Idaho to be first Chinese state

The Chinese will soon complete the purchase of a large chunk of land in Toledo, Ohio and then buy 30,000 acres in Idaho.

While we are debating about who should be the next president, China is buying land in the US and will be immune to our LAWS?! We export jobs to China and they bring them back in the form of slavery – our labor laws will have no effect. What’s next, the importation of tanks and soldiers to protect their investment?

Haven't read the articles yet - watching the debate.

BUT, the Chinese Government CANNOT create its own soveign state within our country! They can buy land, but they MUST FOLLOW OUR LAWS!!!

Yeah, just allowing them to buy up all our land is a HUGE PROBLEM; the same problem with open borders and the reason I part ways on that issue with Libertarians - it is a violation of MY PRIVATE PROPERTY RIGHTS when they take over the country.

Land is NOT an INFINITE RESOURCE, and screwing Americans out of their Right to the Pursuit of Happiness by devaluing our currency and over-populating our land with outsiders is a violation of the Constitution because the ONLY ROLE OF GOVERNMENT IS TO DEFEND US FROM SUCH FOREIGN ATTACKS ON OUR INDIVIDUAL LIBERTIES. Sorry, the LINE MUST BE DRAWN SOMEWHERE - "Open Borders" DOES NOT create freedom for "Everyone;" no it actually ENSLAVES ALL OF US!

Does that mean you’re against all immigration, frankly I find that absurd. People moving back and forth providing services is very similar to the transfer of goods through trade; and the government shouldn't place unnecessary restrictions on such activities. Now I'm all for having a SECURE open border, where the immigrants are checked for criminal records, epidemics etc.; however I'm not for implementing isolationist policies and shutting down the entire border.

one, I guess you could take it as a right to privacy issue or something. Two, if it's in the contract, it is what it is. THey can do whatever they want on that land.

there's a big difference between Chinese products being shipped to the US for purchase and the Nation of China purchasing land to own in the US as sovereign land in our backyards.

As noBIGgov said, they could easily bring their own troops to occupy that land and protect it. It would be the equivalent of our bases everywhere in the world which has led to the hate and threat of terrorism we face today. So don't be an idiot.

Don't forget that a Canadian company with the help of our government critters wants to divide our nation in half, taking the fertile farmland of the Plains states - land that private individuals own. Land that would require the federal government to invoke eminent domain to give to a foreign corporation that may or may not sell their sandy oil to us.

Don't know about the whole land/laws thing - sounds like nonsense to me, they can't set up their own gunvernment AFAIK.

Anyway, if they build a 'Chinese' city in Idaho, using Chinese design / codes, Chinese materials, Chinese managed construction and / or labor, the damn thing will fall apart in two years, so we can all relax.

Obama is helping the chinese get rid of it's bad debt by putting the US money it holds into the best thing it can.. Our frigging land.

So that bad debt gets put back into our market and the tax payer bears that burden too while the Chinese buy up the US and discounted prices..and they get tax breaks...
