Jon Stewart defends Ron Paul from Newt Gingrich

Check out Jon Stewart slamming Newt Gingrich and sticking up for Ron Paul! Hilarious!

Go Paul!

"That's right, Mr. Moon Base, they won't tell Ron Paul seriously!" Stewart said, ripping Gingrich. "And that’s why I’m going to make Ron Paul my first ambassador to Moonlandia!"

Believe it or not, there are

Believe it or not, there are still a lot of people who either don't know who Ron Paul is or know nothing about his policies.

This is a good thing, and having a little fun with Dr. Paul in this instance is good too.

It reminds me of when I was 18 or 19 and watching Beavis & Butthead and they would show a really cool band that I'd never heard of. Do you think those bands cared about the source of their exposure, hell no, they were thrilled about it. Especially seeing that I went out and bought their CD the next day...

Same thing goes here, Dr. Paul needs to become a household name and this is just one more favor Mr. Stewart is doing for us.

Stewart was making more fun of NG then RP...BUT... CBS took

this clip and on Friday morning made RP seem "crazy" with editing.

And then that old d!ck Bob Schiffer added to the marginilization of RP.

Fk em all

This is not a defense of Ron Paul!

Where did all the votes for this come from?

Showing Ron Paul in a crazy space suit and calling him "out there," while proposing Newt wants him to be the ambassador of Newt's moon colony actually portrays Ron Paul as crazy along with Newt.

Ah, I see, it was posted by Mr. 23 hours. And he actually fooled a bunch "voters" with his title.

Democracy is a bad way to determine what is important.

It's just funny

The votes are there because it is a funny clip.

Stewart portrayed Newt as saying Ron Paul is "out there" as a way of proving that Newt is "out there".

So, it doesn't in any way portray Ron Paul as crazy.

And no, it isn't important.

It's just funny.

No reason to get worked up about it.

It does not portray Ron Paul in a positive light

Much less "defend" him.

I get the joke.

Comedy Show

Stewart is a comedian.

What do you expect him to do, use his comedy show time to pose as one who takes a politician seriously?

Of course he skewers politicians. That's the whole point of his show, it's why people watch.

They don't watch for serious political commentary.

That aside, here he's skewering Newt, which he's done before and will again because Newt if full of hot air and therefore is a great target for Stewart.

Effective satire and parody relies on truth at the core; Newt is an imbecile appealing to other imbeciles and Stewart went after that central truth.

I didn't say Stewart defended Paul in all ways. That's not his job.

The spectacle of this race is that the whole thing is a sick joke. The GOP race is dominated by imbeciles appealing to imbeciles for their votes.

That's a comedy gold mine.

Just lighten up and enjoy it.

It's not Stewart's job to represent your viewpoint. That's your job.

Americans would be so much better off if those who opted to get their information solely from TV would limit their intake to Stewart and the folks at SNL.

We're not a Jon Stewart, or comedy site.

His videos are only relevant here if they're beneficial to this cause, and actually defend Ron Paul.

I like John Stewart, he is a

I like John Stewart, he is a lot smarter than a tv comedian has to be.

LOL that was hilarious!

LOL that was hilarious!

Stewart is not independent. He's a democrat partisan.

Notice Stewart said Gingrich "Will not be president", which is exactly what Nancy Pelosi recently said. The whole clip was to make Newt seem crazy by comparing him to "crazy" Ron Paul. Stewart has occasionally been good for the Paul campaign, like when he pointed out the media ignoring Paul. However, when push comes to shove, Stewart will be parroting the democratic party positions.

We all want progress, but if you're on the wrong road, progress means doing an about-turn and walking back to the right road; in that case, the man who turns back soonest is the most progressive.

-C. S. Lewis

Lighten Up

Stewart consistently has done alot of good things to criticize the media black out of Ron Paul.

Indeed, there isn't anyone on the tube who has made as much of an impact in exposing that.

Why the hell would anyone care that "when push comes to shove, Stewart will be parroting the democratic party positions..."?---and how is it that a guy who consistently has lampooned every major figure on the scene, without respect to party, is to be considered suspect or the enemy?

For all those locked in the incredibly stupid world of two parties, well, that might be a problem.

And it's your problem, it's the problem of partisan hacks, not a problem of Stewart's making.

Mainly, all you must be able to understand is funny.

It's incredibly nonproductive to live and breathe on what someone else says or thinks.

