Gingrich Admits He's a Progressive:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qi314LJ6uwM

Here's part of the 1912 Progressive Party's platform, the Roosevelt tradition that Newt Gingrich claimed he came from:

"Roosevelt became disappointed by Taft's increasingly conservative policies. Taft alienated Roosevelt when he used the Sherman Anti-Trust Act to break up U.S. Steel. During his own presidency, Roosevelt had approved J.P. Morgan-owned U.S. Steel as a "good" trust."

The 1912 Progressive Party platform:

-A National Health Service to include all existing government medical agencies

-Social insurance, to provide for the elderly, the unemployed, and the disabled

-An inheritance tax

-A Constitutional amendment to allow a Federal income tax

-Direct election of Senators

"In general the platform expressed Roosevelt's "New Nationalism": a strong government to regulate industry, protect the middle and working classes, and carry on great national projects."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Progressive_Party_(United_States,_1912)

The 1924 Progressive Party, in the La Follette tradition, which Newt Gingrich claimed to be from:

"In 1924 his new party (using the old 1912 name) called for public ownership of railroads, which catered to the Railroad brotherhoods. La Follette ran with Senator Burton K. Wheeler, Democratic Senator from Montana. The party represented a farmer/labor coalition and was endorsed by the Socialist Party of America, the American Federation of Labor and many railroad brotherhoods."

This self-admitted Progressive, Newt Gingrich, is now claiming to be a conservative, and the media is going along with it, and actually presenting him as and outsider and a Tea Party candidate!

This fraud has to be exposed!

Newt as Rockefeller Republican campaigned AGAINST Ronald Reagan

Newt worked for Rockefeller who was in the nomination contest against Nixon and Reagan (who was carrying Goldwater ideas).

Not only was Newt campaigning against Goldwater's ideas, he was literally campaigning AGAINST RONALD REAGAN!

"Rockefeller again sought the Republican presidential nomination in 1968. His opponents were Nixon and Governor Ronald W. Reagan of California. In the contest, Rockefeller again represented the liberals in the GOP, Reagan representing the conservative Goldwater element, and Nixon representing moderates and liberals also."

Mitt Romney is pretty much a Rockefeller Republican. Santorum already endorsed Mitt last cycle. Newt will eventually endorse Mitt. There's only one true conservative.

Gee

Big Surprise!

Now the headline on Drudge is that Newt

wants his lynch mob audience to hoot and holler or he'll pull out of the debates.

Sorry, I'm being harsh, he wants his audience to yell and stomp instead of being unobtrusive and respectful, with occasional applause at something remarkable. He doesn't get much out of the debates when he can't have that, apparently.

Will this hurt

the fraud?

What's the problem?

He had to have been around 20-21 years old when he "supported" Goldwater and then switched to Rockefeller.

Why even mention it, except to say that his character (or lack thereof) had already been fully developed?

He was an opportunistic snake back then and he hasn't changed at all. That's his warped version of consistancy.

“It is the food which you furnish to your mind that determines the whole character of your life.”
―Emmet Fox

As one of the great

As one of the great Reagan-era conservative historians, you would think Newt would remember this sort of thing.

EXACTLY!!! Everytime someone

EXACTLY!!!

Everytime someone attacks Newt he just says that they are lying and its obvious, they have a history of lying and that it's unfair and he's not going to address it.

But because everyone thinks Newt "is so smart" and "debates so well" surely he wouldn't be flat out lying on national TV. But of course he is, and rarely does the media ever call him out on it.

That debate last night was all about Newt pandering to the Floridians. Every response was calculated to get old people scared and coming out in droves.

Kinda like Santorum belaboring that the boogeymen are in Cuba just waiting to launch attacks on us from their sophisticated networks throughout Nicuragua, Venezuala and Cuba.

I'd like to see Dr. Paul tell them to quit being afriad of boogey men, have some courage and start acting like Americans.

exactly

>>I'd like to see Dr. Paul tell them to quit being afriad of >>boogey men, have some courage and start acting like Americans.

I tell people this all the time. If you're afraid of a few rag heads holed up in a cave in the middle east you're a coward.
.... I think your phraseology is a little better than mine :-)

When I hear the name Rockefeller

I always remember of the following quote which aligns quite well with Gingrich's modus operandi:

We are grateful to the Washington Post, the New York Times, Time magazine and other great publications whose directors have attended our meetings and respected the promises of discretion for almost forty years. It would have been impossible for us to develop our plan for the world if we had been subject to the bright lights of publicity during those years. But, the world is now more sophisticated and prepared to march towards a world-government. The supranational sovereignty of an intellectual elite and world bankers is surely preferable to the National autodetermination practiced in past centuries.-- David Rockefeller in an address to a Trilateral Commission meeting in June of 1991

Gingrich supports Godwater - what a joke. I guess he believes he can say just about anything and it will be believed since the warvangelicals have spoken.

The law cannot make a wicked person virtuous…God’s grace alone can accomplish such a thing.

