SOPA Back Already... Beware of OPEN

Admittedly I haven't gotten the chance to look at this too closely yet but it certainly looks like they aren't giving in...

"As the House and Senate's anti-piracy bills increasingly look like they're on their way to the trashcan, Rep. Darrell Issa and Sen. Ron Wyden must be taking tap dance breaks, as they push forward their alternative piece of legislation: OPEN. The position of the bipartisan, bicameral bill is interesting. Issa, a California Republican just introduced the bill to the House on Wednesday, and Wyden, an Oregon Democrat, introduced it to the Senate late last year."

Yeah, BEWARE! This Isn't New!

They've had it in the pipeline the whole time. Issa and Wyden were against SOPA / PIPA.

Watch Marco Rubio, the so-called "Tea Party" candidate - he was a SOPA co-sponsor. RIDICULOUS! I never understood how people considered Rubio "conservative" in the first place!

And Hatch, somebody has got to toss him down the hatch once and for all!

I may be a vegetarian, but I'll defend to the death my right to eat meat!

About as "open" as the Patriot Act was patriotic I bet...

I will say that a cursory reading of the WIKI page for OPEN shows it is superior to SOPA, but IMHO still goes too far. The DMCA went too friggin far.

Piracy can never ever be stopped any more than illegal drug trade, unregistered gun trade or prostitution can ever be stopped. The law of supply and demand cannot be repealed by government legislation and given a sufficiently high demand, the market will ALWAYS find a way around legal barriers.

Prohibition does not work... can not work... never will work no matter how much of our tax money they waste on it... and the ferver in which our braindead government desires to keep trying the same failed experiments never ceases to amaze me.

It's getting a bit tiresome

to be constantly defending the country from ceaseless traitorous assaults by the evil corrupt people inhabiting government.

Exactly...

The game is rigged... You must continuously fight, all the time, non-stop... Yet, they do not have to work very hard at all to attack. So what happens is, the second you take a break, they win a battle which becomes cemented in stone, and then the process begins all over again.

I have offered a legal solution to reverse this trend to keep them fighting and us relaxed... But is not implementable in the US.

I resposted the basic summary...

of what I would propose to correct the problem.

As I said, the idea of implementing it in the US at a federal level would be next to impossible, but I can hope that someday, there will be such a country.

Can't find the old post...

So I will write up a new one and link it from here as soon as I get the chance...

SOPA lite....

This is just SOPA lite, same thing without the DNS provision and any copyright claimant has to obtain a bond.
