GEORGIA: Super Brochures for Super Tuesday!
Submitted by ProfG on Mon, 01/30/2012 - 19:11Before you know it, we will be arriving at the 11-state, March 6 contest known as Super Tuesday. Texas, with its 155 delegates, has abandoned the date, making GEORGIA and its 76 delegates the largest prize of the evening. Virginia, by excluding all other candidates but Romney and Paul from its Republican ballot, shrinks the contest even more.
Georgia is an OPEN PRIMARY. You all know what THAT means: Independents and Democrats can vote in the GOP contest. It's also no longer a winner-take-all State; it's now proportional at the statewide level (34 delegates) and semi-proportional at the District level (42 delegates). All of this means we have a shot at winning a LOT more votes in Georgia, AND a good chunk of delegates, than EVER before.
BUT WE NEED YOUR HELP!
Our friends who created the Ron Paul Super Brochure campaign have created a Georgia-specific website, where anyone can go, pick out a precinct anywhere in Georgia, and pay to mail the Brochure to every GOP "super voter" (voters who voted in the 2008 & 2010 General Elections) in that precinct: http://www.ronpaulbrochure.com/ga_choose_county.php
For example, there are 1,764 GOP super-voters in Gilmer County, where I live. The cost per precinct ranges from $48.50 to $114.50. I have already paid for my Precinct 12, and have recommended others in my county pick their precinct, or even a couple of precincts, to send mailings to. If their precinct is too large or costly, I tell them to please pick a smaller one. Once a precinct has been selected/paid for it’s removed from the list.
EVEN IF YOU LIVE OUTSIDE OF GEORGIA, we need your help to get this done! There are 318,503 "super voters" in our State; we've got a GREAT ground game going on here, with dozens of County Coordinators getting a boatload of Ron Paul info out there -- but we can't do it alone!
CAN YOU CHIP IN?
Ours has been a two-prong strategy all along: NUMBER ONE, focus on getting as many of our people as possible into the Delegate Selection process, so that we can win delegate slots to the National Republican Convention and get Ron Paul elected. And NUMBER TWO, get the word out about Ron Paul to Georgia voters, to get as many votes as possible in our Super Tuesday primary, so that at least SOME of the Georgia delegate slots are "bound" to Paul on the first ballot.
We're working hard on Number One, and making headway. But without an infusion of funds into Georgia from the official campaign, we simply cannot do much with Number Two. In my opinion, THIS IS OUR OPPORTUNITY TO DO SO.
PLEASE, in addition to the precinct walking, sign waving, phone calling, etc. that you're doing where you live... PLEASE go to the Super Brochure website and spend just a little money so that, all together, we can reach ALL of Georgia. Thanks!

Ron Paul Supporters in Georgia... Please write a letter to
each of your neighbors. I believe there is a template posted on Daily Paul somewhere. Once you mail out the letters to your neighbor follow up by knocking on your neighbors door.
I believe it would greatly help us win first if they were to receive a letter from you and a follow-up knock on the door. Then if they will vote for them try to get them to go for a delegate spot!

Can you help buyers of Super Brochures target some weaker areas by listing some counties and/or precincts within certain counties for people to focus on?
I've been working with a few ground gamers in Idaho and the idea of coordinating SB buys with those folks is producing some targeted efforts. The chip in I started for Idaho has been growing slowly but surely and I will be asking the ground team to help me identify where we need SBs mailed to most.
I always enjoyed picking random precincts in counties according to my own strategy but perhaps with a little guidance anonymous buyers could better support the overall effort in Georgia.
As soon as you put forth a list I will make a buy of a precinct from that list to get you kick started again!

I've made a map of Georgia Counties...
and am keeping track by shading a county each time I learn a precinct has been bought there. I know I'm missing some from those who have bought from outside the DP but it's nice to see progress.
With a few more folks buying outer lying counties we can blanket the state in Super Brochures. While I'd love to see every precinct in every county get a brochure, I think if we plant enough seeds statewide we have a chance at those seeds growing and spreading to areas that did not receive brochures.
Let's knock out Georgia quickly so we can head to Ohio!

One problem with your map is
One problem with your map is that there are some counties with so many more people, I doubt you had the time to green everything out proportionally.
Just a thought, just because the counties around Atlanta are in green doesn't mean there even close to full :).

My goal in various other comments and threads has been to get SBs into every county of Georgia and hope that they begin to stir conversation so support for Ron can grow organically.
With people being strapped for money after January's big surge, the large number of states coming up in Super Tuesday, the No One But Paul money bomb next week, I figured we would not be able to cover a high percentage of depth per county.
So my map was designed to give people a reference to counties that perhaps had not had any precincts bought yet. Given Georgia is proportional in awarding delegates, I wanted to cover those outer lying counties in the hopes we could take some proportional delegates.

What is the result from the Super Brochure in FL?
We had a meaningful test of the effects of the Super Brochure mailings in Florida precincts. So, was there a difference in the precincts that received the brochure mailings and nearby precincts that did not? I'm trying to find out the facts, not being a naysayer. (I bought a precinct in SC as well as my own precinct in my state.)

I don't know if anyone is tracking what you pose but is is definitely a good idea. Your thought will have me looking closer at county results provided I can get that granular level of detail on primary day from some source.
What you point out was kind of how I began my approach in Georgia. I noticed the Northwestern most counties of SC tended to be stronger areas for Ron so that's where I started buying Georgia precincts...right along that border. I just happened to decide to go all the way along the GA/SC border and then begin working my way inland.
Other than a manual effort for now, this seems like it should be something we coordinate with the Super Brochure folks if possible in the future. If they can get us a list of precincts/counties bought we can track the voting results after a primary.