Here' some history

I was too young in 1964 to remember Goldwater vs. Rockefeller so here is a bit from Wikepedia. Rockefeller lines up with Newt pretty well

Rockefeller, favored by moderate and liberal Republicans, was considered the front-runner for the 1964 campaign against conservative Senator Barry Goldwater of Arizona, who led the right wing of the Republican Party. In 1963, a year after Rockefeller's divorce from his first wife, he married Margaretta "Happy" Murphy, a divorcee with four children.[49] This turned many in the party off, especially women.[49] The divorce hurt Rockefeller's standing among voters and was widely condemned by politicians, including US Senator Prescott Bush (R-Connecticut), father of President George H.W. Bush and grandfather of President George W. Bush who spoke out condemning Rockefeller for his infidelity, divorce, and remarriage.[50] Rockefeller finished third in the New Hampshire primary in March, behind write-in Henry Cabot Lodge, Jr. (from neighboring Massachusetts) and Goldwater. He then endured poor showings in several primaries, before winning an upset in the Oregon primary in May. The birth of Rockefeller's child during the California campaign put the divorce and remarriage issue back in the headlines.[49] After a furious contest, Rockefeller narrowly lost the California primary in early June and dropped out of the race. However, at the Republican National Convention in San Francisco in July, Rockefeller was given five minutes to speak before the convention in defense of five amendments to the party platform put forth by the moderate wing of the Republican Party[51] to counter the Goldwater plank. Right wing delegates booed and heckled Rockefeller for 16 minutes while he stood firmly at the podium insisting on his right to speak.[52] Rockefeller refused to support Goldwater in the general election.[53]
Rockefeller again sought the Republican presidential nomination in 1968. His opponents were Nixon and Governor Ronald W. Reagan of California. In the contest, Rockefeller again represented the liberals in the GOP, Reagan representing the conservative Goldwater element, and Nixon representing moderates and liberals also. Rather than formally announce his candidacy and enter the state primaries, Rockefeller spent the first half of 1968 alternating between hints that he would run, and pronouncements that he would not be a candidate. Shortly before the Republican convention, Rockefeller finally let it be known that he was available to be the nominee, and he sought to round up uncommitted delegates and woo reluctant Nixon delegates to his banner, armed with public opinion polls that showed him doing better among voters than either Nixon or Reagan against Democrat Hubert Humphrey. Nixon easily defeated both Reagan and Rockefeller, however.

Newt, the one-man spin machine, is growing wearisome.

His pattern now of calling accusations AND the accuser a LIAR is backfiring and his defense is nothing more than spinning more lies on top of lies. Pathological? Uh-huh.

(I still can't believe he said Dr. Paul "says lot of things" in a few debates back, insinuating he too is a Liar.)

So much for Newt's 'debate' skills. If it came down to Obama and Newt in a debate I can hear it now:

Obama: It's Bush's fault and yours for lobbying for Fannie Mae that got us into this recession.

Newt: That's patently a lie and you know it. Everybody knows you're a Liar. I won't waste debate time on such nonsense.
Obama: They're not Lies!
Newt: Yes they are!
Moderator: Where's the audience going? We still have a hour and 25 min. to go.

"If you want something you've never had before, you have to do something you've never done before." Debra Medina

Barry Goldwater Jr.

Think he'd make a good spokesperson for Gun Owners For Ron Paul 2012?

Scrutiny

When I heard him claim Goldwater, it stuck me a little funny... But it didn't come to much because I was distracted by a previous bit of psychobabble...

If Newt cannot withstand the scrutiny of the conservatives, how will he fair against the democrats?!
His record has a closet full of skeletons. Not to mention his personal one!

When Fascism goes to sleep, it checks under the bed for Ron Paul!

Video: Newt Gingrich Admits He's a Progressive

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qi314LJ6uwM

I watched this video a couple of hours before I heard him on Hannity's radio show referring to himself as a "conservative."

To Be Fair - He actually Only Stated That He...

"Went to a Goldwater meeting". He did not say he actually supported him, so be careful with this one - he can deny the allegation easily. This Newt ain't a newt by accident - he has made a career out of being a pathological, serial liar!

"Liberty tastes sweetest to those who fight for it, and most bitter to those who work to deny it!"

LearnRonPaul

Went to a Goldwater meeting, learned Barry was still married to

his first wife, then decided he'd rather "get Happy" with Rockefeller.

Birds of a feather.

what's Fair

is us calling him out for being disingenuous. He used Goldwater to evoke a response favorable to his (non)conservative credibility. It's misleading and dishonest.

https://twitter.com/#!/Agonzo1

I agree with you that it's dishonest...

All I pointed out was that he said what he said...and to state that he said anything otherwise is also dishonest. Two wrongs don't make a right. Since he was non-committal to the statement, he will slither away as he nearly always does.

"Liberty tastes sweetest to those who fight for it, and most bitter to those who work to deny it!"

LearnRonPaul

it's fair game

they snipped Mitt Romney's "I like to fire people" and used it against him. Ron Paul wouldn't be that vile, but Gingrich is. Turnabout is fair play.

https://twitter.com/#!/Agonzo1

I wonder if a PAC could get a hold of Goldwater Jr

to do a commercial for Paul?

Wonder if the PACs would be interested in this for

an add? What a freakin liar this man is.... This could bring his arse down to earth in the polls!!!!!

haha

slimy shape-shifting liar

That's Master Professional

slimy shape-shifting liar.

The beautiful thing about this catch

is that Gingrich can't claim that he has changed. He is lying about his own personal history, not current beliefs. I get so sick of all the religious people saying that "he's changed", "he's catholic now".

Good one from Twitter: Newt

Good one from Twitter:

Newt Gingrich family values? Using children from your first wife to convince people that your second wife is lying about your third wife.

Send this to every conversative "values" voter, especially women.

Edit: This Jan 23 segment from Jon Stewart is also great for Gingrich deconstruction:

http://www.thedailyshow.com/watch/mon-january-23-2012/indeci...

Some quotes like "I'm an outsider" are over the top.

Yeh....we're Catholic, and

we agree!! The Grinch lies, and someday he'll have to face GOD.
