Older Republicans, Older Republicans, Older Republicans...

Say that over and over until that is all you think and breathe in order to gear yourself to the inescapable barrier we MUST overcome to WIN the nomination.

From this moment forward; that must be the major focus of our movement.

The problem is undeniable.

Success there is the ultimate and only path to break this open.

Nay saying on this issue is unacceptable.

Your personal feelings toward these folks, if it is unalterably negative, is unacceptable.

If you really want to win NOW, we must all get with this matter hard and right NOW.

Please keep this at the top because it is without a doubt our top priority.

Wouldn't you say that younger

Wouldn't you say that younger people to a higher degree only keep cells and no home phones?

Given the fact that the number of cell phones in America now equals at least 104% of the population I would say a lot of people can't be reached over home phones anymore. Some statistics show that almost 100% of American homes had phones in 2004, but that today only 2/3 have that.

This means that 1) younger voters' political preferences aren't measured accurately in polls anymore, 2) direct marketing over the phone now tends to reach the older more than the younger.

Some time, Rock, when the team is up against it, when things are wrong and the breaks are beating the boys, ask them to go in there with all they've got and win just one for the Gipper.

Easy work around

Re: Foreign relations

The most immediate impact of a Ron Paul presidency is on foreign relations /foreign policy /national security, and his stance here is obviously of great concern to many registered republicans.

Why not google some of the online polls that show RP with 95% support overseas, and use that?

I should think that is a strong argument for RP, combined with the argument that the U.S. today gives away way more money to the enemies of Israel than to Israel itself.

Some time, Rock, when the team is up against it, when things are wrong and the breaks are beating the boys, ask them to go in there with all they've got and win just one for the Gipper.

They always ask why does Ron get support from the youth.

But one of the biggest reasons is they are way more informed than the old, ignorant, tv watching citizens. Some old folks believe Ron wants to get rid of social security. My older brother, who is a democrat no matter who runs for the dems. Apparently NDAA etc, isn't a reason to change. I email him RP vids for 4 years, and still nothing. He told my mom Ron would get rid of social security, but if he had to vote Republican he would vote for Ron. Left right paradigm still going strong. He is smart but somehow willfully ignorant or uninformed. I also had to explain to my mom that he wants to phase out social security, but it wouldn't affect her. On a positive note, I have got some friends to see the light. I just get frustrated with these older uninformed citizens.

Totally agree.

I'm putting together an outline for a plan to inform seniors about the issues as they are, rather than as spun by the media. Seniors are afraid, understandably, for their own immediate future, and we must find a way to allay their fears. These folks are a critical voting block we must engage.

I'm open to suggestions. (And I'm 65+ so I can relate to this issue.)

For Ron Paul: Liberty for all Americans!

Nothing comes to those who wait.

This has been my experience:

I'm a very young 61. Everyone I know in my age group and older are Ron Paul supporters. It's like preaching to the choir.

The only truly stubborn age group I've been up against are the 30-40. They have kids, they work, they're busy. What little time they have on the internet is spent looking for money saving coupons/ideas, or glancing at Yahoo headlines for a few seconds - which seldom have a kind word for DP. After they've worked all day, taken care of dinner, attended a child's sporting event, thrown in a few loads of laundry, spent some time with spouse - when and if they turn on the TV they want to escape or laugh for a half hour. If they see any news at all, it's a brief glimpse while channel surfing - usually just long enough to hear someone call RP a dangerous loon.

This is how they live their lives and God bless 'em! They're the backbone of this country. But it's not a lifestyle conducive to ever hearing anything good (i.e. the truth) about Ron Paul.

THIS age group has been hardest for me to break through.

I came. I saw. I concurred.

Retirements are in jeopardy.

WHY is the topic of what is the clear and only obstacle to our

success being allowed to slide off of the top of active topics?

The Top Issue is not the Top Topic?

Seriously

If it seems like I am obsessed with this I am and you should be too-This is what is killing us. This is why we came in LAST in SC. This is why we have yet to WIN a primary. This is what determines weather we win the nomination and white house or not.

