Newspaper advertising - Ron Paul Blimp style

I think that someone creating a company to handle grassroots advertisements in local newspapers in the style that the Ron Paul Blimp is being handled would be a good idea.

The grassroots would have to help find the specific papers to advertise in, and probably create them, too. The main thing with the company (and maybe more local companies) would be for a more centralized place for people to send the money to fund the advertisements in the newspapers.

Local companies could be started to directly purchase the advertisement space in their local papers, and the more central company would be the focus point for the grassroots to collectively purchase these advertisements.

This may not be a good explanation, but please discuss this and other possibilities below.

This could even be applied to other things like TV and Radio.

Why not the blimp guys?

I think it would help legitimize their non-527 status and expand their product catalog, as well as maximize any volume discounts that might be had.

I think that's a great idea.

At first we could pick an area of Carolina, maybe 3 counties deep by three counties wide and start playing the ads in ALL the papers that are in those 9 counties. A big one on Sunday, a fairly big on one on 'Thursday, Little ones all through the week. Then watch the returns on election day. If our candidate shows a significant difference in that 9 county area, we know they're effective.

Older folks read the local paper. If you're in the local paper, you feel familiar. If you're on TV, you feel like... well... you're on TV.

Yeah

Maybe test it out in South Carolina and Nevada, and if it seems to be effective, crank it up for Florida and Maine, and all over for super tuesday.

A central website for newspaper advertisements

Actually, a central company that directly handles the payments from people wouldn't be necessary, if someone created a website to keep track of all the different local companies selling this service, and how much money they need and have received. The people would still have a central place to see all of the different companies for the different areas, but the overhead from a "central" company would be gone. And just like the RP Blimp, since it would be private companies and people purchasing portions of a message/advertisement from the company, we can avoid the FEC laws.
