The Police State In This Country MUST Be Stopped! No trial, 2 years in solitary after DWI arrest!

72 votes

This is why the jury system is so very important in this country.

The link below tells the story of a $22 million dollar jury award given to a man held in his county jail for two years without trial, for a DWI. His story is more than appalling!

* I called my Senator and Congressman and demanded these people, each and every one of them are brought up on Human Rights Violations, and they deserve 2 years each in solitary, stripped of their pensions, and jobs.

Dona Ana County Facility, New Mexico

Pick up that phone, operators are standing by....

Don't let them think that 22 million solves anything. Let them know that Justice is coming for them.

Be Your Own Media!!!

We're in deep trouble whenever we allow this to happen.

If it were me, I'd spend part of the money suing the Sheriff and others involved, in civil court. These people have to be punished.

Those responsible need to be

Those responsible need to be charged with human rights violation and stripped of their pensions....and jobs. All of them

I feel for the guy, but 22 million!!! Thats 22 million of uor money! it should have been limited to the responsible officers salary for life. And anyone else involved--judge, DA

i agree 22 mill

is a lot of money but don't worry the FED will just print the money and send it to the state and then tax the people because the states are not run by the people anymore they are run by Washington and the FED!

Susan Lindauer (CIA asset) testimony

Brian Luke wrote an article supportive of Ron Paul vs. Glenn Beck’s negative rantings about Dr. Paul’s foreign policy. Note my posting the CIA Whistle Blower link in the comment section. Susan Lindauer talks about her imprisonment for one year while she was denied a trial under the guise of the Patriot Act. It’s a long video, but she explains the Patriot Act was based on the Soviet Criminal Act which formed the basis of establishing the Russian gulags. It’s a chilling account of lies and disinformation being used to promote wars and punish anyone who dares to question the government’s agenda. My purpose is not to push or dispel opinions on what happened on 9/11 since credibility is always an issue, but her experience as a prisoner deprived of her Constitutional rights seemed pertinent here especially since she had inside knowledge of events leading to the war in Iraq.

Part of My Post Today on RP Strategy to Destroy His Opposition

HERE'S A PART OF MY POST TODAY:

"The other day I read a DP post recommending RP should be aggressive in the upcoming debate, Monday's. Although I like that sentiment, I think RP should be assertive, firm.

"I was talking with my dad about this recommendation. He said something interesting. He said RP in debates and in his campaign commercials should point out his opponents' insufficiencies and his successes.

"....

"Point to their records -- their legislation, their bills and their relationships with businesses that brought on the mess -- that build the police state and then point to your record, Ron, because it repeals and dissolves the police state. Mention your legislation, your bills and when you submitted them. Heck, show that you're 1 for 600+ in getting your bills passed because your bills adhere to the Constitution, therefore to freedom. Make that statement then describe that your legislation pertains to freedom and theirs creates and maintains entrapment socially (think: civil liberties) and financially for 99% of americans.

"....

"Merely you'd be stating legislation, votes and issues in your record that protect freedom then mention your opponent's equivalents broadly or in question format just before inviting him to talk about those equivalents. Open the floor to your opponents to talk about their record (with you in front of everyone). It would be a conversation in a way, one that steam rolls the BS. They would stammer, I'd think. They can't compete against you, Ron. They would have nothing good to say and NO WHERE to hide. This manuever should make crystal clear to everyone watching the differences between you and them:

"You are for freedom and your opponents have been and are for corporatism. You are for people's freedom and your opponents are for people's indentured servitude to the government and corporations.

"Their records can't hold a candle to yours in protecting freedom. Doing this, doing the contrast in a debate, should be a game changer the size of a tidal wave. Chalk up a W for you and Ls for them. Game over. Ron, you win.

"MAKE THE CONTRASTS."

I was convicted of a DUI at

I was convicted of a DUI at .068 in a state that posts .08 Limit Signs. I was fired from my job, lost healthcare, I have a disease. They let me drive home, testified they "believed" they impounded my car. I was arrested by a cop with a suatained record of untruthfulness. I was given 11 different court dates from pretrial to appeal. They kept changing it, because the state patrol didn't legally monitor the breathalyzer, but then again that didn't matter because they convicted me under the limit. I stood up for my rights at the scene because they violated my 4th Amendment and I thought the law was .08. I had 3 beers. They fabricated the police report. I found out via FOIA that the prosecutor is required to hand over the exculpatory evidence of the cops sustained record of untruthfulness, but I don't even think the prosecutor is meeting that Constitutional obligation known as Brady Precedent. Then again, I'm not sure the US Attorney's office is upholding the Constitution either (Gilgio).
Pretrial date after pretrial, they kept jacking me around. I wouldn't so much take a speeding ticket because I didn't do anything. $11,000 in lawyer bills it cost me to defend myself only to get convicted. Makes it tough when they do that to be politically active. But I learned how much they are violating civil liberties. I have the statistics and from 2008-2010 about 3% of all convictions (some variables in there) are for under .08, despite the signs posting .08 Limit, beyond that, they are charging people Negligent Driving (Alcohol) for the charge under DUI (if DUI is the standard for impairment).

This is racketeering and violation of civil liberties.

Each and every case of this cop with record of sustained untruthfulness MUST be examined as who's to say that the prosecutor is not withholding this evidence?

After all the people have the right to question their accusers and receive due process of law.

I learned that the cops and the courts cannot be trusted, nor can the lawmakers.