Stewart does a comedy show and you try and pull out of it some deep and sinister plot and to foresee a moment when he will betray all that is good and decent.

I foresee that he'll continue to do a great comedy show.

Understanding liberty is knowing that sometimes people will express ideas different than your ideas.

Maybe those ideas will directly oppose your ideas.

That isn't evil.

And if your ideas are like you have expressed them here, well, it's pretty damn good I'd say.

Huston we have a problem

A moon base, is he serious? I have not seen this clip of Newts moon base idea before, OMG and they say Ron is crazy? This is insane, thankfully he did say it would be in his second term. LMAO

Aerospace engineers arn't stupid

(my daughter is one :) Gingrich is making himself look like a fool to the whole country and especially foolish to the space coast.

If you see something, say something, the government is listening.
Silence isn't golden, it's yellow.

funny, but...

not complimentary to RP... it reinforced the RP is crazy notion by showing him in the helmet. But Newt is even crazier, so not all bad.

'Cause there's a monster on the loose

Leave the sick Earth for a younger planet. I love it!

Don't waste your time trying to be right, spend it trying to get better

Moon Base?!?!

That has to be one of the most PATHETIC instances of pandering I have ever seen. Really Newt, double down on space exploration to appeal to the NASA votes? And Newt, how much will this *Moon Base* cost the American taxpayers and how exactly are you going to shrink the size and scope of government whilst undertaking such a project?

I'm reaching up and reaching out.
I'm reaching for the random or what ever will bewilder me.
And following our will and wind we may just go where no one's been.
We'll ride the spiral to the end and may just go where no one's been.
Spiral out.

I'm dropping my support of Paul and supporting Sly-mander (the guy with the huge brain). Paul just wants to avoid bankruptcy and protect our freedom & Liberty!
We need to fill out a credit Ap and give it to China so they can loan us trillions of dollars so we can beat them to the moon!
........Air! We're going to need LOTS of air!

Bang Zoom ... to the Moon

Every time I see the Honeymooners …I can’t stop thinking of Newt; another very over weight, scheming dunderhead who thinks he is king.

Please enjoy, "RON PAUL And All That Jazz"

What about the last joke?

That was so brutal.

"Realized It Was Sick"

I had to watch it a second time to pick up that one. I had forgotten about how he left his two wives when they became ill. As they say, "When the going gets tough..."

"Bipartisan: both parties acting in concert to put both of their hands in your pocket."-Rothbard

Let us make NO mistake, if RP was in the finals vs. President Obama, Stewart would give RP no quarter so to speak. RP would be roasted every show imo

healthy skepticism

As the saying goes 'evil always implodes' so we shall see.

p.s. still remember that story where his producer punched that guy. Not too mention the story or rumour that his brother is an SEC regulator or something like that. Is this true?

Comedians, cartoons, parody

all comic media would come out in full force, complete with SNL skits, grotesque political cartoons, Daily Show abuse, but that's all part of the job.

Stewart did give Obama like a two year break, which really, made the comedy suffer a bit.

Currently consuming: Morehouse's "Better off free", FDR; Wii U; NEP Football

You could be right....BUT for right now Jon Stewart is giving Dr. Paul some face time and some credibility.

so ya know what..I'll take it and I'll thank Stewart for it. If it goes away after Dr. Paul gets the nomination I'll STILL thank Stewart for it and just stop watching him.

Don't underestimate the folks that watch The Daily Show. Stewart may ultimately support President Obama...but I'd be willing to bet money that he has turned more than one mind over to Dr. Paul in the interim. ((willingly or not))

Stewart Lampoons The Bogus

I’m convinced his respect for Ron Paul is genuine. I don’t for a second believe Stewart is just a toady. He maintains real reservations of a sincere progressive over how a pure libertarian philosophy would combat corporatism and deliver the services and safety net his good heart would like to see for society. Neither Ron Paul, nor Judge Nap. in their brief appearances did a sufficient job of addressing Stewart’s fair inquiries laid out without a trap during Daily Show interviews. I trust Jon Stewart will keep trying to understand, and if it comes to an Obama showdown, Stewart will deliver plenty of good faith opportunities for us to better refine our message as he helps us laugh at our own clumsiness since I believe he shares our human regard for truth and justice.

Well said.

I agree. But, if he could just learn to stop interrupting his guests and let them complete a thought it would be much easier for them to address his "fair inquiries". Often times it looks more like John stating his positions than it does an interview with him doing 80-90% of the talking.