And it has 11 votes and is not even on the Top Recent Topics List??? WTF?

The people of SC are not the problem. The problem is the (older) people of SC have yet to hear the message, straight and in a way they can understand. That is our fault not theirs.

There is no doubt that the message is correct and what they seek.

There is also no doubt that they have yet to be presented with that correct message.

Do a test. Pretend you have no knowledge of the monetary system or the concept of blowback, nothing about sopa, ndaa.

Now using only mainstream TV, radio and newspapers, beginning with today and going forward-try to discern that RP is the one and his message is just what the country needs.

#1 ENEMY is the ESTABLISHMENT MEDIA-we have to face this reality

that we can't get the Baby Boomers, etc. without fighting the Media & countering their propaganda with "de-programming" information of our own. The nation is too populated to do a "change of heart" campaign to all the Baby Boomers and older-than-that generation. There's just too many people & not enough time.

I am in my 50's, and people our age group watch FoxNews too much. They are brainwashed by TV propaganda. They don't even think they are brainwashed.

There are TWO MAJOR WAYS we can counter the negativity of the Media:

1. File defamation lawsuits against the MEDIA asap~~This includes any disparaging statement made by one person about another, which is communicated or published. Ron Paul has been falsely slandered & villified by the Media outlets. He has been labeled persistently and at the same times by all the big Media outlets, and the lawsuits should be against FoxNews, CNN, CNBC, FoxNews Business, MSNBC, and several Talkshow Radio outlets. The purpose of these nefarious & coordinated activities have been to tip an election.

2. Produce TV ADs to warn the public that they are being suckered by the Corporate Media. Give examples to prove the point in the ad. Connect the dots for them, and tell them to "follow the money" which leads them to the BANKING BAILOUT BANKS and the Federal Reserve who has been transferring their wealth out of their pocketbooks for decades. End it by saying, "if you want real change vote for the only trustworthy & uncorrupted man in D.C....Dr. Ron Paul. Get them to trust their own instincts. They were right about the Banking Bailouts. They will be right to change their mind now, too. The promise-you-anything politicians have not changed, but our economy HAS.

3. ALWAYS in the future on TV, interviews, etc. mention Ron Paul as..........Dr. Ron Paul. It has more "status" than a Congressman, so Headquarters & all of us must ALWAY USE THAT TITLE REPETITIVELY.

Those are my only suggestions. If we can find some mega-wealthy donors to fund these ads from state to state, we could DE-PROGRAM the systematic brainwashing the Media has inflicted on an too trusting public, especially the older crowd, and we are in our 50's, so take my advice or not, but I agree, a number of TV ADS should also show Dr. Paul around older people for the warm-fuzzy feelings to occur when watching.

Someone else said we should focus on DR. PAUL solely & no longer the other candidates. Old folks like those warm, fuzzy kind of mellow, ahhhhh type, ads. Anyway, that's my 2 cents. WE'RE just as frustrated as you all are!

Regarding the vote fraud, perhaps considering a 3rd party run on the Libertarian ticket would be the best answer. I'm just upset now that I found out that Balderton Capital has financial interests in SCTYL who just bought the election SOE software company for the USA. The bad news is that Balderton Capital has 2 former Goldman Sachs executives, Tim Bunting & Mark Evans, acting as General Partners. Documentation below:

http://www.marketwatch.com/story/scytl-acquires-soe-software...

http://www.balderton.com/team/mark-evans

I am not sure what we can do regarding GOP vote fraud, but if we can find evidence of tampering in any of these previous or upcoming states, then, we'd have a case against them, as well as the Media. Countering the Media is probably the most important thing we can do via lawsuits & TV education Ads for the public. That's all I can think of.

Seriously

I try not to bump up some topics by leaving a comment, but I can't let this one slide.

You SERIOUSLY think Ron Paul hasn't won 1st place as he deserved to in any of these primaries because of the "older people"?

