total of all voters to prevent adding to the numbers
Do at least these two and you win.

Anything else you can do after this is superb, like video and also getting the count of all the other votes.

Oh, I see.

I misunderstood. You want us to "film" everyone as they leave the booth so we know how many voters voted? I don't think they'll let you do that. As a matter of fact I'm pretty sure they won't.
I think you can place a request to know the final number from the books with the signatures where people sign before they go vote.
I plan on being a poll worker, IF Texas even gets to have a primary.

A lot of Ron Paul supporters value their privacy

If I walked out of the polling place and someone wanted my signature, the last four digits of my social security number and my email address there's NO WAY I'd give it to them. I doubt I'm the only one who feels that way.

for more ideas. We can put a good plan together, using elements from different contributions.

DO NOT ASK FOR PERMISSION....

Coordinate this idea with the campaign, add information to the super brochures that:

1.) There will be two people at every voting station to count only Ron Paul votes.

2.) They will have an 8' x 3' sign that says "RON PAUL VOTE COUNT HERE."

3.) As a Ron Paul voter you will have to prove you voted for Ron Paul, you may use a digital camera, or Cell Phone to take a picture of your registered vote with RON PAUL selected and your name visible.

4.) You will then walk to the booth/Table under the sign, show your proof of vote to one of the two volunteers. You will also hand them any kind of ID confirming your face, name to go with your digital image of your vote.

5.) On confirmation of vote from the volunteer, they will hand you a clip board where you will PRINT YOUR NAME, sign your name and tick the Box that is numbered.

All forms will be in list form and have numbers already indicated for each person to simplify the count. Maybe each sheet could have three columns to fit as many names on as possible and be done on both sides to reduce the amount of paper needed.

To participate in this you must use a digital camera, or cell phone with picture taking ability, or ipod, or ipad, whatever you can buy or borrow for visual confirmation of your vote.

On existing the voting location look for the volunteers and sign. That's how I think it could be done. There may be a better simpler way, all I know it that it has to be done.

Just DO IT !

And if you catch flak?..You're over the target.
Might have to manueveur to a "safe" location, say
the proverbial 100 foot marker.
But this could work!

Well, if we want an

honest total your idea makes sense.

Prepare & Share the Message of Freedom through Positive-Peaceful-Activism.

Good idea actually.

If they won't let you set up a table inside then go outside 100 feet away and have a sign that will attract Paul supporters. They will go as all Paul supporters know he is being sandbagged.

Exit Poll with Afidavit: I , (name ) certify that I voted for

X for Box 1. witness 1. (signature) witness 2.(signature) Box 2: I have video evidence of my entire voting experience, even inside the booth.
Videotape everyone entering and exiting precinct in live time with active counts of #'s. Encourage all supporters not to vote early.
Reason for counting everyone is to prevent them from overstating the other's turnout. I guarantee there's monkey business going on. Why work so hard and do nothing to solve this problem?

Preventing Fraud

A group of us are going to be at the polling place here in Hawaii on March 13 the entire time. We hope to attract Ron Paul supporters over to get an unofficial count. We'll be comparing this number to the official one.

We're hoping our mere presence might deter dishonesty at such a small precinct.

If we can video tape, we will, but this is new to us so we’re not sure what we’ll have access to.

I’m not sure what else we can do to ensure fraud doesn't occur, but we are wide open to suggestions.

Record Every Paul Vote by Signature and other Data

At least do this. Second, record the total number of voters, ideally on video, coming in and going out.

The total is corrupted, and the Paul votes are shoved down. They did it in Iowa, New Hampshire, and SC for sure.

Without doubt, the GOP sent in fake voters in NH to stack the vote against Dr. Paul. I have proof of all this and will publish shortly.

We need official videotaped documentation

of total count at each precinct in each county in each state to be uploaded to 2 websites.

Organize locally for your state now!

South Carolina's "Winner" announced when only 3% were in

At the precise moment the polls closed across South Carolina tonight, with zero votes tallied by the 100% unverifiable e-voting systems the state forces voters to use on Election Day, all the news nets, save for CNN (which, in a short-lived moment of being responsible, thought it inappropriate to call the race with only 2 precincts actually reporting, so they waited until 3% were in before calling it), announced that Newt Gingrich was the "winner" of the all-important "First-in-the-South" 2012 Republican Primary.

What are YOU doing to Count Your Vote

in your own state?

Instead of asking

what Ron Paul's view on the space policy is.

hey, who cares if my vote isn't counted?

I'd rather talk about trivial bullshit. Besides, I'm not really a supporter of Ron Paul anyway. I actually work for another candidate! lol

Besides

I'd rather point the finger and ignore the only thing that matters at this point -- making sure the vote is counted.
