Even if this is another ploy

Even if this is another ploy - courting Ron Paul supporters in the hope of keeping them around after Ron (hypothetically) loses the nomination - it is very valuable.

For starters, it gives the viewers moral support that being for Ron Paul is not solely for out-group members. It recognizes that Ron is sincere and labels both Mitt and Newt as con-men. And even while labeling him "funny" it was clearly referring to the humor of a confident and wise man, using it to expose the failings of his opponents in a mind-sticking manner.

Like glasnost, if this is really a ploy it is a booby-trap for those using it.

But it seems to me there's a chance it is straight. A thing to remember about conservatives - even Neocons: They already believe in most of the targets and many of the tactics for achieving them that we do. They just have a few (sometimes major) differences of opinion with us. If they change a small number of ideas they can become patriots as well. So they are prime recruit material.

Ron voices very persuasive arguments on each of these ideas. Don't be surprised to see former opponents coming around on some of them, and gradually come to support him - or at least stop opposing him. (Even if it gets them into some hot water with their management.) We need to be prepared for an influx of REAL supporters from among the ranks of our former opponents.

They'll typically have to change more than one opinion. So it won't be a sudden epiphany and a whole-hearted all-in break. But these changes are what we WANT. So we have to be prepared to accept and encourage them when they occur.

And we must ESPECIALLY avoid dumping on them for their FORMER opinions, once they have seen one of the lights. Instead we should applaud them for having the guts to admit they had been wrong and the wit to now be right. B-)

The whole POINT is to get as many people as possible working for liberty, peace, and prosperity. We want to convert others, not wipe them out. (Even some of the powerful in the old system might eventually change, at considerable short-term cost to themselves, once they see it is unsustainable and this offers them a way out.)

That means: For each job "created or saved" about five were destroyed.

Wow

I was canvassing for sigs yesterday and someone actually repeated the line "Ron Paul is a funny guy".....now I know where that person got the line from....they were unknowingly, subconciously parroting something they heard on TV....

C'mon Greg - Be brave - Step up!

I suppose FOX waved a finger in his face after saying he was really starting to like Ron Paul.

But you can feel him wanting to support Dr. Paul.

I hope he does because he's an intelligent person - unlike everyone else on that "Five" show.

"We have allowed our nation to be over-taxed, over-regulated, and overrun by bureaucrats. The founders would be ashamed of us for what we are putting up with."

Take the good when it comes,

Take the good when it comes, and say thank you. No matter what their motives, it's good publicity. Being nice will encourage more of it.

A couple of weeks ago, Murdoch tweeted that he really likes Ron Paul. It was after a debate. That was like flipping a switch to the On position, for more Ron Paul friendly reporting.
It's good for Fox, and Murdoch. Boosts their ratings. He isn't stupid. They have probably lost some viewers over it.
He also knows that CBS, ABC, NBC, and CNN, are losing viewers by the droves because of lack of Ron Paul coverage. If he plays nice, and gives us the news we want, Fox does better.

So, enjoy. Say thank you.

'He's a funny guy...'

seems to be the latest attempt to give Dr. Paul a nod while also trying to dismiss him. Have heard this phrase a few times on both CNN and Fox.

Oh, he was representing the people a looong time ago ;)

.

Peace sells... but who's buying?

I think its safe to say we no

I think its safe to say we no longer need to tell people to google Ron Paul!

Hey Fox News: thanks for the 3 minutes of honest reporting.

But I'm still voting for Ron Paul or NONE AT ALL. ... Just to be clear, in the event you were trying to Jack Welch me.

Now it's time to go watch the Judge on Freedom Watch on your far superior network: Fox Business. ;)

I don't buy it...

Even with Welch saying that the media and the G.O.P. should be nice to Ron Paul and his supports one nice acknowlegement of him won't convince me that their blackouts and smear tacks will stop. The media many times have a discussions on the candidates and Ron Paul's name is not even mentioned. The media is like a chameleon who can change in a moments notice.

Operation Welch

Not buying it. One was for Newt, the rest were FN actors. Frank's thinking he hit another homer for Jack.

Agree. This 1st part looked orchestrated, a staged event...

right down to the side camera angle of the well endowed woman planted right in the middle of the others. Typical Fox News stuff, IMO. Why is the question?

Ron Paul is right...

...Freedom really works!

Is it just me....

or what? I think not only should we send the politicians to the moon, but the entire MSM too. I can't believe the women on MSM, they're the dumbest bimbos out there. Who makes these idiots broadcasters? I guess jounalistic integrity has now stooped down to sleeping with your boss so you get the job, without any other basis of merit. Unbelievable. Most of these idiots have IQ's in single digits, even my Border Collie buddy is smarter than all of them combined.Enough said....

Well...