You are seriously unaware that there is rampant VOTE COUNT FRAUD going on??? You would rather blame it on either we're not doing enough or Ron Paul isn't doing it right???

VOTE COUNT FRAUD is the one thing that will ensure Ron Paul never receives 1st place or a chance to win enough delegates. Each vote fraud in each primary will allow the media to mock him even more as unelectable.

see "VOTE UP" thread for what to do -- that is, if you're serious.

Seriously - Trust is the Most Important Issue

Seriously, the biggest enemy is not voter fraud. It is that the "older people" and the "middle people" do not know what Ron Paul stands for because they have never heard. All of my family and extended family ages 30-67 have no idea what Ron Paul stands for and they are afraid of the things they hear from the MSM and they repeat their fears to one another. Any attempt at correction generally ends up in a hysterical battle that leads no where except into the arms of the illusion presented by the MSM.

They must learn why he is safe, honorable and trustworthy and they will not hear it if your opening lines begin with assaults against the truth of the Word of God. That is what I mean about keep your message the simplicity of upholding the Constitution. Do not present your libertarian arguments. They will not hold water in a Christian world. Ron Paul is safe, honorable and trustworthy because he upholds the Constitution, he honors his oath of office, he keeps his word, he has a plan to reduce the budget by $1 trillion, he has a plan to bring the troops home safely to secure our borders, he is not afraid to go to war if Congress authorizes its execution, he is not willing to go to war without Congressional authorization, he is not willing to spend money on unconstitutional propositions, he will veto anything that does not meet the limitations of Section 8 of the Constitution, ...

All of these statements are true of Ron Paul and they can all be said without offending God or God's people. You need to decide which is more important. The vain attempt to impose abominations on God's people or the fully attainable goal of having Ron Paul elected as President. The restoration of the Constitution includes the restoration of the freedom from government infringement of our right to freely practice our religion. You cannot obliterate the first amendment without having the rest of the Constitution subsequently obliterated.

I Nominate you for DP Leader in the effort to control vote fraud

Congratulations and Godspeed!

Dr Paul needs to continue to state,

these other candidates are going to keep borrowing from the Chinese, have the Fed print more money, and spend it on these endless wars and rebuilding the nations we just destroyed. This inflation of the money supply by debt creation devalues your money, making your cost of living rise. Soon, if not already, retirees will have to go back to work, so they can survive. It really comes down to, do you want to police the world, and face economic collapse, or do you want to end this huge militaristic dollar destroying adventure, cut out the fat, and focus on National Security, which is being severely neglected. We presently have a National Security policy 'on the cheap', so money can be siphoned for military adventures abroad, that benefit the fat cat special interest, and fail to address the root of the problem. In the 30yrs I've taken oath to office, my focus, as our Constitution states, has been first and foremost for protecting our country. The 'on the cheap' National Security the other candidates have supported and will continue to support, by supporting the attack against American's freedoms, by way of the Patriot Act, the TSA, etc, will not keep you safe.

Barry Goldwater

He is the reason I am a Republican. I am 55 and was a little kid when he ran. I remember the passion my mother and so many had for him and his platform. He is a true Republican and probably the last until RP. THAT is who people of the older generation think of when they think of a great Republican and not so much Reagan. The campaign really needs to focus on the similarities between his platform and RPs and the differences between his and the rest of the clowns. My brother, who has not been a big fan of RP, finally recognizes that Ron Paul is of the same vein as Goldwater and Taft (his words). So, though he says "RP's foreign policy is naive there is nothing wrong with that" because he is a true Republican before it was taken over by the fake Christian right and neocons. The link has to be reinforced for the older folks to get it.

BINGO

You are 100% correct. We need to get the message through to OLDER REPUBLICANS to WIN this nomination. The mass media won't do it for us. Debates will help some from now on, with so few candidates left. But it's going to take some propaganda efforts by the campaign to put forward an appropriately-crafted message, and then efforts by us to spread that message.

We each need to focus on developing methods of successfully propagating the right message among the OLDER REPUBLICANS near us.

What is begun in anger, ends in shame.

