What song to play when we win?

When we win the republican GOP, or maybe even when we beat Obama, what song should we play? I vote for "God's Not Dead" by the Newsboys.

Let love explode and bring the dead to life
A love so bold to see a r3volution somehow
Now I'm lost in Your freedom
And this world I'll overcome

My God's not dead
He's surely alive
He's livin on the inside
Roaring like a lion

VICTORY SONG

By Jordan Page

"Wars are poor chisels for carving out peaceful tomorrows." - Martin Luther King, Jr.

NEED Copyright permission!

I just checked youtube and a video titled "Ron Paul Won't Back Down" (NH speech) has been removed.

It says "This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by Gone Gator Music."

As a lover of music, DJ for 5 years and Music and Program Director at a radio station, my only advice is SEPARATE YOUR LOVE OF MUSIC FROM YOUR POLITICAL AND RELIGIOUS BELIEFS!!! Otherwise you'll miss out on a lot of good music!

Tom Petty STOPPED Bachmann and Bush!

http://www.rawstory.com/rawreplay/2011/06/tom-petty-reported...

Tom Petty may be taking legal action to make sure Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann stops using his songs at her campaign events.

“NBC News: @TomPetty unhappy with Michele Bachmann’s use of ‘American Girl’ and in process of issuing [a cease and desist] letter,” Matt Ortega reported on Twitter only hours after hours after Bachmann used the popular song to kick off her campaign.

NBC’s Kelly O’Donnell confirmed that report Monday night.

“And details matter, and when Bachmann left the stage here, her campaign played the Tom Petty hit song, ‘American Girl,’” O’Donnell said. “Turns out petty isn’t pleased. His manager says they will ask the Bachmann campaign not to use that song.”

Petty also issued a cease and desist letter to then-Governor George W. Bush for illegally using “I won’t back down” at his rallies.

“The impression that you and your campaign have been endorsed by Tom Petty, which is not true,” music publisher Wixen Music Publishing Inc. told the Bush campaign.

To make matters worse for Bachmann, former RNC Online Communications Director Liz Mair made this observation about the use of the Petty’s tune: “Isn’t that what the kidnapped politician’s daughter was singing in ‘Silence of the Lambs?’

Legality?

Do you need permission to play a song during an acceptance speech? I know they played Tom Petty's "I Won't Back Down" at the NH speech, and it fits perfectly.

BUT, do you actually need permission from the band to do that?

I know The Talking Heads sued Gov. Charlie Christ for using "Road to Nowhere" against Rubio (I think), but that may have been in an actual ad, which is definitely not allowed without permission.

I'm in the bar/nightclub

I'm in the bar/nightclub business. We pay ASCAP an annual licensing fee for the music that we play. I would guess that a political campaign could do the same thing for an event, circumventing the actual band.

Never heard of the Newsboys but

just watched the video.

OK, musically they are good. But, while I actually listen to some bands that happen to be officially Christian-music bands, I got into them from their secular label releases.

I don't think Christian label music is going to jive with most Ron Paul supporters.

I'm Christian, but I prefer to keep my music life separate from that! Most bands I listen to I absolutely disagree with politically.

Probably because I'm going to

Probably because I'm going to see his show this weekend, but I think this song would be GREAT, as a slap in the face to the status quo. I'm sure he would gladly edit the lyrics a little, though I think it would be just fine the way it is, for the initial win period...would help put the liberal at easy LOL.

"The Government Can"

I love this song!!!