Awful but at l east he is still alive

Here in Lake Arrowhead, California Allen Kephart is dead after a traffic stop and the police were declared legally justified in killing him. And then there is Kelly Thomas dead after being beaten till he was brain dead.

The police are so out of control it is unreal. They are the criminals to be afraid of.

The Redmond WA Police Tazered

The Redmond WA Police Tazered a woman in a diabetic coma after suspecting her of DUI and she wouldn't get out of the car because she was in a diabetic coma....only after they invaded her body and were proved wrong, did they admit they were wrong....this is an example of a cowardly law enforcement agency. They are all out of control.

So much for the standard of Probable Cause. This is a corrupt gang in this town.

Be Your Own Media!!!

My sentiments too

Happy he is still with the living.

btw, I like the part of the story were the police and people involved demonstrated their great remorse for this situation and are willing to take full responsibility...after they appeal the case of course lol

p.s. Chicago native and the Illinois ex-Governor's buddy Tony Resko still has to serve 7 more years in prison. older news but just learned it today.

Red Light Cameras..The Police/Surveillance Fiasco

And this is a part of the overall campaign to get Ron Paul elected. Police departments not only are getting very chummy with the police departments, but many are purchasing drones (ie right there in the middle of the Industrial/Military Complex) and I read there is now a min-drone (I think it is called a razor) that using GPA can just hone in on the non-charged perpetrator land on him or her and eliminate the citizen.

My husband recently took me to the airport in the middle of the night (to get frisked) and upon leaving with no traffic in sight got caught with a red light camera that was definitely obscured. He went into court with past cases won...a picture of the hardly marked camera...and the fact that a company in another state studied the film and passed judgement. Not a law enforcement officer. $530 later...he left court totally disgusted by the judge the court and the entire judicial system. Five Hundred and Thirty Five Dollars.

We are just a few steps away from being scanned, photographed, followed and robbed every place we turn. Nobody but Ron Paul even touches how wrong this is and where it is going.

fonta

That's true on so many issues

Nobody but Ron Paul even touches how wrong this is and where it is going.

Get a load of this!!!

"Although never charged with a crime, H. Beatty Chadwick spent fourteen years of his life in prison."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H._Beatty_Chadwick
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB123137263059962659.html

Clearly, these so-called judges are the biggest gangsters on the planet.

what in the world?!?!

So not only did they illegally detain him indefinitely, but the judge himself, admitted that it was basically a form of torture to get him to confess, "Beatty Chadwick was ordered released from prison by Delaware County Judge Joseph Cronin, who determined his continued incarceration had lost its coercive effect and would not result in him surrendering the money." What the heck!?! Just trample all over the constitution and not even be ashamed about it.

Basically they said, "it was ok we did it, we were just trying to get information from him, but maybe we did do it a little too long...at some point torture just won't work"

Some of you saying, Yahoo

Some of you saying, Yahoo I'll do 2 years for $22 Million, after the fact.
I would do 2yrs in solitary standing on my head if they told me going in I would get $22 million when I got out.
Would love to see you in this guys place from day one not even thinking about the possibility of getting $22 Million.
Thrown in solitary confinement no phone call,no lawyer,no trial, no medical/dental care etc., you would be squeeling like a pig after the first 6mo or sooner.
Then after your let out, PTSD, charges dropped and your standing there in front of the jail wondering WTF happened.
Glad he fought back and got $22 Million, and glad the taxpayers have to pay because it might make them realize the police state we live in.
Shades of NDAA, section 1021, and maybe a little water boarding on the side. There won't be $22 Million waiting for you after that!

when I was 18 i was in Denver, walking to double play records

on Colfax heading to Havana. A police patty wagon pulled up, the police ran out and threw me to the ground, then put me on a bench and hand cuffed me to it, they through me in the patty wagon bench and all and took me to the police station. They held me for 4 hours in a room by myself and later came in and said I could go. They did not tell me anything as to why they had done it. I had to get a priest involved to find out why, they told him it was a case of mistaken identity, I had my wallet in my back pocket the whole time with my license in it. I could not imagine being held like this for 2 years.

4 hours was enough for me.

And people wonder why people support Ron Paul, that was not even the first time something like this happened to me, it is time to restore our liberties in the United States.

There are a lot of incentives

There are a lot of incentives to keep the people in prisons because prisons are being run by private people as as profit oriented business. You don't have to be a criminal to make them money.

Focus on auditing the Fed ... everything else is a distraction.

The problem is this money...

The problem is this money will not come out of the pockets of the guilty parties. It will be the tax payers that cover this judgement. We need to abolish Absolute and Qualified immunities.

Trying to get an interesting website rolling along, Offering free banners to DP business owners. Please contact me through the DP for details with size Etc. If you don't have one I can adjust, I will make you one.

I agree

@ ATruepatriot. I wholeheartedly agree with you on abolishing absolute and qualified immunities.

In law school they taught us that this frame of thinking that government officials were immune form lawsuits while working in their government capacities originated from the King of England. Back then since the King was supposed to be ordained from God, he was therefore perfect and could do no wrong.

If you ask me I think this theory of law is outmoded. The fact that government officials know that they are immune from most lawsuits deriving from working in their governmental capacity just begs for corruption. I mean if you could get away with it, wouldn't you do it? Granted most of us here have morals and would never do such a thing, but there are those who would.

why don't we all run for public office of some sort

in our own state on a Ron Paul platform and then and only then we can bring this country back to a constitutional republic ? does anyone know were to start?

Don't Forget Jury Duty

As a juror, one vote can overturn grossly unconstitutional laws. When juries stop convicting, the tide turns.