Border Collies ARE a pretty smart breed. XD

This...

is why I cancelled my cable. RP2012 Phoney Fox Sux

9/11 was an inside job .....time to get some answers..RP 2012

It begins...

Don't be fooled liberty lovers! EVERYBODY now realizes ain't no Republican gonna win sheeeit without us, RP supporters. I predict that the next media phase will be back-handed compliments, and later all-out arse-kissing of the RP folk. What they DON'T realize is that the damage is already done; we could care less how 'buddy-buddy' they get with us, the establishment goose is cooked! After the endless months of despicable and deplorable treatment of RP and his supporters they think we're going to roll over because they suddenly start saying 'nice' things? Ha! We're not that gullible, right?! Vengeance is ours! Either with a RP nomination or our exit en mass of the stogy Republican Party. It's time for the establishment to learn a lesson or two about belittling, diminishing and ostracizing an entire segment of their party's members. Until the Fed is brought down and D.C. is fired, it's all theater anyway.

OneTinSoldier's picture

But, I'm not out for Vengeance

I don't want to hold a grudge over anyone's head... forever. I'm not burn the bridge just yet.

Am I going to be fooled? No. Do I trust them? Nope. The degree of trust I put into something is earned.

There's a difference between "back-handed compliments" and "sincerity", and I would say people should be careful in making that determination, and theirs to make of course.

What if they really are starting to learn from Ron Paul? And even enjoying it! I think, the more the merrier! Apologies can come later. I think the light bulb has to come on first.

I will remain vigilant, and do my best to not be too vengeful. Do you know who Tom Woods is? I think he is one of our greatest voices and supporters. I love Tom Woods! Did you also know that he used to be for the wars? I think he was at one time what people would term, a neocon. He realized he was wrong and now wishes he would have seen the light earlier, and says so. What if he hadn't been welcomed in to the cause due to never being forgiven by his fellow Americans?

If the light bulb is turning on in people's heads don't try to snuff it out due to the past, turn up the wattage for the future! Let's try and figure out a way to encourage and foster their curiosity.

But just to be clear, I do believe in being wary and vigilant. But I don't think anyone should have their past held against them, forever. If you would like to see people change, why not let them out of the prison of their past if that's what's holding them back. Of course I realize, they have to want out. Here's to hoping that the light bulb is perhaps starting to turn on for them. I'd like that.

Cheers

When they took us off the Gold Standard they took away our money... in order to make it theirs. -OneTinSoldier

Oh, I don't plan on...

..holding a grudge forever, just until, as I said, the establishment learns their lesson. The lesson? We demand and we deserve RESPECT. If we roll too quickly and 'make amends' prematurely we won't get any respect. What kind of respect do we get from the latest incarnation of the 'Tea Party'? None. They don't even respect or believe the core foundation of principles the Tea Party that WE CREATED is based upon. They run to the likes of 'Mr. Fed' Cain and 'Mr. Globalist' Newt and 'Mr. Social issues suck up' Santorum. Yeah, I want a little 'revenge' to prove a point, not to start a never-ending 'war' with the GOP. If you were to continue to quickly take back a cheating spouse, do you think they'd respect you enough to not cheat again? Hell no. They'd continue to walk all over you until you put a foot down- until they had to endure a little 'pain'. If 'sacrificing' this election is needed to get the respect of the party and a change in issues of debate and policy, then so be it. Once the force of the liberty movement is acknowledged and respected, then we can have a serious discussion within the party. And yes, I'm actually going to see Tom Woods at NW Liberty fest in a few days, so I understand what you're saying. Hopefully this clarifies what I'm saying.

OneTinSoldier's picture

Yes, that helps explain

I understand. +1. Indeed, Ron Paul and his supporters(like me and you) deserve respect.

Oh,

..and if the GOP REFUSES to respect us, then I say it's high time we strike out on our own!

I agree with you..

If it's some sort of ploy, it's going to backfire on them in a bad way. Any little thing that provokes people into looking at Ron Paul closer is all we need.

You all know what happens from there. ~wink~

“Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness.” - Mark Twain

They are phonies.

It's so obvious that they don't really mean that stuff they're saying. They don't really like Ron Paul. They're just using this as a tactic.

I loved the analogy that the one woman gave

About how Gingrich and Romney are like the guy who will look a woman in the eye and tell her whatever he thinks she wants to hear in order to get with her/sleep with her/whatever.

well thats because its true.

"Man Crush"

When one fellow says he's really starting to like Ron Paul what we get from the woman who's name I won't bother to know, "I can feel your man crush for him". I dislike that kind of put-down intensely.

haha, I like women

but I have a complete man crush on Ron Paul...people tell me that and I embrace it, haha! I just tell them, "you're darn right! He's the one guy I would gay marriage if I could."
