Ron Paul Resonates with Hispanic Voters in Florida
Submitted by kjordan3637 on Thu, 01/26/2012 - 13:53Perhaps the vote in Florida will surprise everyone!!!

Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul's strategists say they have discovered a surprising source of support for their candidate—Latinos in Florida.
Paul hasn't made any overt appeals for the Hispanic vote, his advisers say. In fact, he has barely campaigned in Florida at all because he considers the odds too great against him, although he did participate in a Tampa debate earlier this week and is preparing for another one in Jacksonville tonight. But a Paul spokesman cites a new poll indicating that the Texas congressman has the support of 41.5 percent of likely Hispanic Republican voters in Florida, with former House Speaker New Gingrich second at 25.3 percent, former Gov. Mitt Romney of Massachusetts at 9.2 percent, and former Sen. Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania at 4.1 percent.
This suggests that Paul could do better than expected in Florida's presidential primary next Tuesday.

Could this support be from the Cubans?
I know some Cuban Hispanics who have a pure unadulterated hatred for socialism and communism due to what Castro did to Cuba. These people have an appreciation for freedom and liberty that the average American can't understand. Since RP is clearly the most anti socialist candidate, I can see why he is getting their support.
But we have! ;)
"...Paul hasn't made any overt appeals for the Hispanic vote..."
But we have, for almost 3 years!! at RonPaulSpanish.com (Ron Paul en Español / Ron Paul in Spanish)
;)
No one among the GOP or
No one among the GOP or Democratic candidates is more pro-family and pro-individual rights than Ron.

Hispanics
See that RP is more for their rights than the others imo.
Besides RP is a southerner, more so than the Newt.

Just saying here
If he's taking 41% of Hispanic votes and he takes the youth vote along with the rest of his demographics, one would think he'd be doing better in the "polls"

Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution, inevitable.
Those demographics figures you just posted
are taken from the "polls".

Brasileiros por Ron Paul 2012 / Brazilians for Ron Paul 2012
People would be surprised how broad Dr. Ron Paul's appeal has grown. One example is: http://www.facebook.com/BrasileirosPorRonPaul2012
There is a large Brazilian population in Florida. Many Americans with Brazilian origins own small businesses and are against big government. I think people are going to be surprised by Florida, but even if it doesn't play out Dr. Ron Paul has the best chance in my opinion of getting the nomination and the only candidate that can beat Obama.
Its growing in England too
And we must remember, there was never a plan to go for the Florida delegates. On the previous states there has been significant improvement in the number of votes for Ron Paul than in 2008. This is really what we want to be watching. Even if he placed second, he would leave with 0 delegates.
The message is spreading and we can take this opportunity to keep the fire going and looking ahead to the caucuses and helping spread the message there.
Which is all the more reason to get some videos in Spanish at there is a large Latino vote there. I would say its close to if not more than the Mormon vote. Maybe someone can confirm or correct this? I understand there was a recent LDS organization that endorsed too.

afraid
that is all it is resonating with in florida -
polls are awful ... either this is such a sham or the states don't deserve the message or the messenger. will this ever change?
Habla Espanol?
Seems it would be a good idea to put some Spanish subtitles on a few of Dr Paul's most popular speeches, ads and youtube videos.
Anyone here fluent in Spanish?

Half of Florida Latinos are Registered Republicans!
According to data from the Florida Division of Elections compiled by the Pew Hispanic Center, Latinos make up 13.1 percent of the state’s 11.2 million registered voters. Nearly 1.5 million Latinos are registered to vote here, and as recently as 2006 more than half of them - now around 450,000 — are registered Republican, constituting 11 percent of all GOP registered voters.
If asked about this at the debate or anywhere else
Ron Paul should say "Of course they support me. They see the U.S. government becoming just like Mexico's or Cuba's governments, and they know how bad that is. They don't want to have to escape to Canada. I'm the only one who will stop that from happening."
Now if only we could get
Now if only we could get volunteers in Flordia to drive a van, and pick up voters (preferably Ron Paul supporters) who don't have a way of transportation to go vote, to offer them a ride. I would volunteer my time if I just had a van and had help with the cost of gas.
42% of hispanic votes would make a huge impact in the overall votes.
Funny thing is that 9% of Romney supporters could be just because they get paid :(
yes, that would help! maybe
yes, that would help!
maybe available drivers can do "chip ins" to get just a little money, say $250?, to rent a van plus pay gas for those who have the time & willingness to bring voters to the polling place.