Exactly, this must be our obsession from this point forward.

If we win this battle, we win this war.

Rise to the challenge.

The active forum topics should be almost exclusively this issue.

This is THE ISSUE. All others are distractions and time wasters.

We Must wise reach each one of these people one-on-one.

The media will not help us and the official campaign is not as nimble in changing focus as we can be.

If you are talking up someone under 45 at this point you are talking to the wrong people.

Deliver the message directly so they get it undistorted.

Listen to them, listen to THEIR concerns, listen to THEIR objections and craft your delivery of the message to demonstrate that it is the correct and only solution to their concerns and that their objections are due to media distortions.

Also, take the time to convince them that the media is lying to them and manipulating them. That will pay huge dividends.

Again, One senior won over is a tremendous victory because they WILL talk to the other seniors in their language.

How about getting a Grandma for Ron Paul out there in the MSM?!

Zak, appreciate the mass communication idea

and we can work those things but unfortunately once things like that are launched it is no longer in our complete control on how and how much it is used. The media has not been generally friendly.

I think we must suck it up and go the bull by the horns route.
Only then can we completely know and control what is being delivered AND equally important how it is being received.

It will be slow at first but once we get a good number of field reports we will be able to repeat what works and works fastest; exclude what fails.

This is a repeat but please read and comment:

Student loans and social security

I mentioned this briefly in another thread and its worth mentioning here.

For voters with children, explain the student loan bubble. Explain that no matter how much money the government pumps into education, this only results in inflation and increased costs of tuition.

Explain that they are (in essence) piling this debt onto their children and grandchildren.

Explain how social security is at risk, and the same principle of printing and borrowing money to fund social security means that the money received by the senior will buy less due to inflation.

Explain that Dr. Paul's position to end aid to foreign countries and direct that money to sure up social security is a big part the solution.

6 comments so far and only 2 UP VOTES for attacking the problem

that stands between us and victory.

Right now their are threads asking, for the umpteenth time, about who you will vote for if RP isn't nominated and other useless energy draining, focus blurring topics w/ 40+ votes.

Is this place about WINNING the Nomination or a party line of pop jibber jabber.

Random thoughts

1. Open doors for the elderly, especially when wearing a Paul shirt. Especially when with a Paul group.

2. Replace the Ron Paul chant with a song to the tune of a popular radio song from middle of the 20th century. Change the words to be for liberty and maybe mention Paul. Add a "Ron Paul" background in some environments. The memory and sentiment should make the elderly smile.

3. Work to create scenarios of how a Paul recovery to the economy will affect seniors.

Now that is an excellent example of brainstorming solutions

to THE ONLY PROBLEM

This angle

If we do not get Ron Paul in office, government spending and inflation will continue to destroy the social security system.

Only Ron Paul can ensure that those who have paid in receive their money back when they retire.

That is definitely an angle that must be presented clearly

and undistorted-directly, one-on-one to the demo we need until the light bulb turns on, they are on board AND they become actively involved in spreading the message to other seniors-as their number one priority.

We have successfully created thousands of self-motivated, self-funded, RP message bombs among the younger crowd.

We must be totally focused on doing that w/ older folks.

Each one takes very much one-on-one time but then each one of those will work the older crowd in the language of the older crowd.

And they do NOT his voting because they are at the bar or too stoned.

Ron Paul has to be blunt

Ron Paul has to be blunt about it...

If we don't end these wars, and bring our troops home from all over the world, Baby Boomers social security checks will not buy them a can of beans in the near future.

Ron Paul scores well on domestic economic issues, but now he has to relate America's economic condition to US government foreign policy.

Never be afraid to ask simple questions.

There is hope.

My 80+ yr.old parents voted for him and will be writing his name on the ballot if his name is not on it in Nov..

Have you explained to them how critical it is for them

to actively spread the alarm to their peers. How little time we have left and how this is not a business as usual election.
That getting this right and right NOW means the difference between certain near future collapse and chaos or averting disaster in the nick of time.

Thanks for your efforts and success.
